Rambler you are one cool guy! Your offer to pitch in and help, along with those from other members is heart warming and I know it has helped Anthony and Jen a great deal.

I've talked to Anthony a lot the last few days. The car is going to be moved to a shop in So-Cal where things will be fixed and done right. This isn't 100% free and will cost Anthony around 4k. An awesome price, but it totally kills the already strained funds needed to finish the car. We all know how little things like AN fittings and fuel line can add up quick. Many of you have already donated parts he needs or offered to help in other ways. However, Anthony has his pride and feels funny about asking for what he needs. He doesn't want to be a charity, but could use our help. So if you want to lend a hand perhaps it would be best to contact our buddy Steve Rupp with your offer. You know he will put whatever we give to good use. I know that any way we can help off set the cost of fixing what should have been done right the first time it was paid for will come back to us. Not saying we should finish the car for him, but rather help our good friend get back on track so he can finish it.

:lateral:

I can chip in a few bucks.. maybe set up a pay-pal deal for those that want to kick in a bit.

Any one of us could end up in this crappy situation.

SWAPMEETCRAZY 08-22-2008 01:37 PM

Man, If we could have a stand up presidential candidate like Mario, Frank , or some of u others wouldn't every body want to vote!!!!!! :hail:

Hey Tony and Ned, i know this won't heal the wounds, but because i found this forum and all u guys , there was a light at the end of my tunnel nightmare this week!! i joined couple months ago because of my problems with synister!! in the middle of that thread--here comes C. Fesler out of no where and offers up a great deal on a billet specialties front drive setup(should be here monday) Real great people to deal with!! would never have known about it without the turmoil i had w/synister!! There is some justice to those of us who take people for their word!! I still catch myself looking over my shoulder with other vendors since i got burned -but in time that will heal too!! There are some great guys w/ great shops on this forum that make us all proud and let us forget the ones that aren't!! After all , we may be located all over the country but family sticks together!!!

Steve I think that's a great idea! Let me know when it's set up and I'll add to the pot.

I'll kick in some if it helps.

My dad has a situation like this brewing on a 55 he has being built in Missouri. The guy quoted too low a price and now updates are few and excuses and unreturned calls are many. We'll see what happens. Right now there is $50k out half a country away from where dad lives.

I'm not sure what I'll do if it goes bad.

Flash68 08-22-2008 01:53 PM

Yes, please post the paypal account here when you get it setup, Steve.

Hey Chris Deshane, maybe you should pitch in a few bucks too eh?

I hated reading that bit from Anthony's wife about giving Chris baby toys and supplies. That is freaking unbelievable. Chris are about the lowest of the low. Anthony wasn't a customer of yours - he was likely YOUR best friend. Sad.

no problem, glad i can help. if he has a shop lined up great.
.a new thread needs to be started and as steven rupp suggested use a pay-pal account for that shop .so we can donate what we can .one thing thats gonna come up is "trust". it should be posted to that thread how much does come in torward this shop bill just to keep us members informed of what comes in ...
i know i wouldnt ask for help either but if we can make this the new focus and for tony and his wife it will show finishing the car and being in the car hobby is truly worth it .
one reason i love being in the car hobby is all the great people i have come to know.

Hi Tony

I have never met you, but you are a friend of one of Customers (David) that we are doing a 69 Camaro for. He sent me this link today & I just finished reading it.
I don't want to get in the way of any deal you have going for or with a shop. But I am close to you & would be willing to come out for free & take a look at your car & see if I can be of any help.
I feel really bad for what has hapened to you on your project.
I love to hear about all the support & all the help the members of this site have offered. It is great to see.

I hope I can be of help. Look forward to meeting you some time.

I don't want to put that on the shop. Maybe Scott could organize it? We all trust him.

Plus, due to my job, I don't want to be the recipient of any cash. Could look bad.

I plan on spending 16 hours sanding off the old stuff so that Anthony saves that labor. Anyone wanna come help? lol

That's a nice offer, Anthony knows he is better off to find a close shop. Just saves $$$ that can be put into fixing the car.

Again, I'm sure Tony will be up for you checking out the car.

bigtyme1 08-22-2008 03:12 PM

Like I said ealier, I wish I was closer I'd love to help. Unfortunatley I'm the kinda gut the gives up my own time to help others but I get more reward out of it that way. You guys let me know when pay pal is set up and I'll be glad to chip in. Anthony has spent many nights on the phone with me, if anything just keeping me awake so I could keep working. Good chance I'll be in town sometime after the first of the year so maybe I can help with assembly.

You've brought up some good ideas. I think a cap on the amount donated is appropriate. The quote to fix the damage was 4k if I'm not mistaken and I think that would be plenty. Not sure if Pay Pal can be set up to go directly to the shop, but that wouldn't be a bad thing. Best of Show will be doing the work and they didn't get there rep by screwing customers. A thread to follow the progress is a great idea, as is posting where the funds are used. Steve if you want to keep that updated, seeing as your closer to this than most, I think that would be great. If not I'm willing to do it or perhaps Anthony can.

This is actually a really cool thing. I'm sure that when Anthony gets home and finds out what's going on he will be over whelmed. It's sure to get him motivated and all revved up about his car once again. Heck...he might even be speechless for once.

Your right. I think Scott is perfect and yes we all trust him.

I'll come help as soon as I get back from recurrent. If you some one will put me up for a night or two I'll stay till it's totally sanded down.

i see your points...yours ,with the money and the shop handling the deal.
maybe tony already has a pay-pal account...its all linked to a bank account so the person recieving has to set it up with their bank info or have a pay-pal account already...
i guess its up to tony .....sounds like your gonna get help ...:lateral:

scott could start the thread ,since curtis said tony didnt want all this attention.
LETS GETR DONE as we say down here in the south..

 Shuttup magazine nerd. :D

Ok, seriously now, if you guys want to do something like this, I'd be glad to help out. I already have a 'Donations' link setup and it's through Paypal and we can just use that. We could do something like all donation made in the next X days will all go to Tony/the shop doing the work. After the X days are up, I'll either pay the shop the funds that were raised using Paypal or I could withdraw the amount and just cut a check to the shop.

Pretty cool that so many would like to help out.

Scott that's a great idea. I also think we need to add a cap. Like I said before I don't think we should finish it for him, just help him make up the lost ground.

Man I love this place! :lateral:

XcYZ 08-22-2008 04:29 PM

Lets do it. How about a time frame? Now until September 30th? That's what, 6 weeks?

Musclerodz 08-22-2008 04:29 PM

I just had a long chat with Tony. Our offer to help is on the table.

Steve1968LS2 08-22-2008 04:48 PM

Is this where I do the "If every member just gave .50 then the project would be taken care of" lol

Seriously, if you're able to toss in something it would help. I'm going to bust open my track rat piggy bank right now.

Young Gun 08-22-2008 04:49 PM

I can throw down about 50 bucks. Gimme the info on where to send the money!

a cap.. ..i know we want to help but i dont think anybody is gonna throw in enough to finish the car...if we did get enough to finish it thats great, if not we at least helped the man....the whole idea is to turn the energy spent on this forum and tonys car into a positive one....SCOTT ,your idea of using the donation link on this site sounds great.timetable is the only question. 6 weeks sounds good .
SCOTT ,lets get this thing started with a new thread asap and show what lateral-g people can do for an upstanding member .

After reading everyones responses, I'm damn proud to be a member of Lateral-g!! Glad to see everyone helping out.

goodluck with the project, time to stop with the opinions and get your car done.
make a list of parts needed if any to complete the car, as many of use have new parts kicking around and we could ship them and or throw some cash in to get ur car done.
i am in if i dont have anything i will throw some money in

Give Scott a moment to get stuff in order. He should make a sticky with the link/info to the Paypal deal.

I've got a few parts laying around, but I think Anthony has most of his parts, he just needs a fixed car to put them on. :)

awr68 08-22-2008 06:38 PM

Just got home!

WOW guys this all comes as a huge shock and is very very appreciated! Curtis is right, I'm not one to ask for handouts and I have to publicly thank him for starting this thread....THANKS BROTHER!!! I had a lot bottled up to the point of feeling sick and now after telling the story in this thread I feel much better!

The paypal account is very humbling and I thank every one of you that donates anything, otherwise the only option would have been to put it on my Visa! Hell, I thank everyone just for thier outstanding support...I got pretty beat up emotionally over this deal and your generosity is getting me back on track! I knew I had a lot of friends here, but never thought anything like this would happen. We are a family here and it's awesome to see everyone come together like this!! :lateral:

I thank Scott being in charge of the money. All the donated funds will go to the body shop bill as it should...after all, this is being set up to help me get the car fixed and where it should have been the first time it was delivered...I can take it from there.

I am kinda lost for words right now...but I must thank everyone one more time for being there for me, it just means so much!

bigtyme1 08-22-2008 06:45 PM

Well we can't let you just give up, as I told you awhile ago you have to finish what you started even it take a little while longer. That's why I love this sight so much, "it's not just about the build!"

SWAPMEETCRAZY 08-22-2008 06:53 PM
