Well I had the brakes lock up on me cruising down the road. I had smoke rolling off the pads like no other. Removed spacer and all is good…..I hope! I think once I get the money I’m going to lose the booster and go with a manual 7/8 bore MC set up because the brakes just aren’t hooking up the way I would like them to. :morepower

Mover 06-09-2010 08:18 PM

New camera and shot a vid cruising around the neighbor hood. Still need to read up on how to setup audio. Oh plus I wanted to check the brakes to make sure I had no issues.

Very cool Craig. I take it, she ran well!

Track Days!

Alright guys headed to track days at Motorsport park in Hastings to get some seat time. I was nervous as hell the first time out because I could see myself dieing a fiery death but by the end of the day I was flying around the track.

I’m still trying to figure my camera out so the audio is not the greatest.

That's awesome Craig. I take it she ran well and no brakes issues?

Yeah she ran great! The brakes still need to be redone because they went soft going into some corners and I’m talking pedal to the floor soft. I’ve got some deep gears and the straight ways were rough and cost me some time but I could power through corners like no other.

Sounds good. Once you get that brake issue resolved, you should be flying around that track!
GOOD LUCK and nice car.

My son talked me into going to a car show tomorrow so we spent the evening cleaning. We decided to take it out to the famous Great Platte River Archway Monument here in town to snap some pictures.

A New Chapter

This is my first time ever doing autox at KC Goodguy’s show. I’m going to need some practice and better brakes. In 6 runs I did manage to reduce over 6 seconds off my time but still not good enough.

tones2SS 09-09-2010 07:38 AM

Keep at it buddy. You'll be shaving more and more time off as you go!

A small update!

I missed the last autocross event of the season but my car went through some minor upgrades. Once I get the money I’m going to add 3” drop springs for the rear to help level out my car and upgrade to 6 piston calipers up front.

http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/2934/1014037.jpg

After the autocross in KC and getting tossed around like a rag doll I decided to install race seats.
http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/7707/1014038h.jpg

Mover 05-13-2011 05:36 PM

So I switched out my front calipers to a 6 piston and it made a world of difference. It’s amazing what a few extra square inches of stopping surface will do. Anyway, I got the car setup for my first SCCA event and she was hooking up great but I really need to learn not to over power my car around corners. It might help upgrading my tires to a DOT race slick just to keep up with the rest of the cars in my class. Either way had a blast and each run my time got faster.

So this summer I was knocking down some laps at MPH and going around corner 5 started hearing some noise coming from engine. Not taking any chances loaded the car and headed home to see what was going on…well come to find out ended up blowing a head gasket and filling 3 cylinders full of water. The engine bay was dripping wet with antifreeze and a pain in the butt to clean up. Well got her back together a couple weeks before the KC goodguys and she’s running better than ever.

While at KC doing the autocross I just couldn’t seam to break that 30 second mark so I gave the keys to Kevin Miller and Kyle Tucker to see if they could break the 30 second mark. I didn’t get a video of Kevin but did get one with Kyle. Oh and did I mention that I couldn’t get my 10 year old son out of my car!!! I didn’t even get to ride along with Kevin or Kyle because Zach jumped in the car before I could. Here’s a quick video of Kyle and Zach doing the GG autocross.

Mover 11-10-2011 04:44 PM

So I ended up buying a fays2 watts link for my car in hopes for better traction. I’m also thinking about a strong arms and adjustable coil over shocks for this winters upgrades.

Craig that looks like a pretty sweet setup! Sounds like you need to talk with Natha and get some driving lessons at Hastings, that lady can flat out drive!

I think I just need a faster car!! :unibrow: We'll see you Saturday.

Leadfoot1 12-16-2013 08:34 AM

Were are we at with this car....?

Just read the whole thread and i like it!

Im in about same situation as you with an ultra clean and 100 % numbers matching car that i cant come to tearing apart!!! Bolt on 's are a possibility as i could keep its value and easily turn it back if wanted.

Inspiring.

Lead.
