Been a while since I updated this thread.. We had all of our attention placed on the "Boss Snake" to get it done for its debut in Scottsdale last weekend... We have started making the fan shroud and inner fender panels.. We were anxious to get rolling on this project once again so watch for more updates real soon!

Sinco 03-17-2010 06:39 AM

Very nice build!! What type of hood hinges are you using? Love the engine compartment.

We are using the stock hinges on this build... Thanks for the compliments!

UPDATE!! Ring Brothers made us a set of one off hinges for the build... One other thing I didnt mention is the wheelbase is streched so that also helps with tire clearance...

tones2SS 03-17-2010 08:14 AM

Great looking work guys!

Yea that's going to be one badass 62 Nova. keep the pictures and updates coming. It gives me inspiration on finishing my 66.

One question on the hinges? We tried to use stock on my 66 but they hit the tires because of the cars ride height. You don't have a clearance issue with the tires? Again very nice build!

We moved the hinges up as far as we possibly could... It is tight but should not have any clearance issues unless we get it airborn... :unibrow:

Do you have anymore pictures of the car with the wheels on them? How do you like them, typical billet specialties perfection? :hail:

RPM HOTRODS 03-18-2010 08:10 AM

I don't have to many with the wheels on it but i'll work on it. The wheels are kick ass quality as usual from Billet Specialties, I didn't have them polish the center out just because we will be powdering them when the colors are finally determined. Thanks

What are you guys using to smooth out the welds? They have a bronze-ish color? Just curious if you are using some sort of a metallic filler or something after they are welded and ground to give them that extra smooth look.

Thanks

We used a silicon bronze rod to weld that area with... It is easier to grind and finish...

wiedemab 03-25-2010 08:16 AM

Cool - thanks. That is what I would have guessed, but wasn't sure.

Roadster Shop 03-26-2010 03:14 PM

metal work looks OK, but damn!! who built that chassis, it looks killer in those engine compartment pics, are you gonna run those sheet metal panels and cover that fancy chassis work up or are they temporary? Just messin with you, sheet metal work looks amazing, always impressed with your work!!

Time for a few updates... We worked with the Ring Brothers to come up with a one off set of hinges for this car.. They work and look great!! We also finished the belly pans under the rear of the car between the quarters and the fuel tank.. We also are making a chin spoiler for under the front bumper, raised sheetmetal floor mat panels that will sit flush with the rug and will have a non slip type of material inserted and lastly installed the fuel filler cap in the top of the quarter panel..

EBMC 04-19-2010 04:28 PM

The details are amazing! Great job!

G-Body 04-19-2010 05:21 PM

Wanted to post some updated pics... Here are the center consoles we made for the car.. THe front houses the start/stop button, Vintage Air controls and the brake bais knob..

We cut apart the front fenders and moved the wheel opening forward an inch for greater tire clearance...

Stay tuned for more updates!!

tones2SS 05-14-2010 07:27 AM

Very nice guys.
Keep up the great work.

I just thought I'd check back in to see if there are any updates that can be given on the "Runt".

Hopefully it is progressing along - getting close????

UPDATES!!!! Sorry I have not updated this is quite some time.. The car has gotten a lot of attention from a few performance manufacturers who have seen it and are currently showing us a few cutting edge products that have been worth slowing the build down... Its very exciting and all coming together.. We are in Ft Worth Texas for the Goodguys show right now but I will post some new pics when I get back to the shop... Stay tuned!! Its gonna be worth the wait!!!
