Frank -- Keep it all "Pontiac" -- put an LS GTO take out in it!

LOL

They'd still hate it - AND now you know why I quit the NCRS!!

tgvettes 01-24-2010 07:13 PM

oh god Greg where you in NCRS? I have owned a bunch of Corvettes and used to belong to a few local Corvette clubs and had to deal with NCRS a bit. I'm happy you recovered.

I don't drink - don't smoke - and don't do NCRS.... I overdid all of them.

:woot:

the NCRS guys practically drove me out of the corvette hobby. I couldn't stand them.

The guy that bid on Empty Nest in Vegas would of got a much better deal this time around.

I think it is pretty amazing that BJ would take a car back because the buyer can't emission it in the state he lives. I think that should be up to the buyer before he buys something to check that out.

i loved the car and thought the theme was dead nuts. very nice:thumbsup:

Tonny -

Silver auctions warns people REPEATEDLY that if you are a NEVADA resident - to NOT bid on a car that didn't SMOG... So either BJ is a complete newb at this and didn't warn the bidders -- or the bidder wasn't paying attention...

When you sign over your title at BJ no reserve auction - THEY are the seller - and when they hammer it SOLD IT SOLD IT SOLD IT... it's THEIR problem. They did the right thing by asking Frank if he'd rather try again at Scottsdale -- or they'd pay him the selling price. Very nice and proper of them in my opinion. Who knows - Frank may have been unhappy with the price - or wanted to gamble that maybe he'd get more at Scottsdale... but that was for him to decide. As it happens - he gambled correctly and is happy.

Especially when he looks in that fun house mirror....

New owner called today, he is pretty damn excited. BJ told him someone in California had it and was playing with it until a couple weeks ago. BJ also showed him their notes, they expected $155K for it!

I guess the console is crushed, maybe someone sat on it? He asked if there was anything I would do to it, I explained I would tame the engine down, change the camshaft (smaller). It might very well be coming home to Florida.

He says he has 20 cars, shows them, drives them all a little. He is not going to beat on this one. I was real up front about a car with a pearl white engine compartment gets pretty heat stained when driven a lot (I know). He realizes it is a show piece and promises to keep it 100% perfect forever. It even sounds like I might have acsess to it or he may show up at places we go. Would that not be cool. This is interesting to say the least.

That's good to hear Frank! Maybe you gain a loyal customer - and that would really make the sale "worthwhile"!

The new owner should be pretty happy -- he stole it...

Isn't it funny how things always work out for the best? Congrats Frank...

I, too liked the theme and how the car turned out.

Next up for me...the Arizona Nationals drag races in Chandler...

Greg...something cool is going to happen there...more later on that as items get confirmed!

Sounds good Frank...

Rybar 01-26-2010 11:01 AM

That is very cool, seems like a win-win for you and the new owner.

And BJ lost a few bucks but I am sure they made up for the tiny loss in thier books.... :_paranoid

That's pretty funny! Guess it won't make HPP either, since those guys can't ever get over "corporate power"...even though the last pathetic pontiac motor waived by by in the 80's!
