Fuel filler is way cool.....
|
Some pics I got off the camera finally.
Here is the stamp die I made to recess the fuel door. I machined it and pressed the pins in to keep everything aligned as it gets pressed. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/P1030186.JPG Close up shot of the filler door all in place now. The Ricks Stainless tank was also modified to get the filler to the new location and everything lines up great. Tim did a great job on this. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/P1030198.JPG http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/P1030201.JPG Here are the final shots of what the rear bumper looks like. I can't speak enough about how good Tim is at metal shaping. I mean the metal on the bumper is thick and he formed and reshaped the ends and makes it look like its so easy. The rear of the car is still going to get a new spoiler and the exhaust cut outs. Then the back half of the car will be done. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...rear_side2.JPG http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/P1030204.JPG |
NICEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Getting closer!!

I can just stamp one and mail it out. Maybe I should offer that fuel door and stamping. You can put it on any car I guess. |
That looks awesome Bob. Great job and keep us posted!
|
Bob.... that looks great...
Whats the diameter of the recess? I'm gonna try and use the Ridetech one but since it will be under the license plate on my car, I want to recess it too..... |
The diameter is bigger than the ride tech ones.
My recess area is 4.75in diameter. |
Looks great!!

Looks great Bob!

The car is looking great Bob! The changes to the bumper and rear panel really make a big difference. Much better. Tim is a master at the whole metal thing!

Been a while since any updates.
The Exhaust is done. Here are a couple pics from my iphone. Tim cut the rear valance for exhaust to exit. It has exhaust tips that have a resonator built in, gives it a factory tip look. Also he gave the opening a rolled edge that is real nice, its not a rolled edge all the way around, it fades into the valance at the bottom. I'll put picture of the entire exhaust system up when i get better pictures. Its a work of art. Its all 3 inchTim is working on the roll cage now. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g.../tail_pipe.JPG The license plate is something I found cleaning out someones basement, I got to keep the plates. All I got to do is go 8.99 right? LOL http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...ro/8secryd.JPG I got this plate also in the basement he must of got **** from Greg Weld. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...ro/8secHI1.jpg |

His car has taken a back seat to customers, it is a bit more updated then the last pictures shown here. He has a 70 chevelle on air ride at the shop that just got all buffed out. He will start assembly soon. Also has a 69 camaro convertible that was an ebay purchase, and is going thru it and fixing and changing a laundry list of stuff that new owner wants. And of course my car. |
Wow... That is a nice car, all the body mods look real good..
|
Well I got the Roll Bar put in place its all welded in.
Im going to put some bars that go to the front but I'll put those in a bit later. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05238.JPG http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05240.JPG Also started working on the firewall smoothing. You can see a hint of the rear firewall behind the rear seat taking shape also. Also made a dimple die plate for the subframe bolt access hole. Few more things and it will be done and on to other things. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05241.JPG Running a factory tilt steering column but We covered it up with a nice tube that it slips into. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05242.JPG |
Looks great Bob!
|
Looking good. I really like the idea of the dimple died closeout for the body mount pocket.
|
She's looking good. Good job on the firewall.
|
Looks great Bob.
I like the steering column tube....never seen that before. Looks cool. |
Looks like it is coming together nicely. The column tube is cool, cleans it up.
|
Looking very nice Bob. Keep up the good work!
|
Great work/progress guys! Love all the details going into this ride!
|
Well got a couple more things done.
I wanted a panel behind the rear seat so I came up with a few ideas and myself and Tim picked one. BEFORE http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05240.JPG AFTER http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05445.JPG Also put the door panel on and test fit it with the seats to see what we might do for side bars. http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05447.JPG http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/g...o/DSC05448.JPG |
That's .....SINISTER
|
Instead of lightening it -- I'd just add more horsey power....
