looking good. nice to see that thing in the sun
|
I said the same thing...tongue in cheek. Once it got out in the sun I realized just how much more work I have left on her - bodywork, interior clean up, wiring...
I started the wiring this afternoon, but my truck and the '06 GTO (both in the above pictures) sprung a "change my oil" indicator...so that is what I am doing now. I must say...it is FRIGGIN' cold out there today!!! :faint: :willy: :( |
Dave, The car looks good. Youve made alot of progress only a little more to go. Hope you hold on to it.
BTW, whats your dream car that just popped up? |
Dave just read through the whole thread youve come a long way in short time.Drive lines looking great,ls is right at home keep the pictures coming!
|
Thanks guys!
I probably will hold on to it because the Olds folks are a very fickle group of people. As for my dream car...a friend of mine at work gave me this guys number who has an all original, totally complete '70 Ram Air III Trans Am. I took a look at it a while ago and periodically I check in on him to see if he still has it. Well he finally named a price to me to get it and I almost crapped my pants. It needs a little work but the care is as complete as I have ever seen. Interior is mint condition, engine is complete - shaker included - and all original. I almost shed a tear when I saw it...LOL Best part about it...it is not up for sale publicly...he said I am the only one that can have a crack at it because he doesn't have to get rid of it! :wow: :woot: I figured I would jump on the opportunity before he changed his mind, but I am finding out that this car is a lot harder to get rid of than expected. So I will continue to work on the car, as I did today...if I don't sell it, I don't sell it. I really love this car.  Dave |
I did a bit of wiring last evening, but for some reason the pics didn't take, so I will post them tonight. Trying to get as clean an appearance as possible. Originally I was not going to put anything in the engine compartment but I believe that leaving the EZ-EFI and the MSD on separate sides of the engine compartment will give them the decent separation.
More pics to follow tonight...I am going to work some more on wiring and work on the camber as well. Can't believe I am actually starting to work on closing up some systems - ie completing them. More to come! |
Hey Guys,
Small update...got some of the missing things I needed for my turbo set-up so i am actually skipping NA completely and this engine is going back to being a turbo build....lol. That being said, the EZ EFI is up for sale in the parts section for a very fair price. Thanks! Dave |
Killer project Dave! I am diggin the turbo setup....... can't wait to see how that turns out!
Keep me in the loop! |
i too am diggin the sound of the turbo.
|
Ok guys...
Small update...more of a venting update. I wish people would know what they had before they put it up for sale. I was supposed to be purchasing some needed parts for my turbo build - wastegate, intercooler and a couple misc. things. I show up and literally everything the guy had was wrong (at least not what he advertised...WTF!!! ) Wastegate was too small, intercooler was the wrong core thickness...I mean this is measuring things for cryin' out loud! :faint: So basically I am on hold with selling the EZ EFI...and honestly will probably just keep it right now. I had a plan for the first phase of this car and I want to stick to it. I wavered a ton on my last build and wasted a ton of money. This go around I have a plan and have been really good with sticking to it as of now. BTW, I upgraded my Vaporworx tank to the CTS-V pump so I'll be able to bring on the BOOST baby...that is when I collect enough parts...haha. I think I am saving more for one of Tyler's (HPI) frames right now... Lot more to come this weekend! Sorry for the rant...sometimes good deals are just too good to be true. :_paranoid Thanks, Dave |
Very cool!
|
too bad about the turbo parts :( .
atleast things are still moving. |

I have been holding off on the full cage because I am going to eventually migrate to one of Tyler's chassis. To me, it makes no sense to spend the big $$$ for are nice cage, only to have to cut it out. :faint: Anyhow, there will be more picture updates this weekend! Thanks :lateral: Dave |
Been a while since an update....should have more for this coming week. Finally got a Corvette Accessory Drive form a company called Nook and Tranny...they are an Ebay vendor and were VERY helpful...pieced together the exact kit Pace Performance was offering (but NEVER delivered) at a competitive price.
Anyways, I have been doing a lot of wiring and will be doing some body work as well in the next few weeks. Hope to have her running within a month...trying to keep my credit cards in check...   I changed the valve covers to stock LS3 style ones so that I could clear the drive and I could paint them W30 bronze...gives it a stealthier look. Here's some shots of the accessory drive installed. http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9050.jpg http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9049.jpg I also recently acquired a 2.5" X pipe system from Magnaflow that should look and sound awesome. More pics to come shortly! Dave |
Looks good. It is hard to tell from the angle but does it look like the power steering line in going to fit? I had to run a smaller pulley on the vette acces. to clear.
|
that looks great. :unibrow:

Have fun and keep us posted. |
Received my PSI Conversion harness last night and the turbo is on its way to my house.
Swapped out the intake for the correct one and plan on drilling the pan for the return line (WHIEL IT IS STILL IN THE CAR) this week... Lots of pics to come! Dave |
I'll be watching, I love pictures.
|
As promised...here are the pics and some discriptions. I still need to take a few of the PSI Conversion harness but this will wet your whistle...
This is a shot with the new intake installed. I am not thrilled with the purple fuel rails but they will do for now. Currently has LS3 42lb injectors right now...that will also change since it won't be enough. Also shows the two manifolds I plan to use - one driver's side truck manny flipped and a driver's side Fbody manny. http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9073.jpg http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9077.jpg Next couple shots show the clearance on the truck manifold on the passenger side...its about a 1/4". I am thinking I will still pull the motor...again :faint: ...because I have to drill and tap the pan for the return fitting of the turbo. Driver's side F-body Manifold fits perfectly. I am still not 100% sure if I am going to bring the crossover under the pan between the sump and crossmember or back further under the bellhousing. Passenger Manifold (Truck) http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9086.jpg Driver's Manifold (F-body) http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9080.jpg Crossover Clearance between Sump and Crossmember http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9081.jpg http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9071.jpg Where I plan to put the return fitting for the turbo (I am thinking I may overfiill the pan with oil and let the positive pressure push the chips back out the pan...also work with the grease on the bit method.) This is just left of the balancer when viewed from the front. http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9083.jpg More to come...:lateral: |
Its lookin good! I like the intake elbow Do they list the flow numbers for it?

But honestly I'll lose a day or two if I properly yank the thing and drill the pan off the car...probably what I will do. I have been working ridiculous hours lately so I am pretty beat lately and haven't been making the progress I have been wanting. Oh well..that's life I guess! |
Something showed up today....give you a couple guesses what it was...
http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9089.jpg http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_9091.jpg More to come!!!   |
how exciting! :unibrow:
|
Sweet !
|
You got a new cat? ;)
Cool project! |

More updates to come today! I welded up the passenger manifold and added a flange to bolt the midpipe to. Harness has been laid in and ordered a TON of pipe! |
