Hood pins?

Do you by chance have any pictures of your hood pin mounting on the core support? I'm looking to do a pair on mine, so I'm trying to collect information on the best location to mount them.

Thanx! (oh, and as everyone else says, great project! :) )

98ssnova 10-07-2010 01:10 PM

What happened to the hood I though the snorkles extended up to the nose?

That is not the hood they are using. I believe they are making molds of the hood you are referring to.

Will send some updated pics of that on Sunday. They just came in and we are mounting today. Thanks.

Will have updated pics with the modified hood on Sunday. Just getting it back from the fiberglass shop. Thanks for noticing!

The car was sprayed today. The striping will be laid and sprayed tomorrow and then cleared and wet sanded 4 times. The paint is black with a hint of fleck. I included a couple videos from the spray booth.

We sprayed the stripes and started the wet sanding and clearing. Final assembly starts on the main body today. The pictures do not do it justice but let me know what you think of the color. The body really pops with the hint of fleck in the paint. The pearl stripe will tie in the reverse stitching color on the interior fabric.

Looks Bad A**! I was diggin' it in bare metal, with paint it looks top notch...

tones2SS 10-13-2010 09:50 AM

Very nice!! Going to be a NASTY build for sure.

Rybar 10-13-2010 10:55 AM

I think it looks unreal. Very nice job on the complete build.

Josh69 10-13-2010 11:24 AM

Lookin' sharp, love the color combo!

If I saw that thing pull up to a closing, the first thing I would do is ask for a reduction in the closing costs...somebody is getting paid too much. LOL.

Viperlover 10-13-2010 11:34 AM

White pinstriping is perfect.

Procharmo 10-13-2010 02:48 PM

I'm loving the whole build. I hope it'll be a driver after it has done the show and magazine circuit....It's the hardest 2nd gen Firebird I've seen!!!Just the right amount of body mods, stance and a killer engine...

tcronkright 10-13-2010 05:12 PM

Thanks for the feedback. Under the gun for SEMA. Car gets picked up in 13 days. Wheels come in on Friday and I will have a ton of updates in the next few days. As for the closing costs, you get what you pay for!:)

tcronkright 10-19-2010 01:49 PM

The Forgiato wheels arrived today and they are unbelievable! Perfect color and fit. Plenty of rubber on the back of these. Rears are 345/25/ZR20 and Fronts are 275/30/ZR19 – Pirelli P-Zero tires.

The intercooler is complete and the plumbing is finished and headed out for power coating. Interior seats have been recovered and door panels are almost done. Wiring is near completion and they start on the fuel system and exhaust tomorrow. The car gets picked up for Vegas a week from tomorrow. All hands on deck!

Why are they still metal working on a painted car?

Either that is a slight "out of order" picture or time constraints are such that they had to get the car in to paint while working the intake solution and then complete things in a modified order to make SEMA...

That's my guess and I'm sticking to it!

tones2SS 10-20-2010 11:24 AM

Very nice indeed! Car is nasty as all heck.
Those wheels look like they are concave. Very nice.

The car had only the first coats of clear on all of the front end components. It still needed to be wet sanded and then clear coated again so we wrapped it up in 3M low tack welding paper and test fit the inner fenders and the core support to make sure the intercooler piping was going to work as planned. But we did complete the shell so the assembly and wiring could be finished due to the time constraints. Thanks for the concern though Greg. Are you gonna be at SEMA? If so I will look forward to chatting with you again this year.

GregWeld 10-21-2010 09:16 PM

Ah ha! I figured there was a plan... it's just that you don't normally see so much metal work to be finished up and the car in paint... but I totally get the time constraints etc and knew you had a plan.

Yeah buddy! I'll be at SEMA -- get in the Monday night and don't depart until the following Sunday. Gotta get the full monty deal! LOL

See ya there! Assume you'll be in the wheel/tire hall again??

ALLSPEED01 10-24-2010 02:33 PM

Always a plan...debatable whether it is a good one or not:D This car will be in the Forgiato wheels booth in the wheel and tire hall again. Maybe we'll get to the hot rod alley someday! For now you'll just have to walk a mile or two through the exhibits to see the bird. See you there.

We’ve been going non-stop on the final touches and assembly. We added numerous changes under the hood and the interior that should turn some heads in Vegas. Here’s a sneak peak – hood, center column and heat shield on the fuel cell. My next post will be from the SEMA floor. Hope to see some of you there!

Also, here’s the detail on how we attached the front valance to the core support.

The “Bird” has landed in Vegas and is in the Forgiato booth. I couldn’t resist sharing these pictures where were shot just before it was loaded on the truck Thursday. The car had not been detailed but it was still picture worthy. The guys at All Speed killed themselves the last 6 weeks of this build to complete their vision – especially the engine bay where they made numerous last minute changes/modifications. Nice work boys!

Thanks to everyone for the interest and input in this build and I hope you will be reading about this in some upcoming publications. I will be sharing photos and video of the SEMA show and the reaction to the car. A HD digital camera has been installed in the car so we can share some real-time footage of this beast going down the road.

Thanks again to all sponsors that made this happen.

Enjoy!

Ha Ha, let's do it.:unibrow:

tcronkright 11-02-2010 10:15 PM

We arrived at the SEMA show around noon and it was packed. Pirelli convinced Forgiato to put the Firebird in their booth outside of the South Hall just in front of the Optima Challenge car section just before you get to the Monster booth. It is standing tall and it is a great feeling to have this as part of the show. DUBS shot pictures for their magazine and threw some stickers on the glass. Fine by me.

Here are some pics of the car. I hope to meet more Lateral-g members out here.
