OK guy's, my head is spinning. I'm having a hard time with the idea of excepting cash from you guys. I think I should gracefully bow out.

Chris at JCG and Jon at Drvers Inc, I would be proud to represent you guys on my car if the tire offer is still good. My front fenders have room along with a possible windshield banner. Any size just as long as it looks good. I will be hitting all of the NASA Time Trial events next season which should give you guys some decent exposure. I will also work at winning my way into Optima for next year.

In addition, the guys at DreamSpeedMotors also feel that we would need more time to tune with the 200 tread wear tires.

Pappy Fain, Greg Weld, and 5280/4, you guys are solid and I cant tell you how much I appreciate the cash offer and I'm not to proud to except the offer but it just doesn't feel right.

mfain 10-13-2010 05:17 PM

Gaetano,

Don't look at the cash as a gift, it is an investment in the spirit of competition. I want to see how the various suspension systems compare on the road course. I don't expect you to do as well with the cones -- not your thing -- and the really big brake cars will perform well in the braking competition, but its the road course times I am really interested in. You are the old school "missing link" with a reputation for speed. It wouldn't be right for you not to be represented. Good luck with a selection.

Pappy

Yes having the Mule out there would be very cool. Kinda like when Big Red was there the first year.

I would love to see the Mule there, but it's not in the cards. I even talked to Charley about it. :D

Hopefully we'll have a clearer picture in the next day or two on who might be representing our community.

Lots of activity since I last looked before bed last night. Telly V.'s trailer offer makes the numbers work for me, I think. Must be my quiet and reserved nature that is keeping guys from throwing money at me.

Now to convince mama that a week in Vegas is a great idea while she stays home alone with our daughter.

Vegas69 10-13-2010 06:02 PM

I've tried to get in this deal every year and I finally made it. I can't believe nobody wants to seize this once in a lifetime opportunity. Your car gets to go to SEMA, Road Racing, Autocross, 0-60-0, and potentially on TV. You have the chance to be crowned the baddest street car in the USA. Can I run for both sites? :unibrow:

James OLC 10-13-2010 06:13 PM

Tri-Tip?

Give it to Jeff. He wants to go. He has the ability to go. He has an awesome car. And it's equipped with all sponsors products. Why not?

Gaetano, It's a once in a life time opp.I won the good guy's autox at kc last year and got an invite. Wasn't going to go, I thought I had no business there with all the big buck guy's until Kyle Tucker talked me in to going. It's the most fun you can have w/your pant's on. And probly w/o them also.Only wish I would have left a day early so I could have made the SEMA show.If you have the opp.to go,don't pass it up.You will reget it for ever.GO-GO-GO-GO. Scott Mock.

I kinda figured you did, Scott. I figured it was a long shot but it's still fun to talk about.

Do they allow convertibles?...LOL

What about you and your car? That would be so cool.

Mike..

GregWeld 10-13-2010 06:35 PM

Here's the deal guys ---- it's SCOTTS decision who goes and represents HIS website... so no matter how much we beg or coerce and jibe each other.... it's his choice.

I can think of about half a dozen people I'd personally love to see get the opportunity... But some people aren't prepared -- some might not have the time off work (boy am I glad I don't have THAT problem! ) -- some might not have the desire -- and some might not have the finances.

I wrote Scott -- that if he picks someone that does not have the finances -- My offer is good for that person as well i.e., my offer is not limited to Track Junky I threw it out there because HE said his wife was cutting him off (in more ways than one probably!). They don't have to make public announcement about it - or make a big deal out of it etc... I just personally would be happy to help someone - one of us out if he or she needs it in order to step up to this fabulous opportunity.

monza 10-13-2010 06:36 PM

Somebody should be all over this. It's a serious intense hot rod experience, great people, amazing event- Pro Touring overload! Then there is Sema, if you have never been it will blow you away. Even with mechanical failure I had a blast at the Optima. Contact Scott represent!! He'll pick a Bad Ass car for sure.

The chance to lay a smack down on Bad Penny, come on!!! ha ha

The WidowMaker 10-13-2010 06:37 PM

greg, you have all the tools in the world and the heart to go with them. thats an awesome opportunity for someone, and im glad to be part of a community with guys like you.

I think I'm starting to see your angle. Wouldn't that be like running as two separate entries, giving you more of an opportunity to win, no?

Seriously though, congrats on the invite Todd!

I'd like to see Gaetano run. I'm not sure how Optima would feel about it, but if the community can get him in, that would be great. As Scott said, it is probably a once in a lifetime experience, take advantage of it. Gaetano, you might not be able to get in again, and if you're more concerned about learning than winning the whole thing you shouldn't hesitate to go.

I've had so many socal people from the community offer to help get my car to sema, I feel like I need to pay if forward. I'd happily donate to the cause getting Gaetano, or anyone else there as well.

Matt

I might have an extra quart of oil to donate, .

Being a long time member on this site should account for something IMO.

I just happen to have that whole week blocked out for SEMA, the car has just gone through a complete suspension upgrade, and my tires are good-to-go!

Up until Carl, I haven't seen anybody commit. I just read the feature on your car. Very nice..

Carl would definitely be a great pick as well. He's a pro touring pioneer and has a well sorted car.

Thanks Todd. I just saw the pics of your car on PT.com and although I have seen it before, I can't remember seeing it with the black/brushed wheels. Looks bad ass. If all goes well, I'll be able to check it out in person in a few weeks.

Ron in SoCal 10-13-2010 08:55 PM

Although I'm cool w Scott making a choice, I suggest he take maybe the top three guys that throw their hat in the ring and put 'em up on a new thread/poll and give the members 24 hours to vote.

Between Carl, Van and Gae this is a 'can't miss' as one will get selected and our community will represent.

ProdigyCustoms 10-13-2010 08:57 PM

Sounds like we are pushing Gatenao into it. Sounds like Jeff is in for it? And Carl is made it clear he has time and money.

Now Scott has to flip a coin on that one. Both cars are run and run hard, both would have a grat chance of doing well. Glad my name is not Scott right now!

It's true AJ but I don't regret it at all.

Besides... We'll try to show what we are capable of this year... Albeit as an exhibition competitor.

Carl is good to go on all fronts and will surprise a lot of people if given the chance!

Track Junky 10-13-2010 10:16 PM

Ok guys, after hours of thought....the truth is I have been waiting for the opportunity to run up against the best of the best for a long time and your right, the opportunity may never come around again.

We all know how hard Finch, Tucker, Stielow, etc are going to run and I sure is hell ain't no slouch. You guys want to see a smack down, drag out, muscle car challenge and If I'm voted in I intend on givin' it my all...........I'm in!!!

spot on, spot on...;)
yeah both van and carls cars are kick ass! hell i even loved vans car with that big azz hood ! but i do think there needs to be some fair way of deciding who gets it and not by a vote. a coin sounds good to me just dont use a stinking penny!!!:D

btw- i dont think it was a popularity vote Van when it came to gaestano going it was just that whole idea of a stock style suspension car running with a experienced that know that specific car very well. i know that was my reasoning for want to see him attend and it seemed like others also.

All great options mentioned, but I'd love to see Gaetano run too. He will squeeze the very most out of that stockish car he has and that will be impressive no matter what.

Good luck to whomever gets it!

Bow Tie 67 10-14-2010 04:23 AM

I hope Cam and Jimmy see this:

Please let all three in...... please, please, pretty please.

All three want to represent and have expressed interest.

Gatenao : has commited with help!!

Jeff: Has a great car and experience and teaming up with Violetto will help both with cost.

Carl: What can I say, he is lateral-g / pro-touring

Two extra cars, there has to be space.......................( after all less spectators more space )

Maybe the Mule next year. I thought I was invited with Jackass since I didn't get to compete with it last year but when no clear answer came and I had already made arrangements to have Jackass at SEMA I went a different route. I'll be running Jackass on the adjacent track at Spring Mountain. I'll be there, just not competing. Getting lots of laps in though.

Hi all. New guy here. Bounced over from the other PT site after I heard Gaetano had a possible invite to Optima.

Where else will you see a 69 camaro running with stock lower arms and very little suspension mods whip Butt at such a big event. He proves it on the track and I would like to see him go all out at Optima.

I'm just a guy, with a little opinion, just had to get that out there.

I say Track Junky.

I can spare 25 bucks to whoever gets the invite and needs it.

Spiffav8 10-14-2010 09:56 AM

Count me in for a few bucks to whom ever represents LG.

Just a thought but maybe we could have t-shirts printed up for this and sell them to help raise money. I've got a credit with Tavis, the guy that did the LG design and would be willing to put it towards the cause.

Whatever it takes!
