Thanks Chris and Brent. Bet those could be made to work on a 55! Better call Roger.

camaro2nv 11-27-2009 10:01 PM

Unreal, you think you've seeen the best and then someone else posts something new. Someone just raised the car. I guess Ill have to get down to that shop! My buddy Josh keeps buggin me to go. Im going to have to take him up on it.

CG3D 11-27-2009 10:50 PM

I can verify after closing the door and being used to 'normal' gm latches and then almost wrapping the door around the a-pillar from the outside-in...these are some incredible latches...you could push the door shut with a feather.
I think I almost gave Jason a heart attack when I ...um...'closed' the door with a little less 'finesse' than was required. (He did say "try closing the door" like it was difficult....pfft ...)

T_Raven 11-28-2009 12:33 AM

That's a pretty cool idea with the latches. Do you guys usually find normal latches all that hard to close though? I love the way my 67's doors shut compared to all of my newer vehicles. They close with little effort, I'm always yelling at people for slamming them.

nvr2fst 11-28-2009 09:28 AM

Jason,
Lookin good every time you post!

War 11-28-2009 10:52 AM

Thanks Dave

monza 11-28-2009 11:26 AM

Jason as I mentioned earlier, killer build! Just curious, your cars at Marquez shop, do you work there or your there building with him mentoring over your shoulder? Are they doing the new work? Did you do most of this before going to his shop? I guess I'm just blown away... if it's your first time doing this how professional and over the top WAR is looking. Hopefully my question makes sense and is not read with a negative tone?

Anyways maybe my question is really just a big compliment, keep the pics coming, love the build!

Dave,

First thanks for the compliment. It is my first time doing this, I'm a carpenter by trade. I do not work there, I did for a few weeks before Sema to help them on the 56. Pascual was gracious enough to let me use a corner of the shop and his cool tools. It is also nice to have him there to bounce design ideas of of, he has a ton of them. He comes up with the design ideas, I build it. I just keeps snowballing.

DFRESH 11-28-2009 12:01 PM

Wow---maybe being addicted to drugs or alky would be cheaper---after looking at this thread a couple times a week, I have some serious wants.

You are doing an amazing job---I wish that a build book could be done on your ride---I would love a hard copy of all these details--ie the latches---there are so many one off and amazing artistic yet functional things happening here. Please keep sharing them with us---

Doug

War 11-29-2009 07:59 PM

Doug,

Thanks alot. I was looking at your car, very nice. I envy you being able to drive it and taking your kids to the shows.

Here is a shot of the rearend mocked up at ride hieght. The panhard bar worked out real well on the new crossmember and now have plenty of room for exhaust,filter/regulator, and shock resevoirs. I now have a 13.5" eye to eye measurment for the shocks. The floor was also raised for the mufflers to have more ground clearance.

And here is the tire clearance. I took them out as far as I could and still clear.
And Johnny, no wheels were harmed in the taking of these pictures.

Novelli 11-30-2009 03:27 PM

Looks great guys, its nice to see that alot of pride was taken even in the areas that will never be seen in the finished product, the sad part is 99.9 percent of the people out there will never understand the amount of time and work that went into that. As a builder I can appreciate it! Glad to see some more local boys doing nice work. Are you going to coat the bottom or paint it?

Jason,
I Talked to Rodger about our joking PMs.... you never now?

WSSix 11-30-2009 07:11 PM

Amazing. I love the work.

Nick.V70 11-30-2009 07:41 PM

BADASS!!!!!

Jason so I take it this car turned out to be a bigger project than you first figured. I know you told me you where having alot of work done to your car but man I never thought it would have this much detail done to it.

WSSix 12-01-2009 09:40 AM

Ok, sort of off topic but possibly not. Who owns Orion and who's building it? I've seen it mentioned and I thought a Jason was the owner? Is this the same car or another one? Just curious as it seems Orion is a very elusive yet extremely popular car and has fab work done to it along the lines of War here. So yeah, I'm confused and looking for more info on Orion. Someone unconfuse me please.

Trey,
Orion is owned by Jon LaRue a mod on this site and Marquez is building the car. This is my car, a different one, that Marquez is doing work to as well. I just can't divulge any information on what that is yet. I can say it is alot of new product that is going to be available to purchase.

You can see pics of Orion on there site as well as here.

I even like floors in my truck beds.

WSSix 12-01-2009 04:28 PM

Thanks for clarifying Jason. I hope they both get done around the same time as well. Sooner than later of course.
