I have not been around for quite a few months, I have a ton of updates but only a few pics. Sorry! The 3 I have are the package tray speaker mounts, door speaker mounts, and the tweeter mounts in the dash. I recessed them so that the speaker grills I am building will be flush mounted with the interior. Since I posted last, all of the fuel/brake lines are finished and mounted securely, finished the center console, and working on the air intake/filter mount right now. The car will be ready for body work around Jan. 1. Then the fun begins.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps824f855a.jpg You get a peek at the center console in the last 2 pics. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psf1657b10.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps9e21a77d.jpg |

Since I posted about 6 or 7 weeks ago, there were a few things that had to be changed. I guess that's how a project goes. Since I lowered the Chassisworks clip 2.5", I thought I had everything fit and finished! But I was wrong. I ended up having to fab new down bars from the firewall to the clip, completely redo the inner fenders, and redo all of the front brake lines and tabs. The reason for all of this was for tire size and proper clearance so the tires can turn either direction while the shock is compressed or extended. I thought I had this figured out a year ago but I obviously had not. I will post pics of the new inner fenders and down bars in a day or 2 along with the brake lines and a few other updates.
First time the car has been on the ground in over 2 years! Here is the car at ride height. The rocker height is 4 3/4" at the front and 5" at the rear. I still have some adjustability left. Don't mind the tires and wheels! And I'm not the greatest photographer either. Haha http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps50fe6f0a.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psfa406bca.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pse0195761.jpg |
Awesome! I don't think you should paint it. Leave it just like that, hoodless and all!

Diggin' the exhaust!

Killer! Slap a windshield in it and a driving seat and :burnout:

Heck yeh
absolutely what the other guys said Don't paint it, liking the stance nailed it:thumbsup: subscribed to this one

Nice stance. It's looking good.

Brake lines/fuel supply and return/clutch line: still a little tweaking and straightening on them before I am satisfied but they are close. In a couple of them you can see the billet fuel/brake line clamps. They turned out nice.

I bought the headers but put a 4 into 1 merge collectors and v-band clamps on them. Also moved the O2 sensor. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps28c343bc.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps062e511e.jpg |
That is some incredible work there.
Looking forward to see it finished. |
Coming along very nicely.

With all that FLAT sheet metal -- I'd have it blasted with walnut shells.... otherwise you risk warping. Sorry -- But I couldn't stand letting really nice work like that get so rusted up. It doesn't have to get like that. |

It has been exactly 2 years since I have posted any updates. But I worked on the car off and on during that period.
The car is at the paint shop. I plan on having it back in 2-3 months for final assembly. Here is just a peek of what has been done. Not many photos of the fab work though. Tucked the front and rear bumpers. Here is the rear. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...shwilqmyn.jpeg Stretched and moved the wheel openings so the 27" tires fit and look like they belong instead of them being stuffed into an opening made for a small tire. This picture would not upload for some reason to photobucket. Blasted the entire car inside and out. Stripped everything to bare metal. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psq945nua7.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psinedfclc.jpg Then it was primed and assembled just enough to roll it on the trailer to get it to the paint shop to be dissassembled again. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps9cpdannt.jpg I will have more pics of the bodywork soon I hope. |
Very cool, bumps look so nice tucked in. What color paint are you going with?
|
I have it narrowed down to 3 similar colors. All 3 are a steel blue metallic with a hint of green (more blue). All late model colors. One is a late model GTO color, other is around 07 GM, and other I have seen on a Chrysler 300. I know I will be powder coating the window trim satin black or a dark grey. I cannot decide if I am going to rechrome the bumpers and headlight bezels or make them the same as the window trim.
|
I know the gto color and absolutely love that shade!
|
Looking great! I'm glad to see the project still moving along. Here's hoping it continues smoothly for you.
|
Glad to hear this one is still moving forward!
|
Here are some small updates. More to come soon.
The bumpers are flushed and the bolt holes are shaved. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...seovdv9sr.jpeg All of the gaps on the sheetmetal are the same width. CFrom the hood, trunk, doors, and fenders have been welded to make them all identical. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...sfxooovwy.jpeg The car is still ugly in the green primer but it's all straight! It's been pushed and pulled on enough and now it's time for sanding and priming. |
Beautiful job! I like that green primer lol I like the shot of it from the front with the fenders on it.

The bodywork took much longer than expected. We hit a few bumps but now it's back on track.
This is the front bumper tucked. The front was 10 times more work than the rear! But well worth the effort. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psjbxixxjz.jpg Here a few of the body. This is about as straight as it's going to get. Its almost ready for paint. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psgzwu2gkm.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps2nnd3hny.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psh52xnv80.jpg The car is on the rotisserie right now getting everything seam-sealed, then the bottom and inside will be painted followed by the exterior. |
Since the car almost has color on it, I will show the rendering. Kris Horton (Cars by Kris) did an awesome job with this. He turned my ideas into reality with his creative artwork. I highly recommend him!

Nice! I love the rendering.

Here is just a little teaser of the paint. The color turned out perfect. It looks different inside and outside according to the lighting. This was right after the clear was sprayed.

Congrats!

Congrats, looks great!

All of the wiring is being cleaned up and finished right now.
A peak of the engine. This pic is a week or so old. I changed the fuel rails and a couple of more minor details. Even though the exhaust is stainless, I had it coated for cooling and cleaning purposes. It is almost time to fire the engine for the first time. |
Outstanding work going into this project. So many nice details!

Measured the backspacing for the front and rear wheels. Got them ordered and on the way. Getting closer everyday.
Front Rear- The stretched rear quarters really helped the large diameter tires look like they belong. Progress is looking good. Keep at it!

It looks good, who's valve covers are those?

Killer build thanks for sharing. Gained some ideas for my current build

Great looking build! Nice color choice.

Reworked the stock dipstick that sticks up way too far. I feel this looks better being a few inches lower.
The A/C bulkhead that came with the Concept One system was really nice, but it just wouldn't fit in the tight engine compartment and the A/C lines would never look right. So after searching I found this bulkhead and shortened the lines and welded the fittings back on. Then had it coated Hope to have a few more updates soon. |
The bulk head came out great.
