No, it's a real PT-R :unibrow:

Actually it's an L-65. Came with all the option's as the LM-1 but is the later version that Chevrolet quoted had 5 less HP. ;)

Gaetano, Nice way to start a new year with some wicked looking wheels! Those wheels look freakin' bad combined with the new stance and you have completely changed the attitude of your Camaro. I like how you went with 17's.

Track Junky 01-02-2012 07:40 AM

Thanks Corey, I appreciate the compliment.

Gaetano, I somehow missed this post of yours and I have to say well done and sticking to your guns the wheels and stance are nailed buddy!! It definately has the track themed look to it that you were going for so just wanted to say congrats on the choice it looks killer!!

Track Junky 01-30-2012 04:57 PM

Thank you Rybar. Two weeks into the order I called my vendor and made the change. Polished lip would have looked geat for a street car but I'm heading toward a little more sinister look.
Have a few other ideas that I want to get to for a front grill block off and air intake for the radiator through the valance along with a splitter and some side skirts but thats all taking a back seat and will have to wait since I just had to replace the motor in my truck.

Thanks again bro

Bump for updates!

DFRESH 04-14-2012 08:40 AM

Wow--great job on the stance bro----that looks killer! I'll sacrafice some performance for stance anyday of the week---doesn't sound like you've had to do that and it still sits wicked. Very nice!

So moving forward and trying to do so on a budget it was time to fill in the rear wells with some wider tires. Trying to be fast, weight in wheels is a big help. I researched wheels for a long time and come to find out 2002 Z06 wheels are 19 lbs up front and 21 in the rear. I think to myself,"Hey no brainer, pick up some used Z06 wheels and I'll save at least $2000. So I pick up some Z06 wheels for $600 bucks. I kinda liked the way they looked but the problem is that you need spacers to make them work with a stock subframe and rear. I tried them out but they did not work. Handling completely changed and the front of the car pushed like it was on ice.

Thanks for asking Jerry.

The biggest update is that Vince has left Dreamspeed and opened up his own shop.
The name of the new shop is Mean Streets Performance. We are currently working on a logo to paste on my quarter panel. ;)

Thanks D!! Believe it or not these horse and buggy front suspensions and subframes like to run low and if you figure out the correct alignment specs aren't half bad. Emphasis on half.

Here's a couple picks of us adjusting bump steer with a bump steer gauge before the Thunderhill event. We got the bump steer down to .035 in 2" of compression.

Who poured the garage floor? It looks nice

Track Junky 04-14-2012 08:36 PM

Not sure who Vince got to do the floors but it probably looks great because they just got a new epoxy coat.
Shop is definitley coming along. I helped him pick up a second lift last week and he will have a third soon all from the same guy from another shop.

I'd REALLY enjoy it. Finding the time for a road trip right now with kids and business is the challenge.

One way travel:
Buttonwillow
723 mi, 11 hours 47 mins In current traffic: 11 hours 47 mins I-5 S

Thunder Hill
391 mi, 6 hours 30 mins In current traffic: 6 hours 30 mins I-5 S

Buttonwillow is bit of a hike even considering the amount of celebrities present to rub elbows with, T-Hill is obtainable if the stars align properly.

Thunderhill - April 28th and 29th

Any chance you can make this NorCal Shelby track event and show the Mustang guys how to get around Thunderhill? This is a great event, called the Spring Sprint and is open to all interested in a fun, safe track event.

Track Junky 04-16-2012 11:52 AM

Thank you for the invite Mr. Maurer, I've heard great things about your events. I really wanted to go when I heard Greg Weld and Charlie Lillard had signed up but with the economy the way it is I have had to create a car budget account and unfortunately this event would put me over.
I certainly intend on running with you guy's sometime in the future and once again, thank you.

Jack Maurer 04-16-2012 01:16 PM

Maybe next time

There is a Track Masters event May 10th and 11th at Infineon that has more friendly pricing; would luv to see your Camaro on track; I have enjoyed see all the pics of your car. Soon I will be introducing a 69 Camaro project (Darkside) that was just recently completed; project was inspired by Charlie Lilard, Stielow and your ride. Takecare and see you soon, Jack.

The Track Masters group are very impressive. I've had some great fun with those guys. Last time I ran with Track Masters a gentleman by the name of Frank took me around T-Hill in his little black Porsche. You may know him as he is a regular with them. Talk about a ride!!
Stielow has inspired many. I would have a much larger bank account if it wasn't for him, lol.
If things pick up I will certainly consider Infineon with you. it is my favorite road course. Looking forward to seeing your build.
Cheers

Jack, aren't you the previous owner/builder of Greg Weld's Mustang?

I am planning on being up at T-Hill for the Shelby event (without my car). Looking forward to seeing some Non-Camaros for once.

Was trying to keep it on the down low but my rear lexan glass showed up today and I drilled the holes for the spoiler on my aluminum deck lid. Goes in for paint next Tuesday. I'll add some more pics after I install them.
