I'm asking 5800.00 and it's located in Pasco, Washington. PM me if anyone wants more info or pics. I was going lower it, wheels and tires and swap a 5.3 in and it but have too many cars going right now.

Thanks, Cal.

Nice looking truck.

Try our classifieds so a whole bunch more people will see it.

Wow Cal, nice work you are doing!! I love seeing another 2nd gen coming together.

Thanks and I should try the classifieds but then it might sell. It such a nice truck that's never been altered, I don't think I will find another like it. On the other hand, I don't want to be one of those guys that lets it sit so long I create major problems.

Thanks, Cal.

Thanks. It sure seems slow going but I'm finally seeing progress. Frame connectors, front half of cage and I'm a lot of the major fab is done.

Thanks, Cal.

Finally on wheels.

The frame connectors turned out pretty good.

The tie in from the connector to the front stub also turned out slick. Lined up fairly good just from the dimensions DSE provides.

I also was excited to stuff in some of the shiny stuff. A little show metal always makes things look more complete than they really are.

Mac&Otto 02-22-2014 07:17 PM

I know these pics are pretty basic, but it's excitingly see things finally fitting up. I'm headed to Palm Springs and Scottsdale for the next three weeks and then the Portland Swap meet to unload left over parts from all our projects. I won't get back to the shop until the first weekend in April, kind of sucks, I'm pumped to get the cage finished. Oh we'll, it will give me time to get motor and wheels here.

Thanks, Cal.

Nice, I like the direction.

Wow,looks like it coming along great! Even the basics as you call them are way beyond what Im looking at on mine, and its still great to look at the photos! What trans is that youre gonna put in? Great build! Im just in awe. LOL!

Matt@BOS 02-25-2014 08:49 PM

I think we all get excited when our projects start to look like something, and that usually means that we start trying to get them done sooner. So, we're going to see more frequent updated in April, right? :unibrow:

GregWeld 02-25-2014 09:43 PM

Looks great Cal -- just read thru the whole thread. Gotta give a hand to the NorthWET!

Really nice work!

Thank you. I'm running a M-22W built by AutoGear. As an auto cross car I decided to sell my TKO-600 not needing the extra gear. I save a considerable amount of weight and was able to specify the gear's I wanted.

Thanks, Cal.

Yes sir. I'm hoping April is a productive month for the camaro. Paul will be home at the end of April and we will start on his Nomad too. It's good when he's around because he's good at getting things prepped and ready for our work weekends. By the way, your car is looking pretty good and that bumper is really cool.

Thanks, Cal.

Thank you. Wet is right, but the worst is the wind that follows. I'm headed south Monday to get some sun and my hot rod fix. Around here in the winter is pretty hard on the car guys.

Thanks, Cal.

Cal,

The car looks great. However try being a car guy in Chicago. Between the Ice, the snow, the pot holes, the salt and the below zero temperatures it really sucks and don't get me started about Mountain bike here in the winter. I had to buy a fat tire bike so I could ride in all of the snow we have here. Did i mention the 3.8" wide studded tires for bike cost over $200.00 each.

Thanks. Maybe I shouldn't complain after hearing those details. One thing I would do different on those 200.00 mountain bike tires, they would be connected to a motorcycle. You mountain bike guys are extreme, I like gasoline powered toys. I'm sure those bikes are cool.

Thanks, Cal.

Umm, they invented this thing back in the cave man days called "moving"....hehehe

I feel Marty's pain, literally. My garage is nothing more than an inclosed car port. Works great for sheltering the car and bike but there's zero insulation. I can't really do anything unless it's in the 50 or higher with sun and little wind. It's frustrating. So I just hang out here looking at people like Cal making progress on their rides and I try to live vicariously.

I'll try to continue making progress and make it entertaining. I should just film the build when my boys come in the shop. They're 3 1/2 and 2. Everyone on this site would log in to watch. It's pure pandemonium, one has a screw driver the same size as him and the other is using the creeper as a skate board. It's pure comedy.

Sounds like my garage when I started building the Syborg truck. Not sure when but i hung a baby swing from the rafters so i could contain one of them so I could work on the truck.

ps - make sure it has a child proof buckle so they can't get out.

pss - make sure you don't add Monkey Bars as that didn't work so good and no you can't ask what happened.

WSSix 02-27-2014 06:44 PM

Sounds like a fun time for sure, Cal.

The Radio Flyer used to be what I napped them in when they were in the garage. Now we modified it a bit to get a little extra speed out of it. Handles pretty good to.

I figured if they're going to be in the garage, getting in the way, might as well start them off right. Those are real bead lock shifter cart wheels and the steering is all stainless rod and hiem joints. The next one I build will have a motor.

chichirone 02-28-2014 08:53 PM

Very cool radio flyer. Looks like fun for the kiddos. I want to get a couple of those or an old school pedal car made up PT style for my niece and nephew. :headspin:

Thanks. The boys love it and it will coast for a mile. Shop around for some used cart wheels and tires and it's pretty cheap to build them.

Thanks, Cal.

Anyone out there have a nice set of seats for my camaro? I'm looking for a low back style seat that has some side support that keeps you in the seat and accepts harnesses.I'm not a fan of the typical high back racing style seat that tend to get real wide around your head and shoulders. If anyone has a used set or any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks, Cal.

Cal, are you thinking something similar to the Recaros in Paul's second gen, but with more bolstering for the track, or are you thinking somewhere along the lines of a vintage looking bucket seat for racing.

I like these for vintage. When you're down in SoCal you want to stop by Sube Sports. I went to buy a driving suit and ended up sitting in all of their various display seats.

I like the Recaro's but don't necessarily need a high end leather seat for a car without interior and door glass. On the other hand, I like the look of the Cobra you sent me but I do want a seat that has some adjustability for drivers other than me. I haven't done much research but maybe I'm hoping for something that's not available.

Thanks, Cal.

Here's a question I hope someone can answer. How do I choose the correct brakes for my application? My car is strictly autocross and should weigh in around 2800 lbs. I'm running the full detroit speed catalog of suspension, LS3 525, 18x12 and 18x10 with BFG's. I've heard several suggestions on what to run and not one suggestion has been the same. I've had different suggestions within the same manufacture. I've been told to use 14", 13", 12", performance level, race only, booster, no booster and I'm struggling to commit to anything. Anyone have a suggestion or individual I can contact that can walk me through this. Lots of guys can sell you brakes, but few can really walk you through a detailed/educated reasoning for the application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Cal.

I did call Willwood and Baer. They seem a long ways apart from each other on the type/level of brakes I need. I haven't called Tobin @ Kore 3 but will. I know these are the experts but the suggested brake packages seem so far apart it makes you second guess what is the correct application.

Call Tobin, He'll run you through what you will need. Get a comfy chair, a note pad and a tall cup of coffee ready.

I'll toss in a dime, since its a track car, look at the rotor and pads a serious wear item that you will replace frequently. A set of $300 rotors might not be a good choice. That why I love factory stuff or at least an aftermarket company that uses it.

Thanks. I'll get a hold of him. I also like the factory stuff for some things, after all, they spent millions on R&D on their components.

If you're going to do strictly auto-x then the C6 Z51 Kore 3 brakes are plenty of brake for that. I would stick with a floating caliper in the rear with a non floating axle to combat knock back.

The manual vs power is really a preference imo, I prefer power brakes because I find it easier to finesse the pedals when your not using so much leg effort on the brake pedal.

Knock back is one of my concerns. I have experienced that in the Silver car and want to avoid it if possible. Thanks Tim.

Okay -- Didn't know if you'd spoken with the experts or not.
