Can't wait to see it in person!

Roadster Shop 06-01-2011 07:58 PM

Tom, we are pretty excited to get it on the road as well. We are finishing up the exhaust and then have to tie up some loose ends on the assembly side....then the fun begins. Chris has a new set of Michelins sitting here that we are going to try to wear out for him!:unibrow:

I'll get some progress pics up tomorrow.

coolwelder62 06-02-2011 05:49 AM

Man! This chevelle is going to be smokin cool. Can't wait to see it in person. The chassis is a work of art.

Here are a few shots of the 3" exhaust. We have everything completed up to the rear end so far. We are now working on going through the IRS and then the tail pipes.

Killer looking exhaust work! Chassis isn't half bad either. :D

What brand of flex pieces are those after the header flanges?

War 06-02-2011 01:52 PM

Very nice job. That is very well packaged and thought out. The IRS looks killer under there.

Got to see the car out at testing today at Blackhawk Farms. Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating. You guys did an awesome job. The stance is unbelievable and it's sounds badass. Kudos to RS and I can't wait for my ride Chris.

Thanks Aaron! We were very happy with the way the car performed for having about 10 miles on it before the event. We did have a track day set up earlier in the week at Black Hawk Raceway to try dial it in, but a small electrical problem and over 4 hours of severe rain did not allow us to get more than 3 laps in. We did some initial "parking lot testing" the day before in an attempt to get a decent base line. Our first session out on the track revealed that we were a little off. We were able to dial it in more and more each session and continued to better our times. I was able to put down the 2nd fastest lap in the vendor category on my last session. Chris ended up in 8th or 9th in the Competitor class. This was his first time on a road course since this event last year, and only his 4th or 5th time ever. Pretty impressive especially considering he had only driven the car for the first time in the cruise the night before!

The autocross on Sunday was also a very good test for the car. We kept making minor adjustments between runs and getting faster and faster. In the end, Chris finished 4th in the competitor class and I finished 3rd in the vendor class.

Overall we were very impressed that the car was a top competitor fresh out of the box with minimal tuning or set up. Most cars that we were running against have been out for 2 or more years and had a lot of seat time. I am really looking forward to the results that will come from more seat time and set up time as we move forward with the car! This was a brand new rear suspension that had never been tested. It had never seen the road until a week ago. We ran with some of the best in the sport and finished extremely well. I could not be happier with our results and can't wait to see what we can do at the next event!

I only have a few pics of the car completed. Rob McGaffin took a bunch of great action shots this weekend that we should get shortly.

Here are a few the day before the event. The Greg and Ben from Afco came by to check out the shop and help set up the shocks on the car.

Looks great! Another Innovative design from the RS crew! Love the looks of the IRS chassis we have here for the GG giveaway car

66SuperSport 06-21-2011 05:41 AM

It was great having the car back on the road again last weekend. I can't believe it had been almost nine months since I had driven the Chevelle. A huge thank you to Phil, Jeremy, and Neal Gerber and all of the employees at the Roadster Shop. The car has already exceeded all of our expectations and I know with time and tuning it's only going to get better. I could not have imagined that the Chevelle would perform so well with almost no miles on it and a completely untested suspension. It is awesome!
I also need to thank the guys from AFCO/Dynatech that helped with the new headers and shock tuning before and during the MotorState event. It was amazing what a few adjustments did to settle the car and pick up time on the track. I also need to thank Wilwood for helping us with the new Superlight brake system.
Can't wait to drive it out to the GoodGuys event in DesMoines next week and rack up some miles. Hope to see some of you there at the autocross. Please stop by and jump in if the passenger seat is open.

eric1967 06-21-2011 05:19 PM

Chris the stance is killer. I can't wait to see it. We are trying to make it up for the Good-Guys at Joliet. My dad will be up at Des Moines, I am sure he will stop by & say hi. Good luck Eric
