Can you wait about 18 months?

I should be done with it in 6-8 weeks tops. Then I'll get it back to Tony.

How about this? Do what you need to do then bring it to Bruning for some work and then we can just swap cars on the rotisseries.
Tony needs room in the tool shed and the garage for when his car comes back. so he can start assembly of his car.

I can do that too! Is yours on one there? Did you mean bring my car to Brunings too? Hmmmm.....that is a good idea.....:_paranoid

awr68 08-25-2009 03:51 PM

I think Bob meant bring the rotisserie to BAD so he could use it....

Thanks, I appreciate it. Progress has been very slow this last week. Every nut, bolt and screw in the front end is rusted solid and I am having to cut everything apart.:censored: I was going to have it up on the rotisserie last weekend but it didn't happen. I think I will have it on it next weekend as long as I can still find cutoff wheels around here and get it all apart. I already bought out two different stores stock of 3" wheels.

Project in a holding pattern for a while. Have to handle some personal issues that are a priority and that requires redirecting funds. I'll post an update down the road when it starts up again.

Found it! Good stuff right there. I knew it was a Hermance design. He does great work. I love what he did with our rendering. When we get further along, I'll post it. Keep up the great work. Oh and you sound like you are doing a great job with your son as well. I know some of what you are dealing with. I have twin 5 year old girls.:faint:

Twin girls? Oh man, better you than me. LOL!

Thanks for the kind words though. The school deal is a real test of my resolve and patients.

Ben was great to work with, a lot of talent and a hell of a nice guy.
Post yours soon, I'd like to see it.

70rs 06-18-2011 11:49 AM

Well, it has been a long time since this thread had any news worth posting.
Starting Monday I will be digging the car out of storage and getting back to work on things.
I am really excited about tearing back into this!:D

awr68 06-18-2011 12:32 PM

Well its about time! Does this mean you aren't going to help me any more? J/k....very happy to hear this, Eric! You have great plans for this car!

70rs 06-18-2011 12:34 PM

Thanks buddy!
I will help out on yours......every time I pass through Oregon. Lol!

awr68 06-18-2011 12:41 PM

Deal! At least you aren't charging me storage for the rotisserie! Lol

Good thing you are not charging me rent on that! Haha!

So the plan for the Camaro is......BUDGET.
That means an iron block based LS engine, as many GM factory components as possible (ls3 cam, L92 heads, LS3 intake & TB.....)
I will also use a T56 with a factory type clutch set up. Corvette based brake system. You get the idea.
The suspension up front will keep the original subframe but use aftermarket upper & lower arms, spindles and hubs.
The rear will be all aftermarket/custom. More on that later.

Interior, yet to be decided. But I will have new seats and custom console, door panels and rear side panels too. Those items I will build myself. In fact, 99% of the entire build will be done by me.

The last 2 years have sucked on a personal level. No other way to put it. Things are getting much better now and it's time to get back into the project.
I have made a bunch of great friends here at Lat-g and I wanted to say thank you for all of the support over those difficult times.
Now.....on with the fun stuff!

scherp69 06-18-2011 01:58 PM

Glad to hear things are going better for you Eric. It's nice when your on a roller coaster ride to go up for a while. I know the past few years have been quite a roller coaster ride in our house. Thankfully we've been going up for a while now. Hope it stays that way for you. Make sure to post some pics soon. Hell even take some pics of how it sits now all covered in dust just waiting to be dragged back out.

70rs 06-18-2011 02:12 PM

Hi Mike! Im glad to hear things are good with you.
I will get some pics Monday from the storage unit its in.

I dont have any delusions of making giant leaps on this, but anything in the way of progress will do me just fine.

NOT A TA 06-18-2011 02:31 PM

Glad to see you got to keep the car through the tough times and you can get back to making progress on it!

coolwelder62 06-18-2011 03:23 PM

Good to hear Eric!

Now kick some ass and take some names!

:woot:

BTW..... Are you and Anthony going into your second decade on the build??  :willy:  Just giving you both crap here.... as I'm the first one to tell anyone that listens - "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans". So dang true!

Flash68 06-18-2011 04:28 PM

Eric, that's great news. Glad to see things are improving for you, and I really like your budget minded but very well thought out plans for the car.

Thanks! I would love to go all out on the parts list, but in reality I just don't need to. I am confident I can build a great performer that also looks good for a reasonable amount.

Every time you think about high dollar builds and parts -- just ask yourself "what would Mary and David Pozzi do?" --- because they kicked every 100K+ cars butt with a nice simple small block and leaf springs.... in a simple straight forward car. Mind you -- driving skill is the winner there every time -- but nonetheless -- it was done in a nice, simple, well sorted, relatively inexpensive car.

Bingo! Her car and the results she has had with it (before the make over) were a big part of why I decided to go this route. Well that AND a serious lack in the budget area. Lol!

I am Blake. Very. But a little nervous too. I will be taking on several areas that are new to me and I don't want to screw it up. But, no better way to learn than by doing it myself right? Lol!

waynieZ 06-19-2011 11:27 AM

Glad to hear your doing well and you'll get to go back to work on the car. I'll be looking for those pictures.

Home? No. but I did clear out space to work on it.
I am hoping to drag it to my dads shop. But he is a little "challenged" for space. I may have to turn my storage unit into a work area for now. I do have lights and power in the unit. But there is furniture and house hold crap in there too. I need to organize it better then I should be fine for now.

MaxHarvard 06-20-2011 05:42 PM

Can't wait to see it when it gets back :)

awr68 06-20-2011 05:43 PM

Well that's progress!
