http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/IMAG0342.jpg http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...6/IMAG0345.jpg |
practice makes it perfect. I finally made some nice double flares on the cunifer brake lines :)
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...3/IMAG0358.jpg I just ordered one 285-30-20 falken FK-453 tire for test fitting my rear 20x10 rims. can't wait to receive the rims :) |
just arrived yesterday :) now only the rims have to arrive
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...s/IMAG0363.jpg |
205/70-14 vs. 285/30-20
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0370.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0374.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0376.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0377.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0379.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0387.jpg fender lips needs to be rolled and need to widen the inner wheeltubs. maybe will cut stock out and get universal fenderwells from summit like this? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G7908/ what do you think about that kit from summit? anyways - I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! ;) |
woohoo got the wheels!!!!! :D
20x10 http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...9/IMAG0388.jpg on the left its the 20x8.5 and on the right the 20x10 http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...9/IMAG0389.jpg got some more work done today. will put body back on frame to bring the whole thing to another location for work on the body. some cut and welds and getting ready for paint in few weeks. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0410.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0411.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0413.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0415.jpg just got my rear wheel back from the tire guy. 285/30-20 Falken FK453 on Showwheels Streeter 20x10 Custom Black http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0420.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0421.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...1/IMAG0422.jpg :D |
It's coming along nicely Kev.  Keep the pics coming. What color are you gonna be going with when you paint it in a few weeks?
|
Great news Kevin !! glad they got there. those tires look sweet on there.
Enjoy.. |
thanks guys!
will paint the car black like the rendering in my signature ;) today's update. test fitted my 20x10 wheel and oh well it looks SWEET!!!! :D http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMAG0443.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMAG0447.jpg brought body back on frame, put the stock rear end back on and tested the wheels again - wheel rubs bad on inside of the frame. will try a wheel adapter to make it fit but maybe will also notch the frame a little. but will test with a adapter first. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMAG0450.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMAG0453.jpg |
unfortunately front wheels won't clear C5 calipers/brakes without spacers. but I'll get some 20mm adapters/spacers on rear and will try them on front as well.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...0/IMAG0457.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...0/IMAG0454.jpg fronts are 20x8.5 with 5.25 BS and rears are 20x10 with 5.5 BS oh and here some pics of my sweet nice doors :D http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...0/IMAG0462.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...0/IMAG0466.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...0/IMAG0459.jpg |
Some more work Kev! Nothing you could not fix!
|
thanks! :)
I test fitted H&R 20mm adapters/spacers on each side today. for first on fronts - now the front wheels clear the C5 calipers  http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0529.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0530.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0532.jpg so I tried the 20mm spacer on the rear and it looked like this: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0548.jpg I think it looks okay and clears the frame now - but I think I want 30mm spacers now :D just added some washers to simulate a 30mm spacer: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0555.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0557.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0558.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0560.jpg Please note there's no weight/interior/doors/engine in the car so thats why the suspension is pretty high right now LOL oh and here's another cool shot (with 20mm spacers): http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...4/IMAG0553.jpg |
Looking fine now! Even with the 20mm spacers. You probably need to roll the fenders with 30mm.
|
I agree with Knaller the 30's might be tight to the outside.
|
thanks guys! yeah I'll cut and roll the fenders lips
|
today I cut my rear fender lips a little. stock lips are about 1" wide.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/IMAG0573.jpg I half cut them and will roll them later to clear the tires. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/IMAG0576.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/IMAG0579.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/IMAG0584.jpg |
I removed the rear springs yesterday and set the car's height to what I want the ride height later. I wanted to see if it'll fit with the trimmed fenders lips and the 30mm spacer. Looks like I just need to roll the lips now and I'll be set.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0601.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0610.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0615.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...5/IMAG0616.jpg |
I'm glad its going to work out for you.
|
the project was on hold for a little while because I've been busy with wedding organisation and stuff. my fiance and me are getting married next week (May 25th) so that's why no updates on the monte for a while. just tried to make the Monte ready for the wedding but oh well.. lot of other stuff came in and plus a long dang cold winter.
but as we speak there are some more new parts on the way to continue work on the car. already got new rear wheels tubs laying and a cammed LS3 6.2 out of a 2011 camaro :D |
finally picked up my LS3 6.2 480HP this week yeehaaw! :D
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...613_181109.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...613_172126.jpg |
He looks happier than a young boy getting his first bicycle ! :D
|
haha yeah that's right! :D here some more pics of it.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMG_1345.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMG_1342.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...7/IMG_1346.jpg |
Nice motor Kevin. That should move the Monty very nicely!
|
It looks cool Kevin.
Are you leaving it "as is" or making any changes? Ron Sutton |
thanks guys! I think I'll leave the LS3 "as is" - should have enough fun to start with! :D
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...720-WA0000.jpg monte's still waiting for buddy's new garage to move in. in there we finally can start with the body (cut, weld and primer). here's a pic of last weekend. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...821-WA0000.jpg now I need your thought on this. since I love the 77 Trans Am and their shaker hood scoops, I thought to add one on my monte carlo hood. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...oop/scoop0.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...oop/scoop1.jpg the 77 scoops also got the sharp edge on top that would match to the monte carlo hood.. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...coop/hood0.jpg here's a newer monte carlo with a t/a shaker. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...coop/hood1.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...coop/hood2.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...coop/hood3.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h1...coop/hood4.jpg I'd try to make it to a functional air intake for the stock LS3 intake - depending on clearance between hood and engine.. what do you think? |
I like the idea of the shaker, especially the 77 with the nice body line.
|
Nice motor Kevin. I like the idea of the shaker hood.
|
thanks guys :)
