HarLequiN 07-07-2006 06:09 AM

I don't think that I have ever seen a more detailed 3D-car. Never ever!! This is really some fabulous work you are doing there and I'm soooo envious!!!

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/337...te032cq.th.jpg

http://img414.imageshack.us/img414/2...te014zy.th.jpg

still need more work, like adding welds to parts, and more wiring, but the piping is done (i bet you i ahve missed some but hey :) )

and thanks for the comments

@ HarLequiN, thanks, do you make highish poly old cars for gta?

anyway thanks agian to scott for post those other picture
Tom

HarLequiN 07-08-2006 08:12 AM

My reputation runs along, daym... Yes, that HarLequiN is me. And now you know why I'm so envious!
You use Max, right? I'm just learning it at the moment and it needs alot of time to get into so I guess I'll stay with the gamecars for now.
Btw. do you model all those details just by looking at photos or do you have blueprints or even the real stuff as reference?

tomsullivan 07-08-2006 10:52 AM

thanks, and you should not be envious, i have seen your work its really good!

yep, i use max, have been for about 3 yrs now, if you have and question/problems i would be glad to help you, just ask :)

and i would say 99% of this model is done from pictures, i really only ruffed out the out line of the car from blueprints, and the rest was done with picture, altho i do like to work with number where i can.

another new render :)
http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/5...te013am.th.jpg
quite happy wiht this one, but a couple things still need fixing.

thanks

tomsullivan 07-21-2006 02:22 PM

How does someone go about hiring someone to "Render" his car, and what kind of money does it take to have one made?

itlbtu 08-11-2006 10:03 AM

I'm new to the board. I work with AutoCAD, and Solid Works. Are these files scaleable, or importable? I've wanted to draw my '69 Camaro and play around with different suspension ideas for a long time. Unfortunately I'm so far away from any kind of artistic talent. :hail: I can draw mechanical things all day long though... I someone would be willing to email me a file I would love to try and import it to Solid Works. Thanks,
:D

Musclerodz 08-16-2006 10:41 PM

I haven't viewed this thread in quite a while and DAMN!!! You must have an insane amount of hours invested in this. Truely incredible amount of detail.

Mike

tomsullivan 09-07-2006 06:18 AM

thanks Musclerodz.

@itlbtu, sorry for the delayed reply, i am not willing to give away my models. but would be happy to help you out.

asaenz 10-12-2006 04:33 AM

Hi Tom,
I just wanted to say that looks amazing.

If you haven't said yet, "How much time has this taken so far?"

Thanks

Al

Kris Horton 10-12-2006 10:57 AM

Tom's first post about it was in December of '05, so he's going on almost a year. His first posting on here was in December of '05, but I saw him working on it over on SMCars before that I believe.

tomsullivan 11-23-2006 10:39 PM

umm yeah a bit late but yeah, like Kris said since Dec last yr.

a load of renders for you.

first up some colour renders

customcam 12-07-2006 06:26 PM

Thats awsome TS gotta love it :hail:
hey im getting those pics soon also thanks man

deuce_454 12-11-2006 04:59 AM

where are the wastegates??

looks awesome... you could consider having the headers fabricated, now that the geometry is established i am betting you could sell a quite a few on this site alone.. but with regards to the headers... i hate to say this, but where are the wastegates??

tomsullivan 03-29-2007 04:25 AM

yes this is a never ending project, and with my time being eating away lately i have not had the time to work on this like i use to.

and since Scott changed to the LS engine, i decied that i would just finish up the SBC engine before moveing onto the LS more.

i think basicly the SBC is done, minus some cables like the fuel lines, trottle cable, i think its all there.

http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/1...te01qg3.th.jpg

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/405/update05ob5.th.jpg

tomsullivan 03-29-2007 04:28 AM

and the body, i dont know what i am going to do with it, since i dont ahve the time to spend the time need to finish it, i think it has to go on the back burner for a while.

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/665...r001hf1.th.jpg
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/1...r002mg1.th.jpg

sorry for the large render, but you can zoom in on all the details like the welds on the headers.

anyway i thougth i might just post here, mabye some ppl might be able to pick up some minor mechnical foults.
thanks
Tom

Flying Scotsman 03-29-2007 07:55 AM

Every time i see this I'm blown away with the detail!!!
Awesome job ! :hail:

Hdesign 03-29-2007 08:46 AM

incredible work! :wow:

SteveMcqueenRules 04-16-2007 02:39 PM

I can barely do corel crap in 2D this stuff just blows my mind. Amazing.

boling 04-21-2007 07:00 AM

If you have a web cam and a digital projector, you cab create mesh surfaces in 3d. www.reversemodeling.com The software is FlexSxan 3d. The Lite version is free.

It works. Same technology used to digitize designers' clay models for production molds.

tomsullivan 04-30-2007 11:28 PM

thanks for the comments.

boling, sounds really interesting, but even if i did have a projector and webcam i dont really have access to a Camaro nor the other parts of the car.

i jsut realalised i havent posted any render of the LS 7
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8...r001ft8.th.jpg
http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/947...r002iu9.th.jpg
http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/878...r003iq5.th.jpg
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/7...r004en8.th.jpg

cont next post

tomsullivan 04-30-2007 11:30 PM

and i have started to clean up the body, get it to a stage where i can start rendering it without haveing massive gaps in the body

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/1...r001wn8.th.jpg
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/5...r002dk2.th.jpg
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1...r003vl5.th.jpg
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4...r004em4.th.jpg

still need to do some more work, like the chrome detailing, and the new mirrors.

anyway thanks
Tom
