Hey Chris -- you might say your billet parts are "cutting edge"... LOL

Tail Panel Exhaust Openings

We are looking at different ways for the tail panel for the exhaust tips.. This will probably the route we take.. Nothing like machining a solid pcs of steel!!

Firebirds rule

Great project how much of a tub did you do, I did a 3" on my second gen but I'm not sure how big I can go i'm thinking about 315-35r-18. Why not throw a little boost to that bird that LS2 can take at least 8-10lbs of boost

customcam 02-02-2010 05:06 PM

Sweeet They look cool!

GMracer 02-02-2010 05:17 PM

Damn I love the detail in the machining!
I wish I could get the hang out solid works. I'm steady in CAD but teaching myself Solidworks is proving to be difficult

Cris@JCG 02-02-2010 06:31 PM

Thanks guys!! We got plenty more one off parts for this bird!

Cris@JCG 02-02-2010 06:45 PM

We tubbed it & moved the frame rails to gain about 3 inches & loosen the qtr panel face to move it a bit to get these tires underneth it.. Have not tubbed a 2nd gen yet to answer that question for you, but I am sure that somebody else on this site can answer that one for you..

I have been trying to convince the owner for us to superchagre his LS2, but won't budge yet..

Hydraulic clutch quick disconnect fitting

GM's latest way to connect fuel lines & some hydraulic lines have a plastic quick disconnect fitting, especially the hydraulic thow out bearing on a T56 transmisson. We wanted to keep the quick disconnect on the thow out bearing but needed for it to be able to run a flexline for AN -4 fitting. Solution.. We machine up an aluminum fitting!!! Pic are not that great but hope you can see what what we did.. Also will looking @ better way to get to the top bleeder on the throw out bearing.. Got plenty more custom fittings coming for this build.. We will be plumbing in the next couple of weeks!!

Cris --

For the bleeder on the '55 car I'm doing == I used a AN tee... and just put an AN cap on the one leg... was easy - and I could locate it anywhere it needed to be.

Nice idea on the quick connect hookup!

I wonder if the GM "bubble" quick connect would hold the pressure for the clutch? They're running 60 psi on the fuel system -- and 100 on the LS9 motors but I don't know if the LS9 is running the same fuel connections as the other LSx's are... I have a hydraulic GM bubble flare tool ---- and I bought an aluminum polished quick connect to AN -8 (might have been a 6) Male from Street and Performance (if I remember right)...

Of course the clutch is using -4 or -3 so the -6 might be too large and or create other "connection" issues...

Cris@JCG 02-13-2010 05:54 PM

Great solution on the bleeder Greg!

The cool part about buying a motor & trans from Cleveland Parts is that you get everthing.. We got the brake/clutch pedals with the master cylinder & hoses.. We grabbed the hose that hooks up to the throw out bearing & dimensioned & machined exactly as the GM one.. so I don't see a problem with it holding the pressure per factory specs.. The only reason we made this fitting is because it nice to have the option for 90 or 45 deg fitting for the braided flex hose..

The last car we did we ordered the braided flex hose that Classic MTSP does in their conversions.. Worked great when plumbing the throw out bearing but we wanted options..

Tail Panel with Bumper

Here is the latest status on the bird.. We have rough finishes on the rear bumper with tail pipe openings.. We just finished the design on the tail pipe hangers & will have a pin to hold hangers with rubber o-rings to allow expansion of exhaust @ the rear.. When we machine these pcs I will post pic on how the concept works :D
