Well after seeing this build I got the itch for a nice 66-67 Chevelle. I didnt want to go through all the paint and body since I have my shop full at the moment, so I bought a super nice 66 Convertible. Now for the LS swap and some suspension upgrades... Scott your car looks awesome, Ryan told me he talked to you about the Whipple setup.

Here is a pic of mine before I start tearing it apart. HAHA

WSSix 09-19-2012 06:53 PM

Holy begeezzus do you have a press brake that can bend those arms or did you actually farm out a part to be worked on?

The accusump mount looks good. Where will it be mounted?

I desided to go with splined bar on the rear of the car also.http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...psae2674a1.jpghttp://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...ps328b37d7.jpghttp://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...ps561cda9d.jpgI also upgraded the frt. sway bar end link's from 1/2" to larger 5/8" rod end's and changed out the cone spacer's w/some misalinement bushing's.http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4f7c4301.jpghttp://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...ps665a0bc5.jpg

coolwelder62 09-22-2012 07:35 PM

I had some one ask me why is everything just tack welded. As I'm building I like to fit everything.Plus I alway's change my mind or get a new Idea. This way it is easy to go back and move thing's around. When I disasssem. it I will take it over to the bench and tig weld everything.

eric1967 09-23-2012 05:44 AM

The bars look great Scott. There should be a lot of adjustment that will come in handy on those tight Good Guys autocross tracks. Thanks for posting Eric

radrambler 09-23-2012 09:02 AM

Yea,I built the rear bar so I soften or stiffen very qickly. And the frt is as easy as loosening 2-3/8" bolt's and it will slide right out,and pop in a new bar.

When I have odd shaped pieces like this with lots of sharp edges etc --- I run 'em thru the bead blaster... with the right grit - it will take out scratches and dulls the sharps right off there!
Then the part is ready for some etching primer... :woot:

Greg,I was going to DA them first then glass bead them.I built this part over lunch the other day.I told Dan Holohan I would do something real quick to show his tru-oval punch's.Hoping to get some time over the next few month's to finish up and prep everything before it go's off to paint and powder coat.

OK, I gotta know how the sway bar in the rear adjusts? I know by moving the end link but does it get tighter by having the end link back closer to the bar and looser as it moves away? The reason it works this way is because the bar can't twist as much with the end link closer in? Am I close?

The longer the side arm the more leverage it has to twist the sway bar(That makes for a softer bar) .The shorter the arm the less leverage it has.(That makes for stiffer bar). The more ajustable the car is the easier it is to sort out.Soft rear bar tight car.Stiff rear bar loose car.So you are right.

Cool. Thanks Scott.

coolwelder62 09-30-2012 12:33 PM

Well,I couldn't sleep last night so went to the shop I fabbed up a Trailer Hitch for the chevelle. The hitch will come off w/just 6 bolt's.Or I can remove the ball-mount W/a 1/2" pit-pin.http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...5/hitch004.jpg http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...5/hitch002.jpg http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...5/hitch003.jpghttp://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...5/hitch008.jpghttp://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...5/hitch007.jpgNow I am sleepy time for a nap.

tazzz2_ca 09-30-2012 04:32 PM

Cris@JCG 09-30-2012 05:16 PM

I know what you mean.. everytime I have to adjust the bar on Blu.. I need to drive it on my race ramps with two 5/8 wrenches.. it is a pain..
