P.S. your package is on its way

waynieZ 08-10-2011 08:25 AM

It looks great Tyler. Nice pick up on the motor.

Tyler,

Not sure how much it would cost to do a mod like below. I believe Hollywood Hot Rods modded some 427 SOHC valve covers for the 5.0 Coyote they put in the Raybestos giveaway car build.

It was Hollywood. I like how that turned out. I think something along those lines would be a great addition to the car overall.

Dont worry guys something is already in the works! ;) I will be going with a hilborn injection setup now instead of the kinsler/ Twins turbo setup previously posted due to funds and time. I am working with Andy Star of hilborn and Hollywood Hotrods on a 8 stack setup now. I will reveal more as stuff starts coming together!

Thanks! Got a really Killer deal on it! 89,000 miles and is the most cleanest 04 f150 i have seen! The interior looks like no one has ever sat in it and the outside is just as nice! It has a 2.5" level on the front other than that its stock for right now. I plan to put some wheels/tires on and a bed cover in spring

56pickup 08-15-2011 09:26 PM

Working on the rear tubs today. got the under coating off and made a nice clean edge to weld the new tub too.

I like those gauges.
You probably already posted, but what is your goal for a finish date?

Our goal is to have it done for sema 2012

Tyler,

Lot of understated style in those gauges, the white numbers on the black background is a big part of that IMO. Nice touch incorporating the Ford style 'V8' logo in them too.

Scott's hot rod shop mod motor motor mounts came the other day!

http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...wmo8/003-9.jpg

These mounts look killer!
http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...wmo8/005-9.jpg

Mocked up the 56 dash today to start measuring for the wilwood pedal assembly and see what kind of braces were going to need. Might have to change the firewall a little to get the motor farther back but we will know once we get the motor.

http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...wmo8/007-5.jpg

Welded the driver side tub in today

Well early happy b day!
You are just turning 16 right?

I have to say, I REALLY like that you are so involved with building cars. And with your dad and grandfather too. Most guys your age don't seem to have much intrest in these old cars. I hope my son takes as much interest as you do.
And you do really nice work too!

Yup Just turning 16! Ive been driving for a while as I'm sure you guys could have guessed! Shhh don't tell anyone! Lol
I have been around cars my whole life and have been in the shop since I can remember. I have gone from flashlight holder to can you run and get me that wrench to go cut this or grind that. I soak in all the knowledge that I can. Our car buddies even like to ask me things about certain products or cars or anything because they know that I am on the computer and always researching parts and on forums and such and I am really appreciative of that because they trust what I have to say.

As for any other young guys getting interested in cars more I have never been a video game guy or watching tv, working on cars is a much better past time or hobby to get into as you will have something to show when your done and be proud to say yeah I did that, while playing video games you'll have nothing to show!

70rs 08-24-2011 10:56 PM

Well said Tyler.

fleet 08-27-2011 02:20 AM

Now that's a fine early B-day present...congrats.

BTW Tyler, what made you choose a '55 to build?

Congrats on the motor score Tyler. Your project - getting that AME frame/tubs in there - is really shaping up...

Well, We knew that we wanted it to be a post car so that got rid of the crown vic and victoria ht. Grandpa and i both liked the look of the 55 grille and front end apperance so it was between what trim level we wanted. It really didnt matter which one we choose since it's not going to be anywhere near stock! My major goal for the car is to be clean and subtle so i fell in love with the customline! Here's why,

http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...ustomline6.jpg

We will be doing lots of subtle things such as 56 dash which is the most well known mod people have done to there 55, tuck the bumpers in, shave hood/trunk, ect

Thanks Ron! Mounting the chassis wasn't nearly as hard we thought it was going to be! The AME chassis saved TONS of time and the work is phenomonal! The rear tubs are actually trailer fenders that we cut up and massaged ;)

The Motor will require the firewall to be cut out a bit but we were going to smooth it up anyway

I can see why that helped you make a decision its a sweet looking ride.
