Yeah i know what you mean Rich i feel the same way about having my car at ironworks, and the more i work with Roger i can tell it's not about the money with him, he really is into the cars and the people behind them.
I havn't made plans to go down to the shop yet but my buddy Jake, who i came down with last time, has got the itch to bring his car down to the shop and have some work done maybe the full treatment so we might be heading down soon....i think if i refer a friend i get a free spoiler or something:thumbsup:

ironworks 09-20-2008 12:21 PM

I have the free spoiler for you right here in my hand. We saved it for you.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I really enjoyed last weekend hangin out with a bunch of you guys. It is really cool to have customers that are just as excited about their project as they are about each other. I think Eric described it as a Brotherhood.

Brian, you must have figured out that it was not about the money when you stay at my house. Or saw my ragged ass DOGG. I have pretty big car habit, I have just found a way to spend other people money to do it.

Thanks again guys, It is guys like you that make this Business thing worth all the effort. Cuz living the dream some days really does suck, I remember when I was so excited to work on my own car, Yeah my junk never gets touched any more.

Rodger

rich-allen 09-20-2008 05:36 PM

I've been trying to make a bumper for my hunting jeep for the past 3 months.
I cut the parts one week and they sat in a corner ever since.
That's OK, It's when I actually get time to work on my own stuff that I start to worry about not having enough back log. :)

I'm only happy when it's crazy

Speaking of which I noticed you moved your 36'(?) to the shop. What's that all about!

I might know of a set of procharger brackets for Synisters system. Made by Synister...dont quote me on it just yet. I'll ask around.

For a 1st Gen Camaro?

Thanks Bud, but we have the mockup bracket that we cut out on the water jet pretty much dialed. I need to cut one more bracket with a small few small adjustments and we should be set. If you have some Synister connections how about a copy of the instructions, I have a smallbox of left over small parts and for the life of me I cannot figure where they go or for that fact find anyone who has some instructions or will send me a copy.

Thanks

John, Brian has moved from the couch to the spare bedroom, Jake, Brians buddy, we was on couch duty, but he slept like a baby after a few coronas.

Rodger, have you asked Scott or Jody?

ironworks 09-21-2008 08:20 PM

Jody had somebody that is a vendor on here say they would FAX some to me but I got nothing. I hate to bother Jody anymore, he already went above and beyond. It was somebody else whodropped the ball. Rich says he tried and tried to get instructions but could not come up with any.

From what I have figured out nobody has instructions, MAYBE Synister should post them on the internet........ BRILLIANT...... SIMPLY BRILLIANT....

Rodger, it's no problem, I'll call them back in the morning.

You know if all else fails maybe Rich can fly you down here once he gets his pilots license in the next few weeks. I sure he would love to try out some passengers with his new license....

Or when one of the many guys from up north bring there projects down in the next few months, you could ride along and empty our small box of left over parts. We seem to be getting more and more work from up North.

WAIT...Aren't you supposed to have left over parts???? So we might be fine then.

Thanks

awr68 09-21-2008 08:53 PM

They must be spare parts!

CRCRFT78 09-21-2008 10:34 PM

I'm impressed with all of the builds you got going on but I think you need to add a G-body to your list. I hope to make it down there soon to check out your shop.

CRCRFT78 09-25-2008 05:32 AM

Any updates??

ironworks 09-25-2008 07:22 AM

The wheels were orderd monday. 18x11 and 18x8.5 With some BFG tires.

We got the tubing yesterday to build the exhaust. But they backordered the main U bend I need to start the exhaust at the header. We are going to modify the floor to suck the mufflers up into the floor so they don't hang below the body.

We made some minor tweaks to the procharger bracket and need to work on the reinforcement plates for the bracket. I was going to order the intercooler today so we could start the plumbing.

We might start laying out the center console rear soon. We got all the mods to the bumper brackets done.

I need to take the bumpers to have them stripped so we can start cutting them up for the Mods we are going to do to them.

I was going to order some baer track tie rod deals from ATS today with some adjustable spring pockets deals from ATS also to set the car at the ride height we are shooting for. Plus give us the option of playing with the spring rate. The QA 1 deals will not allow us to get that.

We will be smoothing the firewall hole and setting up the AC unit he had, to install it under the dash.

Oh and every one can sleep better we pulled the vinyl top off the car yesterday.

Sorry not much to see yet, but real soon we should have pretty bad ass monster.

Rodger

Are you going with a bell intercooler or ron davis?

ironworks 09-25-2008 09:20 AM

I'm a wholesale dealer for procharger, so I will go with them to give the customer the best deal. I may buy a bare core and make our own inlet and out let to get exactly what I want. Nobody makes an intercooler for a 67 camaro.

Rodger,
Larry has a ron davis intercooler for his 1968 project...

http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sho...t=42538&page=7

I think it would work for a 1967, but I'm not sure about that.

I like the design for the intercoolers on johns 66

ironworks 09-25-2008 10:56 AM

That thing sure looks cool, but If I can do a single inlet and outlet rich will be very happy when the bill comes. Plus it will clean up the engine compartment and not bury everything under plumbing. With that set up I would have to split the outlet from the Procharger to go to both sides and then connect them back togther for the throttle body. Since he is running twin turbos on that deal I think it is more well suited for his application.

Rodger

awr68 09-25-2008 11:21 AM

Rodger here's what I used......

ironworks 09-25-2008 11:52 AM

Thanks, that is what I was thinking just wider or possibly two of them. I'm figuring we will have to modify that hood latch support brace and also fit the Ac condensor in there. If I can do a thinner but wider intercooler it will allow more direct air to the condensor. Air flow is key to a cold AC with 134.

Rodger

awr68 09-25-2008 12:01 PM

I fit the condensor in there and just had to notch the hood latch support a little....not a big deal realy.

CRCRFT78 10-02-2008 04:37 PM

Any updates?

I posted some pics of the exhaust we are building. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

Flash68 10-02-2008 10:07 PM

Great looking exhaust. Pics of the tailpipes? Or still working on that?

i agree!
what exactally did you do to the floor pans where the mufflers are!
it looks tucked up GOOD!!!!

ironworks 10-02-2008 10:20 PM

These pics were taken today. We maight be out the back tommrrow and start figuring how to do the exhaust tips. We have a few ideas. Chevy bow ties, or I was thinking some tips in the shape if the trucker girl mud flap decoration. We got the bumpers back from the chromer on monday all stripped down so we will do our mods to them and then decide how to do the rear valance. We got 3" exhaust over the axle at will get around the full width gas tank. I need to redo that upper shock mount on the G bar that just bugs the crap out of me. It is a total waste of space. With the ride height we have it set at the lower link level but only has about 2.5" of shock travel showing. So I would have to run a stiffer spring rate to keep it from bottoming out, so By moving the pickup point up it will allow the shock to be at it's design height at ride height, so it can ride nice and not bottom out.

Sorry rant over

Flash68 It is October, how is your camaro doing? I selled the deal on one for the shop today. I should have 3 camaro's in my shop between now and SEMA.

We cut out pockets to raise the mufflers so they can be even with the subframe connectors. I can post some pics tommorrow.

Thanks

Hey Rodger,

I was gonna post some update pics today but got busy. Was just up there yesterday checking it out and taking pics. It is a lot further along than last time I saw it, that's for sure. I have him one more month (til end of Oct) and then he is moving his shop down the road so that will put him out of commission for awhile as far as getting stuff done. So I am thinking what ever condition the car is in by the end of this month, I should go get it and take it somewhere. I was gonna get in touch with you to discuss.... are you by chance coming up to Nov Good Guys in Pleasanton with that big trailer again? :D

ironworks 10-02-2008 11:08 PM

Doubtful, that is the Saturday after SEMA and the weekend of the PSCA World Finals in Fontana. We may win the championship this year. 2nd year in a row. Getting your camaro moved is no big deal. I have a few other projects brewing up in your neck of the woods.

I will be in Sacramento this weekend running the West Coast Hot Rod event. I'm supposed to look at Brent's 55 on Saturday night for some possible work.

Sounds good Rodger. Why don't I touch base in a few weeks as we approach end of month and see where things are at. Especially now that you are becoming a Camaro specialist! :D

Back to the original topic now!

I have seen Rich's Camaro, and the transformation that IRONWORKS has accomplished since late-August is phenomenal! I was supposed to go to IRONWORKS today (my day off), but I ended up going to work after all. I was looking forward to seeing Rich's car again. I'm starting to like this kind of car.... What are they called again??!!!??..... Camaros?... I even bought the latest issue of Camaro Performers......
