I'd love to see some more pics of the fabrication of the wheel tubs if you have any. Those are very nice. I'd like to see where the weld seams are etc. You can barely tell that's for sure.

I'll see if Rodger at IRONWORKS has any of the fab photos...... If so, we'll post them.

Wait till you see the trunk shots. I'll post them soon.

That IS a Chevelle in the background. The roof measures in at 48 inches off the ground! A certain 66 Nova (John's) measures 49.5 inches.

You could seek shelter from a hail storm under one of those tubs!

Rodger, I want mine like that too :_paranoid

pcorriveau951 10-21-2008 10:56 PM

rodger ( Ironworks) is the tubes for the framerails all one piece or are they seperate pieces joined together?

Eric and Rodger awesome car, love the stance chosen. great work.

Yeah - I know, amazing fab work. I'm just your average home/hobby tinkerer that's trying to learn how to even hold a candle to this type of fab work. Slowly but surely I'm picking up tools, but now I gotta find time to work on the skills.

Keep the pics coming, I love checking the threads on all of the builds in your shop!

The Trunk......

The guys at IRONWORKS are at it again...... Check out the trunk fabrication:

There has been interest on the fabrication of the tubs, so here is another photo.

This photo shows where the weld seam is from the inside:

I think that car in the background in hiding under (behind) the table.

Damm that is one killer looking wheel tub, and huge too.

I love this pile of tools.

I wonder who is screaming or crying more (over this photo) Rodger or Kyle?

Rodger hates a mess, and Kyle (DSE) insists that all photos be taken in a clean environment. (I bet Rodger didn't take this photo)

AND it reminds me how many tools it really does take to fabricate something, plus it makes me feel ok, when I look at my pile of tools, in the middle of some project task. Thank God I don't have to work under a time clock.

Mick

ironworks 11-19-2008 09:10 PM

Looks like the tools needed to build the supports and pile of Custom C6 control arms. Plus the adjustable radius brake that Erik made for doing fuel tanks. I think Brycen took those pics though.

Rodger

I don't really know if the opinion of a 22 year old matters, but the quality and craftsmanship of you guys' work is phenomonal and super inspirational!!!

rich-allen 11-20-2008 10:57 AM

This car is unbelievable in person.
I encourage anyone in the S. Calif area to stop by Ironworks and say hello.

The metal work going on in that shop is phenomenal.

You can't buy tubs like those from DSE...... and the cost is slightly higher

hey actually if you look in the bottom left corner of the picture is my right hand, which means that i didn't take the picture. and if you take a picture of the project while its in progress your going to have a "mess". and if theres no mess theres no work being done.

Brycen

I agree "if there is no mess theres no work being done" you should see my mess.

I like the picture with all of the tools shown. I like progress photos, Rodger doesn't give us enough photos.

My point is: many owners and owners in this industry would prefer to have the picture taken without the mess. Kyle for one, we talked about this in Columbus (at length) about the quanity of pictures he takes and the quality of pictures he demands. He is the owner, he gets what he wants.

My assumption was that Rodger didn't take the picture, because we have read his comments about pictures in his shop with stuff lying around, and he was not to happy (maybe all of the mess distracted from the quailty work that you and the boys crank out day after day)

Again the assumption is Rodger likes it neat and tidy.
No doubt that a mess must ensue to produce work.

So Who took the picture?
Did that crazy Nova owner take the photo?
Maybe Jake?

Your opinion does matter! I personally like getting feed-back on the workmanship, etc, of my Nova.

The cars being constructed at Ironworks always seem to take on a life of their own...... Just ask John, Rich, Byran, and Mick. It doesn't matter who is working on the car, the results are impressive!!!!!

I obviously like Novas...... but I'll have to admit I'm starting to like those other cars..... what are called again: Camaros? Seeing Rich's car being built has really caught my eye. I have another 62 Nova sitting in my garage.... Any body want to trade a Nova for a..... (gulp).... Camaro?

New Headers.............

This first photo is of the original headers Ironworks made for the Nova.
http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...9-13-08001.jpg

They looked great....... but I had to open my mouth and say "What if.......". My "what if" ended up being: What if the four tubes were all at the same angle, and all in a row..... How would that look?

Well, IRONWORKS, being the masters of fabrication, literally created another set of headers based on my (minimal) input.

I just love how Rodger and I connect on things!.... and how his crew can execute ideas into reality.

So here is a series of photos showing the construction of the new headers:

Stop buy and check it out. Its ON the ground, but be careful you might trip over it.

Now back to one bad ass topless Nova

There it is hiding under/behind the table. Since it's only four feet tall it easy to hide.
Let the spot light go to someone else. Walk softly and carry a big stick (Tom Nelson and I talked at SEMA).

Brycen, man i didn't know you were my age, that's awesome, I am working on a 70 nova clone, it started life as a 71 ventura, 307 'glide car, now motivated by a bbc chevy, my skills aren't quite as defined as yours, but hey practice makes perfect.

Rodger,
Fantastic fabrication as usual. Unigue designs and geometry in one... you cant get any better than that. You are establishing the "mark" on these tube chassis builds.
Dave

fabrication is over the top cant wait till its done
