I went and re-read th article in HRM again. I think this car is awesome. I can't see most people choosing this swap which is what makes it great. Ingenuity and attention to detail are what drives the Hot Rod movement.

Most resto parts are made in Taiwan and China too. What some of us don't know is that are beloved American cars use a lot of imported parts and some even the entire engines are Japanese. I'm not arguing that you don't like the car, but just offering some enlightenment.

Awesome Car - I just looked at all of the pictures on your web site.

I am also happy that Hot Rod did a feature on the car

If that's your thinking fine but none of that logic makes it right. That was then, now is now.

I realize it's your right to do what you want...just as it's mine to tell you how I feel.I also realize hotrodding has always been about engine swaps and personalizing vehicles...as it has since the dawn of time.I can appreciate the car for everything that was done and the manhours spent to achieve the end-result.
You completely lost me on the motor choice and that boy-racer exhaust system...

I am glad I'm not alone in expressing my dislike for this abomination.

Sure, maybe your 1000hp dyno-queen will probably beat my 554hp solid-roller 11:1 racefuel-fed stroker motor eventually...but let's fire them both up and see which one sounds and feels like a real classic American Musclecar.:yes:I'm guessing it sounds like crap...

Musclecarjohn,

No problem with you not liking the car, I'm not even talking about that. Its more about realizing the truth. In the '60s Camaros were built by Canadians. Even to this day Camaros are built by Canadians. Chevrolet (an American Company) don't even let their own peope build the new Camaro. how do you feel about that? How is that then and now is now? Its still the same. I believe Ford Fiestas are made by Mexicans. Nothing has changed, the auto industry will build the car where it is cost effective for them, or if politics play a role. They aren't as patriotic as a brand as you would like to think. I'm 100% certain you car has parts from Taiwan and China. Whether it be a fender, rear mirror, radio deck, etc. At the end of the day its all plastic and metal from the same source.

Sure looks good with those wheels on it.

Not a fan of that style on the interior, but I applaud your taking of the road less traveled with the drivetrain. Now, get that thing out and run it!

It's been and being runned! ;) There are plenty of witnesses of this Camaro taking on super bikes. ;) Video clip on youtube of it on the lowest boost setting pulling a 2009 GT-R.

Thanks for the compliments. I'll post up more videos as I get them.

Many obtuse minded comments so far. Man, some people are harsh!
Well, I Love it! The pipes, I personally would have hid them and 45 degree'd them just before the tail panel and left them flat silver or something of that nature. Or tucked them in the inside the quarter just below the frame rail.

This car is definately a test of Technology V.S. Displacement, and I praise the challenge that you took upon yourself to embrace change. A new day is upon us!

Well, you could have dropped in a ZZ4 crate motor with a power glide, cragar ss 15" wheels and it jacked up in the back. Well, no, thats been done!

Or....Went with a BBC, trans brake, 5.13 Gear and had hell of a good time for about 10 sec. intravel's, Well, no, thats been done too!

There is an ass for every seat! I will never dis-credit someones taste in a build. Just learn from it.

Bitchen Car!

Thanks and good points! ;)

Now for a quick video clip! Short shifting and granny shifting involved, tires were spinning like crazy in all the gears. Didn't have enough room to keep going safely.

Culture Shock Camaro was well under the speed limit and this was done in an area in Mexico.

I work in the automotive business so I do realize that it's a global business,I got your point earlier.
I also realize that re-pop parts are made off-shore,that's why they look good when you get them out of the box but soon look like crap a few years later, even if the car is garaged.

Your car,your decision...

gateman 02-20-2009 07:32 PM

Ted, as a fellow business owner, I applaud you for "going against the grain"
with a 1st. gen. (I personally live for loud, thumping chevy big blocks). I think most of the posters fail to realize that this car is a huge statement of what your company can accomplish. The media and all they hype, both postive and negative, will draw alot of attention to EVS.. Can you imagine what the younger tuner crowd thinks??? I bet they love it. That is what brings in the money and opens the door to a whole new crowd of car guys...Good move:thumbsup:

By run it I did not mean street racing or hooning around on public roads.

Taking on "super bikes"? You mean on a track right? Your GT-R encounter.....on a track also?

The video is way not cool. That's a public road, you are ripping through three gears and catching up to that red SUV like its standing still. If THAT is as you say, "under the speed limit" then you got something wrong with that engine and the fact that its in Mexico......WTF! who cares where it is? It's still buffonery.

Like I said. It's a nice looking car.

But......

Vegas69 02-20-2009 09:13 PM

There is a place for it and not..I thought he slowed down enough before he got to the suv. It's really tough around here to open it up.

Your rear tires look to be 275 or smaller, you have a pic of the front tire? It looks pretty small for a 275mm. Pictures can sometimes not tell the truth, but those don't look to be 275's in the front. Scott asked on the first page about the suspension and such, what is it? weight?

i dont get the wheels....

anddddddd I dont like how it sounds. But you cant argue with how fast it could be. Would rather here a crazy turbo lsx. Not like you cant watch hundreds and hundreds of supras that sound and move just like that. But nice work putting it together.

Flash68 02-21-2009 07:50 PM

LOL... this thread is really getting hilarious.... this guy is taking heat for running through the gears on a public road somewhere? Gimme a frickin break.

And if you didn't get it why he claimed he was in Mexico while doing that, than you just don't get it.

I think I am liking this car more by the day especially since it really seems to be pissin so many people off!

Run it against your other other camaros already.....

I think the build is cool as hell. Not a fan of the panel into extended console that stretches all the way through the back seat thing.....but the rest is pretty bitchin...escpecially with the black wheels.

But..........Splattering video like that all over the net, especially in times such as these though does us no favors. As for "not getting it"....enlighten me.

Is there an autobahn system in Mexico that I was unaware of? The State Department Website makes no mention of such a thing.
Are the laws of physics somehow repealed somewhere south of the border?
Is the likelihood of an inattentive driver pulling in front of another car somehow mitigated?
Are the lives that might be lost due to street racing or just hooning around like a knucklehead somehow less valuable?

......through three gears with a 1000hp car.....unless he has the gearset out of a John Deere tractor in that thing I don't believe for a second that the speed was anything like legal. I don't like having my intelligence insulted.

I'm confused at what you point you switched from a doubter of this car, saying it was a dyno queen and 'all wrong' to being its biggest supporter....

I recall you not being a fan of it on 6speedonline for a long time for the same reasons I am not a fan. Tons of hype, videos every 3 months, a 2 year "online reveal". The car is a hype machine for EVS.

Still no performance figures, just dyno nonsense. The guy owns 3 other camaros, grab a friend go outside, race this so called "1000hp import powered" monster and put this whole debate to rest.

I wouldn't care less if the owner didn't cross post it to 5+ different forums...

To me this is just annoying spam.

great original work.

interior looks fantastic

how about a full skyline engined build next time with the 4x4 and all the yaw sensors etc working ;)

One thing that puzzles me though, lots of you guys run massive bhp/torque with what looks like very poor torsional rigidity. Do people have a lot of trouble with the shell twisting?

No reason for that feature other then bs bidding, JMO.
