A picture of my seats that I just picked up from a really nice guy over in the PT classifieds. They came out of a Cobalt SS, and are in excellent condish.

Sorry about the fuzzy ipad pics.

Looks great, Scott! Congrats on getting the body back on. Are the Cobalt SS seats Recaros? I thought they were. They look good in there regardless.

HEEP 08-18-2013 03:59 PM

Scott, as always, this thing is looking awesome. I am sure the body and chassis is having fun getting to know each other again. It is fun getting them back together.
I just read through again, and see that you used the Holley pan. Would it be possible to get a picture of the how close the linkage gets to the pan when turning to the left?

thanks,
HEEP

Trey, I'm not sure exactly who makes these seats. They do not say Recaro on them anywhere, but they look great, and fit me perfect. Thanks for the compliments. Oh yeah, saw a Bugatti Veyron at AMP, and thought of you. You'd LOVE this place!

Heep, when turning to the left, my linkage misses by a hair. What I did was reverse the tie rod ends. I put the inners on the outside, and the outers on the inside. I did this because of the zerk fittings. The inner zerks aim toward the pan, and the outer zerks aim upward. It's the zerk fittings that hit the pan, and a lot of people fill them full of grease, and then cap them off. By reversing them, I can still grease my tie rods, but it requires turning the wheel a little bit.
I will try to get a pic for you and post it up.

Marcus, aren't we supposed to show this stuff off? I'm hanging my front end on the car now, to gap and align before paint, so more pics soon!
Thanks for the props, my man.

Thanks Scott! I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. Didn't touch the car last winter, so lots goin on this summer, even with record rainfall here in georgia.

Thanks, Scott. I'm still hunting for seats so I'm always on the look out for something that looks like it will work and those do.

I'd love to see AMP. I'd also like to drive it one day too. It was in the development/legal battles stage when I left. I'm still trying to work my way back.

Hey Scott.. The seats look perfect. The Cobalt SS has 2 versions of seats, these are the sport version that offer a little more room while giving good support. The Recaro versions are not all leather and have more agressive bolstering. I think these are more comfortable. Anyway, I'm glad they found a good home. Good Luck. Car looks great. David.

David thanks again for the seats! They do fit really well in the car and are comfortable. Mounts are in and done. Check another step off the list. Funny story though...fuel pump starting acting up in my truck just outside of Tuscaloosa. She finally quit on me in Marietta. Didn't get home til well after dark, via rollback. Oh well, still had a great road trip.

Nice Job Scott, so are you painting it yourself or are you having it painted?

Thanks Rick, I appreciate that. I will be painting the "small" items, such as core support, inner fenders, hood hinges, etc. I don't have the correct paint gun to spray the body, and it turn out nice. My gun is a cheapo, and as you full well know, I have a fortune in paint materials, that I'd hate to waste on a bad job.
I have a great painter, but he stays so booked up.

Hey Scott, can you do me a favor? I looking at a set of the same seats as yours, can you give me the over all height of the seats? I'm wondering if they fit in my Camaro? Thanks

Rick I measured them tonight, and they are right at 40", sitting in the car, measured up the rear of the seat, at the same angle as the seat, or the tape measure running parallel to the back of the seat. Geesh I hope that makes sense. Yell at me if it doesn't.
You've got a real nice build going, by the way!

Rick D 08-30-2013 05:43 AM

Thanks Scott!! I just found out the ones I'm looking at are the Recaro model, I wonder if they are the same?? I'm waiting to hear back on what the dimensions they are.

Che70velle 09-15-2013 07:57 PM

I've got the car assembled for gaping, and pre paint fitment. This is pretty close to ride height. Rear will come down a tad more.

I'm awaiting some parts to finish my steering column, and new shaft fit.
In the meanwhile, I'm starting on my wiring harness. More later...

Thanks trey. I was able to make the rear go down 3/4" and its exactly what I'm looking for. I'm thinking that after glass, fuel in tank, battery in trunk, etc, it will be where I want it.

Never before, have I read such a true statement on this forum. It feels really good to see the car built, but then I have to blow the whole car back apart for paint...so get to experience this feeling twice! Yea for me!

It is looking killer!! You are hauling azz on the build for sure

Che70velle 09-25-2013 12:39 PM

Thanks Chris! It sure doesn't feel like it's moving very fast...will be two years this November since I purchased the car. Got really moving in December. Mine will be a pile, compared to yours.
