That's the most true statement on this thread! I am a indecisive person anyways. So I'll spend the next 4 weeks second guessing my choice. Lucky for me, I am not painting the car anytime in the near future.

Thanks man, all the positive feed back makes me feel better about my decision. Hopefully they hurry up and get here before I can change my mind again!

Kore3 presents came today! Let me tell you Tobin is the BEST around. Everything was packaged nice, he has a wealth of knowledge to share and won't steer anyone in the wrong direction.

Mocked up the 325mm DBA slotted front rotors and c6 calipers.

Check out the machine work on these backing plates. I went to school for CNC and ran CNC for a number of years and still love to see the manufacturing process.

You are doing a great job Kevin and are almost there. Keep the pics coming.
Are you going to paint or use some type of coating on the floor pan?

Sieg 07-05-2014 06:46 AM

Nice work Kevin.......especially for being a member of the jackstand infantry. That's a lot of core exercise!

Thanks, I can't wait to have it on the ground again! I am planning on cleaning up the floors top and bottom, d90lf primer, then some matte top coat.

Ha, yeah situps are inevitable when building cars on jackstands.

Thank you, I can't wait but reality is that it will be a few years before I find out how it drives.

You and me both! I need some reassurance that I installed the 4 link right, :drowninga:

Driver side rail is narrowed and welded, also drivers mini tub is tacked in, just need to finish about 40 spot welds, and grind for a few days. Then it's ready to get off those jack stands for a while!

I dig your plans though

Dave

those are my go- to wheel if my car budget doesnt work out quite right, yeah I said budget :lmao:

Team III is close to me and offers a lot of custom machining to help brakes fit, etc. so that makes them attractive for a "budget" wheel.

Damn, now I like those too!....

Pickup up a cheapo sandblaster from tractor supply today, here's the progress.

Yeah, no other choice. Sweeps up ok plus that way I can screen and reuse the media. I know it's not ideal but neither is working under jackstands haha

Thanks, I feel much better about the finish the sand blaster leaves verses just wire wheel or grinding did. There is some light pitting the grinder just couldn't reach. I'll sleep better knowing that rust is pretty much gone now.

tubbed69 07-10-2014 06:33 PM

Kevin your work looks great and that metal looks like new.

Thanks man I only have about 25% done, need to find time to finish. Then more time to clean the media out of the garage before I can prime the floors.

kevin_l 07-14-2014 09:54 AM

Had a late night, finished blasting the rust from the bottom of the floor pan. Cleaned up the garage and sprayed a coat of epoxy primer, it was only taking a few days of this humid Missouri summer before lite surface rust was settling in, so I wanted to hurry and get that bare metal covered.

Looks great! You'll be finding sand for years to come in your garage!!! I can wear a complete suit, helmet, mask, booties (ie: space man suit!) and I'll still find sand in my wallet!

Yup, I had a tyvek suit, respirator, safety glasses, ear plugs, and a blasting hood and still had sand where it didn't belong. As far as the garage goes, the sand can blend in with the fiber glass, body filler and paint dust from the last few projects haha. I am sure my neighbors love when I sweep the floor with a gas leaf blower!

I can't wait to get the axle under the car, mount the tires and wheels and ditch the jack stands, even it's only for a little while!

Thanks man, I appreciate all the encouragement. It really helps keep me motivated when people comment on my builds. Here's the rest of todays progress. Got the rear end mounted and brakes mocked up. Lowered the car down to see ride height but my jack stands don't go down low enough.

Question do the welds take a 5/8" stud or only 1/2" studs? I really want 20x15 on my car.

Mine are 1/2" studs. I am sure they could offer you a wheel that works for 5/8" If you hurry they are offering a $100 per wheel rebate on 18's and 20's

syborg tt 07-24-2014 08:43 AM

Those wheels are going to look very nice on the car.
