Got a pretty good start on the roll bar install. Hopefully by the end of the weekend we can have it completely bolted in.

Got the Roll Bar bolted in except the the fenderwell plates. I will need the welder to help me do that. Everything is squared up and in place. The good news is that the front and middle legs tie to the subframe connectors.

Got the differential and axles back in today. GForce1320 remachined the bearing races and changed the stub bearings. Neater setup and cleaner.

nice stub shafts and axles. :wow:

Thanks, the T56 ought to be sweet too. Rockland Gears internals built by RPM. Face plated with dog cut gears and a new Monster triple disk clutch.

Test fitted the interior back into the car today, Took some trimming on some of the panels. Also laid out the Simpson belts and began the installation of the fire suppression system.

Hit a lick on the fire suppression system today. Got the underhood nozzles positioned and tightened down, the trunk nozzles and the passenger side. Next step is to get the bottle mounted and to finish the interior plumbing. Also need to paint the roll bar area as well.

Picked up a really cool Roll Bar mounting kit from Pegasus Racing. Fits the Firecharger fine. Also figured out this Firecharger System only supports a total of three nozzles with outlets for two lines. That means that I will have two nozzles in the Trunk/Fuel Cell zone and one nozzle in the cabin on me. Based on that I am going to install another pbttle to have two nozzles in the engine compartment with an additional one in the cab on me. I would like to figure out a cable pull system that would allow me to activate both bottles simultaneously. Anyone with ideas let me know.

As I am fixing the split seams on the front seat I also decided to begin the cleanup of the Roll Cage welding in the back. I am using brushed on Rustoleum Enamel this time, used enamel spray paint last time. First order of business was to clean up the welded areas, especially where the heat started rust. Had to wire brush off the old paint which was flaking. Took it down to bare metal as best as I could. I primerred it this afternoon and will paint it glossy black tomorrow.

Finished up the first part of the Fire Suppression. I have three zones; cabin, trunk/fuel cell, and engine compartment. Need to get another bottle to do The engine compartment and to put an extra nozzle in the cabin. Lines are run. At the end of this I will have two nozzles in the engine compartment, two in the cabin, and two in the trunk, Right now I have 2 in the trunk and 1 in the cabin. Finished up neater than I expected though replacing the paneling is going to be a fun time.

We are replacing the Steering Rack on the car and figured while we had it off might as well get the headers coated. These headers were 8 years old. I am pretty proud of the results.

Got the headers installed today, Didn't get time to put the steering rack in. Still have that to do. Have a guy going to redo my driver's seat Monday. All we need is some sign of life out of liberty and RPM.
Note the use of blood during the install, seemed to make things slide into place easier. http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...der-15-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...der-17-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...der-22-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...der-23-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...der-28-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...der-30-640.jpg |
Changed the valve covers out today. Went with some I had worked on earlier.

Dual boost?
|
How much HP should that inlet be worth? It looks to be a lot less restrictive, which can make big gains depending on how good or bad the original setup is.
|
We were debating that today. The fabricated (homemade intake has a curve rear that forced the airflow into the supercharger. This one has a lot of sharp angles. The homemade intake has approximately 35-40% more air volume than this one. Biggest gain I see here is in fitment and perhaps a lot better throttle cable arrangement. We should know in 2-3 weeks.

Just pulled the trigger on an FTI Stage 5 TH400 and all the supporting mods. Should be in next week and hopefully have the car running again within the next two weeks. Knew I should have done this in the first place and feel really good about the decision.

so not a lot of cross-country driving with this one? :D

The 6 speed came in today. I am a little sad I won't be using it but I am more and more stoked about the FTI build. Here it is. Greg already has parts en route to Texas.
RATED TO 2000 HP

subscribe  man this is one insane ride

This is the baddest T56 on the planet. Was my wildest dream and turned into a nightmare. Went out and saw the actual T56 today. the polished shaft looked incredible. Actually saw the build sheet on it.
Picture of the sheet didn't come out but it was essentially as follows: faceplated by Liberty and included Liberty Billet interlock Liberty Billet Interlock Bolt Liberty Billet shift plate set Gforce 2.71 ratio 9310 straight cut gear set micro polished internal parts by Performance Metal Bronze fork pads and shifter bushing RPM modified 1-2 shift fork. RPM managed the project and performed the teardown, prep, and shipping. http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t.../T56-2-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t.../T56-1-640.jpg |
At the opposite end of the scale FTI has immediately began delivering parts. I am really stoked about it.

Great thread love the progress and pics.........keep it up:thumbsup:

Thanks for commenting. I think the next two weeks are going to get really exciting.
Starting to clean up things we rushed before. Worked on the electrical connections we modified when we relocated the battery to the trunk today. Hard to tell by the photos but the steel plate was beginning to rust. Rather than powdercoat it I changed it to aluminum and smoothed all the sharp edges. Before http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ery-57-640.jpg After http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ery-85-640.jpg |
FTI built TH400 will be in Thursday. World Class response from a World Class Vendor.
|
Got the stuff from GForce1320 today. FTI is effective about bringing this all together at the same place at the same time.

Getting down to business now
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-12-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-14-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-15-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-16-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-17-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-21-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-27-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-26-640.jpg |
how much is left after this?
|
Cosmetics. Need to install the new CBM intake, interior, finish the hood, rewire some of the electronics like the wideband, finish the fire suppression system, work on better wheels and tires, and .....vrooom!
|
good show but maybe i missed it... why ditch God's own T56?
|
It was 15 weeks late in the delivery. About week 9 with no real response we frankly figured they were not going to be able to deliver so we began the process of changing over to the TH400. We literally only had a few days warning before the T56 showed up so we had already pulled the trigger on the TH400. You seriously cannot try to pursue a program with no indication of when and where things are going to show up. It would have taken longer to reorient back to the T56 than continue on. For instance the pedals were pulled out, the lines undone, the master cylinder removed, and the shifter boot hold cover cut up to accommodate the automatic floor plate.
I didn't mind being one of the first and never really expected any breaks or special treatment but I also didn't expect to be on the back burner. It was a great team of vendors that came together and given time to learn to work together they will have a positive impact. I have too much in the car to not have the same priority that everyone else hasa right to expect. We put the T56 on the shelf to use as a backup when we refresh the TH400. It was a first rate job but I lost a good deal of the season waiting on it. Maybe after they have sold a few more and can get consistent with the production (thus the ability to repair and support them) I might dust if off and try it. I don't see that happening this year. |
Took us 19 hours to get the speedometer gear off. Could have probably done it sooner but have never done that so was somewhat of a ***** about it. Finally got it off this afternoon. Has delayed the build a bit.
First thing we had to do was take the old style Speedometer Gear off the Output Shaft http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-34-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-36-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-41-640.jpg Took us 19 hours to get to this point, yea we are pussies but this is the first time we've done this. http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-46-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-44-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-45-640.jpg Then we had to heat up the 17 tooth reluctor that enables us to use the Speed Sensor http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-38-640.jpg Align the Reluctor to the middle of the hole, approximately the same location as the gear we removed. http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-51-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-54-640.jpg Bolt in the Speed Sensor and button up the tailshaft |
I had really hoped to spend next week finishing the small stuff and dyno tuning it. Then a couple of weeks getting the hood finished. The delay has pretty much put the whole fall drag racing season at risk. While I could run without a hood after all the effort I thought I would just wait until the car was done. I can't put the CBM intake on, can't finish the hood, can tune the car until I get the transmission in. Cannot even really finish putting the interior in.
We have gotten some stuff done. Replaced the rear main seal and bolted the flexplate in, removed the shifter boot and cut the console for the shifter to fit, plus put the hole cover plate in. http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-18-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-19-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-20-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-30-640.jpg |
well, at least there's some progress.
|
I hear ya. Sure is taking a lot of small steps. Waiting on another overnight.
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-56-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-58-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-59-640.jpg |
We had to change torque convertors so it has delayed us some. Got the new unit in today and I will attack it tomorrow. Also worked on a setup for the Fire Suppression System. The system I bought supports only two zones. I will buy another but was perplexed at how to put suppression in all three zones with a single pull release. Solution will be a roll bar mounted cable mount with both cable pulls side by side. I can rig a pull like an ejection seat or something where one tug pulls both cables. Here is the setup with only one pull mounted. Will probably end up putting that on the top bar.
http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-40-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...ion-41-640.jpg Also got some of my prototype Camera Mounts back from the Chroming process today. Will roll them out at GOATFEST. http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...unt-26-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...unt-24-640.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t...unt-23-640.jpg |
