WOW LOOKS REALLY COOL. But are you really going to race that chassis in just over 3 weeks from today? Wow if you make it I will buy you a beer of Root beer if you not 21.
Also take lots and lots of pics of the rolling chassis, you will be glad you did. I did studio shots or mine and it was worth it. Good luck, and good luck without sleep. Rodger |
That frame is killer but man, you have a TON of work to do in the next two weeks!!! :wow:
You driving the truck in the challenge? Man, I can't wait to see this thing done! |
WOW!!
That sure will stand out! Great job guys.  |
Nice project, always love anything incorporated with the corvette suspension.
Looks like you know your way around solid works pretty good. Good luck on your deadline. Dave |
Lets just say I love pressure, and monster.
Huge power outage took out a bunch of the lights in the shop and put us to a stand still for a few hours, that was fun. Cross that with a problem on our transmission (thanks McLeod, for the headache) that's why the cabs not on, the transmission needs a few parts mocked up with the body off and right now, the transmission is still in pieces on the bench. I think Mark at Forte Parts has a shifter mover that will work for our project. Will keep posted here. A few quickly taken photos, no, we're not normally this messy and I'll get Brianne to take some good ones before we drop the cab on. http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-1.jpg http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-3.jpg http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-4.jpg The Vintage Air Pulley system. This thing is awesome. It came with a water pump and the lower balancer. http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-6.jpg Exhaust all warped up to keep heat in the exhaust http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-2.jpg Cab and other parts all painted up waiting on the chassis. http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-7.jpg http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-8.jpg New production diff adapter, I almost have a price on these for you guys. http://www.hotrodjim.com/immages/pro...ate/05/s-5.jpg I need to get back over here. Brianne, our driver, works for us part time doing oddball jobs, photography and abusing my cars so I can watch them break and fix the weak points. You might be able to tell which photos she took and the ones I took considering she's has a degree in photography. -Russell |
I LOVE the frame, the design behind it is phenomenal

Guys 24 means 200+ miles an hour. :hail: :hail: That's right this chick did 200 on a bike in under a mile from a standing start, she's nuts. Probably why she's fast. After that I let her drive the 57 then she started taking photos for us and driving so I could work on the cars and chassis in the time frame we had available to us. She'll be working our shop booth at SEMA. -Russell |
Is she hot?
Just kidding.. Does she have a brother named Kevin that use to autocross? That fast on a bike is nuts.. |
I'm 6'5 mius 4.5" and I have to look up to her She has race very thing from BMX to bike at pike peak. she is good looking girl that has no problem put a fender on you if you are are in her way.

And besides who's setting your car up Steve, I could have asked Lance Adams or Bill Dollahite to drive, that would've been funny. -Russell |

My suspension builder is setting up my car.. why? I'm going up there in a couple of days to put the darn thing back together.. I need to stop doing the "SEMA thrash".. this is the third year and it get's tiring. If I could repaint Penny I would steal the paint job from your truck.. ever since I was a kid I've love the whole flying tigers deal. |

Hi Russell, luv the truck. Can I ask with the the C6 suspension what did you set your castor angles for the hubs both front and rear?
Cheers Tim |

I didn't mean to strike a nerve.. hmm, I guess this is where you find people's true character. Thanks for sharing! :) |

So the beer sounds like a fine idea. :) But seriously.. that post of yours.. that stuff just get's old. Maybe if you guys win than people can hate one you for no other reason than you won and they are pissed about it. That's a odd reward for working your ass off and trying to do something for the hobby, huh? |
Will you both shut up.
Sorry Steve, I was being sarcastic and we all know how hard that is to convey here on the internet. Kendall, go to sleep I need to see you here in the morning. We arn't running yet so unless we plan to push this thing faster than the penny we're screwed. Thanks Steve, Ben did a hell of a job taking my buddy's knapkin drawing and making in uber cool. We're going to do it all as a sticker so I can play with the design a little in the future if I feel like it. Quote:
I keep the 7 degrees caster on the front and the the 8.5 degrees of king pin angle using the .25 cast in camber. I'll probably run no more than 1.5 degrees of negative camber on the front when its all said and done. Now I just need to make sure my models will work in real life. -Russell |

Hell, anyone can win.. I didn't plan on winning last year either.. just run hard and hope the racing gods are with you. Sleep? what the hell are you talking about.. you have a truck to finish! |

Thanks Russell I was going to set my front castor at 6.5. Not sure how much difference there is between the Corvette C5 and C6 settings. Is your rack location close to factory spec's to stop any bump steer.
Cheers Tim |
Thanks Kendall and Steve for the kind words.

I also have 1.5 degrees of negative camber.. but I have sperical bearings so the zero deflection means I always have 1.5 degrees. With rubber some guys dial in more neg camber to compensate for the deflection. In regards to bump steer, a quick way to check is to make sure your tie rods are dead parralel to your lower control arms. |
Cheers Steve excellent advice, Chassis is now on the Chassis table, time to sit back and wait of my ZO6 C5 rolling chassis.:( . Coming from Cleveland pick a part. Gus and the guys there offer a good old fashion service.
Cheers Tim |
I try to reply but you box was full.

I was on my way to the coast last week from Austin and tried to find the shop becuase I wanted to see this truck in person but I had no such luck..
