Thanks for the updates. It is probably my favorite car on Lat-g.

This build is exactly what I'd love to do to my 31k mile '64 Riviera.

Excellent work.

Thanks guys!

So what's new with the Riv?

EBMC 07-15-2013 10:38 AM

Weve been busy wiring, plumbing revamping the factory radiator to work with the LS (you wouldnt believe the hours to find factory preformed style rubber hoses for the radiator!) and installing hidden stereo (to be controlled through I phone) been also working with Classic Instruments on custom factory style AC face plates for Vintage Air and stock appearing console shift plate, waiting on some chrome also. I always say the last 20 percent seems to be 80 percent of the work - its all in the details although most wont even notice.
It is running though and we hope to debut at Goodguys West Coast Nationals Pleasanton next month. Ill get some decent pics in a couple days. Now its back to work to :gitrdun:

Vince@Meanstreets 07-15-2013 11:17 AM

Cant wait to see it. I'm sure it'll take hours just to see all the details.

Radlark 07-15-2013 02:56 PM

Ok ...I know it's way back in the beginning but how hard was it to graft on the RS IFS clip? And secondly what type of rear end is in the vehicle? Did you guys retain the 2 piece driveshaft or did that also get modified?

There are different perceptions of quality for people and although it may be fairly straightforward to get it welded in, grafting it in properly, perfectly square, so one cannot tell it was even done, depends on skillset of the person performing the job, the tools and equipment available and experience. This type of work is what we do on a daily basis, so it was just going through the paces trying to do our best. I will say the RS piece is a very nice product though. The rear end is a 9" ford built in house with a Strange center section and 3.89 gears. The 2 piece driveshaft was retained with different U joints, yolk and length. :thankyou:

Steve,

As with the Nailhead look given to the valve covers, was there that same discussion as far as making a new radiator look 1965 Riv before deciding on keeping the stock piece?

We pretty much knew we were going to retain the original tanks and just change the core, add steam line bung and neck sizing. We converted to a 3 row dimpled tubes and reinforcement ribs on sides which should be more than sufficient.

Meanwhile a few pics!

Spent quite a bit of time at the local parts houses trying to find the proper contour hoses to work!

Were still finishing routing of wires, harnesses hoses ect.

trying to route things more "exposed" than we usually do to retain a factory appearance

Stereo system is hidden as well and will be controlled through an app on an Iphone.

Classic Instruments made a one off shift indicator and not pictured, but super cool heater Ac control panels

Very cool Steve all those touches to hide a lot of the new-tech you and your crew have added.

Steve

The faux Buick engine treatment is over the top Killer:king:

I love the stock shifter adaption.

Beautiful sleeper right there.

Matt@BOS 07-18-2013 06:18 PM

Kudos to you guys for being able to crank out such diverse build styles!

Matt

Code510 07-19-2013 09:57 AM

Just went through this entire build. Very impressive! This will be a great sleeper. I started on the last page and worked my way forward. At first I didn't even pick up that was an LS engine! Very sneaky, very slick.

waynieZ 07-19-2013 02:06 PM

It looks awesome, I love the way the engine looks.

lwdwn1 07-29-2013 07:54 PM

what kind of headlights are those?

lwdwn1 07-29-2013 07:58 PM

what iphone app are you using to control the radio

EBMC 07-30-2013 07:24 AM

Thanks guys, the time and effort that went into a lot of the mods on this car will probably go unoticed by the majority, but I guess thats the goal!

My Stereo guy finished yesterday and it is actually just controlled through Bluetooth. Sounds killer btw!

First off this car is just incredible and I am adding this to my favorite car list. Stepping back the car looks like a simple build but it's not you just made it look that way. The detail you went to in the engine compartment is going to be a show stopper. Most people won't even realize that it's not a nailhead and to me that is what makes this car.

A trick I learned a long time ago (yes I am that old) is to buy that ugly flexible radiator hose and bend it to the shape you need. Then gently pull it out and then fill it with spray foam so it will harden and they you can take it to the auto parts store so you have something to compare the hoses to.

Awesome work! Headlights look great.

gnx7 08-09-2013 01:13 PM

beautiful ride and incredible fab work!

My uncle owned a '63 Riviera.... it was eventually parked in his top field for 35 years and rusted to pieces. Only when he passed away did it finally get scrapped.

EBMC 08-17-2013 07:03 AM

We have the car mostly together, having a couple of tuning issues with the trans so still have not driven but hope to have that figured out today. meanwhile.....

Classic Instruments made these one off bezels for our gen 4 Vintage air controls.

The interior lines are just as elegent as the outside IMO. (BTW thanks to Tim McCains dad for helping us out on the wood inserts!)

Outstanding!!

EBMC 08-26-2013 09:18 AM

Thanks everyone! Im just grateful the customer let us put our twist on it. Bob and his wife were at Goodguys this weekend and are extremely anxious to take delivery. We put 300 miles on it driving back and forth to Pleasanton all weekend and besides a pesky tuning issue just off idle we need to sort out, it is a pleasure to drive. It handles much better than you would visualize a car of this size doing and if the owner gives the Ok, I'll run it in the autocross at the fall get together!
meanwhile a pic from the weekend.......

dang, i completely missed it at the show this weekend. looks great!

i did get a chance to see Tenacity though. what an outstanding car. well done guys.

GrabberGT 08-26-2013 09:43 AM

Crazy what you guys have put into this. Its soo understated that most wouldnt slow down to really appreciate it. I know I wouldnt. Just a nod in passing to a beautifully preserved/restored classic. This just might be one of those cases where you can be too good at what you do. I've enjoyed the build. Great Job!

GregWeld 08-26-2013 12:09 PM

Just stellar Steve! Stellar!

wiedemab 08-26-2013 12:14 PM

One of my favorite cars style-wise. This is a classic example of work so good that many people won't even realize what's been done.

Awesome work!

Really nice build. I was there Friday and didn't see it, BUT I did see Tenacity, which was AMAZING!!!!!! No one was around to talk to though.

EBMC 08-26-2013 06:14 PM

Thanks guys  I did notice alot of people just walk on by or give it a quick checkout and move on, not knowing the details. I was almost disappointed then it dawned on me, Hey, that was our goal!
The people that we did show the mods that were performed seemed to really appreciate it though. I had fun breaking the news to Gary Meadors and Sam Foose!

Flash68 08-26-2013 08:19 PM

Beautiful work, Steve. Sorry I missed it this weekend.

BPDRacing 08-27-2013 09:03 AM

Hey Steve,

You guys did an amazing job on the Riv. The amount of time and attention you put into the LS3 engine really shows. I can’t wait to see the car in person, and maybe get a chance to ride around on the autocross
Thanks again for working with me, and for choosing the Roadster Shop Fast Track.

Bryan

Al Moreno 08-29-2013 03:16 PM

WOW Steve! That has CLASS written all over it. Love it. It will never go out of style.

tyoneal 09-02-2013 09:35 AM

That is just awesome.

Have you added this car to the members area yet?

It really NEEDS to be there with lots of pictures.
