RS Special 3.5" Exhaust
|
wow wicked ride guys. I love the exhaust hangers.
|
Great looking exhaust! What brand are those flex pieces?
|
They look like the flex pipes that SPD sells..... how much flex do they have vs the more "braided steel" ones?
SPD doesnt have a price on their website.... I think I may add some to mine in the same spot. Now that we have the exhaust all mocked up and not even fully welded, I need to use a little force to get the flanges at the headers to line up.... |
The flex couplers have the same amount of flex as the woven stainless version. On most of the woven stainless style, they still use this as an inner liner. We started using this style since they are a little cleaner looking than the woven stainless and easier to ceramic coat.

Why Flowmaster? Owner preference? You usually use Borla.

In the Booth

Are you shootin the car with the doors on? Just askin cause i always saw cars with the jambs done before the rest. Can you get good coverage of the hinges and that part of the jambs that way? I assume it makes for an easier remounting after and less chances of scratching.
Sorry, trying to get all tips i can in body land, new project is in and i really want to try my hand on this one. Thanks, Lead. |
Lead, the car is just getting primed here. We left the doors on for primer so we do not have to spend the time re-aligning them between body work and prep work. When the car is painted, every single piece is taken off the car and sprayed separately.
|
Very nice! What type of primer are you using?

Painted Firewall

Hey Phil what what kind of black paint are you using for the frame? and what kind of paint for the components? I'm out in the shop today (came home for the weekend) and was contemplating colors for the fast track 67 Mustang Front Clip I just got from you guys...
PS - pictures don't do it justice!!! Also, what kind of steering is that on the car? Rack and Pinion with a hydraulic assist or something? Keep up the good work! Tom 67 Pro Touring Fastback |

The chassis on this car (and several others) is actually powder coated in a satin black. The control arms and components are painted in a few different silvers and charcoals with matte clear. We try to do 1 or 2 colors so there is some contrast and you can make out each of the parts instead of a sea of one color where individual components tend to disappear. The rack on this chassis is a hydraulic power assist built by Woodward. |
Here are a few more pictures of the progress on the car over the past few days. I've been holding out on your pictures Mike! I'll send you copies of these as well for your files.
The monster 800 HP, 572 installed in the chassis with T-56 trans and custom stainless headers and exhaust. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219698.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219711.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219701.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219707.jpg |
Awesommmmmme! One more question, those control arms you built for my clip, will they work with coilovers too? My dad is really hesistant and trying to convince me on not using air suspension... What kind of coilovers do you guys use? What do they run for a set front and rear in double adjustable?
Thanks and keep the pics coming!! Tom |
Prepped and in the booth awaiting color.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219694.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219695.jpg And here is where we sit currently at 6:30 on Friday night.... laying down the base coat. A few rounds of color sanding and more base coat followed by 5-6 coats of clear. It's gonna be a long night! http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219775.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture219777.jpg |
Love the RS hangers!!
Oh yeah -- I spent that much time "studying".... :D |
That ride looks outstanding from any angle. What a sick ride! I love it! You guys do fantastic work. I can't wait to see the finished product. If I ever win the lottery, I will be knocking on your door to do a project for me.

Another nice RS build! You guys have a thing for 66 Chevelles as of late! :D Speaking of....what ever happened to the blue one you were building? I see it in the back ground in one of the pics. Haven't heard anything about it in awhile. That thing is just flat out killer from what I have seen!
