Looks good. Do you have any plans to notch the top of outer wheelhouses?

camaro2nv 07-28-2009 07:36 PM

Magnum trans came today:thumbsup: But I guess the cluth and flywheel is on BO. Story of my life. I also got the other tub done. I want to weld em in sooo bad but I know its best to wait for my brakes and axles so I can get the wheels under the car first to make sure everything is a ok.

The car is coming along great! Nice parts just keep coming too!
Thanks for posting everything. It's great to see all the pro builds in the shops, I love 'em. But it really hits home when I see a guy making it all happen in his own garage. It motivates me big time! Keep it coming!

camaro2nv 08-10-2009 09:04 PM

Parts update, I got the ATS Spindles and oil pan today. The Ididit is coming tomorrow along with the axles and center section. I also placed a order for the AutoKraft engine mounts for the LS2. Parts are coming in slower them a turtle! I made a change on the brakes to the greatest and latest, lol.
I started to put the speedtech together when I noticed that the last owner didnt include any nuts or bolts. So tomorrow Ill go pick some up. Ill have a updated picture tomorrow. :woot:

70rs 08-10-2009 09:07 PM

No nuts?? I hate that!!

awr68 08-10-2009 09:07 PM

Sweet! How did you get the spindles so fast? I thought your order didn't go threw?

Keep up the good work and killer shopping skills! ;) :woot:

camaro2nv 08-10-2009 09:20 PM

Tyler got me back on the list because of what happened. :hail: The pan is pretty killer also but the gasket and AN fittings had to come from someone else. I hope to see them by next week. With the baby on the way at the end of the month I just feel the need to get done as much as I can now. I would like to have the car on the ground by then.

70rs 08-10-2009 09:50 PM

I had forgotten about the baby coming. That is great!! Keep us posted on that please. I hope everything goes well.

camaro2nv 08-11-2009 01:10 PM

A new baby and a camaro project. You are going to be one busy dude. I'd guess they will both be well worth the trouble.

Don't freak out. It will be the best kind of change you could ever imagine. (except the first few months of ZERO sleep). But after that it is awesome, even the sleepless nights ( i hope you don't have that many) are really worth it.

Those extras do add up quick huh? It's all those little things that are required, just can't get away from that. It's coming together nice though. I tell ya, I know I have been wanting to do the level of shopping you've done recently!! I imagine there are alot of guys reading this thread that wish they could too. Serious power shopping!

I keep on hearing about the no sleep thing. That will be tough! As for the change I think it will be a good one. Its time to slow down a bit, Im sure she'll make us,lol.
Ok took off a hour early to get the Subframe together. Turns out Im missing a couple key bolts for the sway bar. But all in all its very close.

Awesome build. Love the different choice of wheels and color. Don't see many Forgiatos on muscle cars!

You must be close to Gearhead Garage where my car is being finished. Hope to see your whip soon!

camaro2nv 09-07-2009 06:20 PM

Well back in the garage! The baby has been napping so I sneak away to do some work.
Im still waiting for all my other parts to roll in. Willwood sent me the rears but Im still waiting on the fronts. These are the W4A, from what Frank told me these are the first to go on a rear or a car. They are BIG! The rotors are 14in and calipers are 11in long. I picked black because I want them to match the car color. So they will be painted to match. The fronts are W6A with a 14.25 rotor. Ill post them once I get em.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...v/DSC_0591.jpg
I have to do more work to get the rear wheels on. Seems the bore size is off by a hair! Its very close, I might just do some sanding to get them to go on.

GregWeld 09-07-2009 06:45 PM

Love the brakes!

Hey -- in the beginning of this post - your car is shown with some "tubs" on the ground in one of the pics ... then later on you show building your own... What happened to cause that?

Still love those Forgiatos! :>)

Vegas69 09-07-2009 07:31 PM

Nice.....do yourself a favor and make sure you don't have a brake pad knock back issue on the rear end. You will need a dial indicator and must remove the brake pads. I don't know if the issue has been resolved with the axle retainer that wilwood provides yet or not? Now is the time to deal with it if there is a problem.

I ended up going with the Morrison rear clip. With the new rails I wanted something that would butt up to the rails, cleaner look. I cant get that with the DSE tubs. Im also running a 345 rear tire. I need all the room I can get! The goal is to weld the new tubbs to the rails and grind smooth. Then finish them out and paint the underside the body color.

Hmm should I just use the one Morrison sent? Its thicker. Nothing is set as of yet. This is just mock up.

Are they specifically for a wilwood setup? I tweaked one of my wilwood retainers a hair. I ended up with a set of currie retainers that go all the way around the bearing. On mine you could see the bearing move away from the retaining clip with your bare eyes! I had over .020 on both sides. I was able to get it down to .005 and .006 with the currie plates. Do yourself a favor an measure it now while it's mocked up. Wilwood was working on a new design when I talked to them 2 months ago. The new design was shimmable.

70rs 09-07-2009 08:29 PM

Wow! Monster brakes!! Looking great Steve! I must have missed it, but what is the final color going to be?

Is the baby letting YOU sleep yet??
Just wait. Someday she will be changing your diapers and loosing sleep taking care of you. What goes around comes around.

I understand about the color thing. I am bouncing around a little too. But there is a lot to do before that needs to be decided.

That wheel looks great on there!
