Looks great! I did the same in my car. I welded the threaded piece to the bottom of the tunnel. Shifter comes out no problem. No console, just wrapped the tunnel in hushmat, then vinyl stitched to match my seats, with a universal shift boot glued to the shifter trim ring.

waynieZ 11-09-2016 04:52 PM

The tunnel looks good, and like Scott said good idea and nice job on the trim ring for the shift boot.

pro66tour 11-09-2016 05:13 PM

In these circumstances - custom is the only option...:thankyou:

Sheck44 11-10-2016 04:18 AM

Done yet ?

I honestly thought this car would be done by now !

:lmao:

Nice job Steve ...

jarhead 11-10-2016 07:34 AM

+1 on the shift ring, I am stealing that idea !

But some good progress still. Some fun restoring the dash carrier, thanks to AAW and Dakota Digital. Getting very close to turning the key and going for the first cruise in 6 years. Summer '18 looking very promising

Any progress is progress in the right direction, dash is looking great Joe!

pro66tour 11-22-2017 08:59 AM

...but moving along! So after many hopeful spring/summers, the car WILL be on the road this (2019) season. Been following along from time to time, always great motivation. Big thanks to my longtime friend Steve (aany001) for assisting me every step of the way.

Thanks to Tom Farrington @ TDS-Kreations went with a 3" Hooker Blackheart header/exhaust system. Great fit, hangers, product overall. Will be removing most clamps - mock-up for now. A little blurry - sorry.

waynieZ 02-26-2019 10:55 AM

It must feel good seeing the wiring close to being all wrapped up. The headers/exhaust looks like it fit very well.

tubbed69 02-26-2019 01:08 PM

Looking great Joe,I think you and Steve need to bring both cars to Columbus this year.Glad to see you getting close, now could you send Steve down here to help me out.Exhaust looks really nice, going with that on my build.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Bygblok 02-26-2019 04:34 PM

Hello All! Thanks for all your encouraging words and support throughout this build in particular to Steve @aany001. He can surely build them and proud he can add an A-Body to his list of protouring builds. Connect with me if you'd like on IG @gedagrip66. This forum is still a great resource and source of fellowship...

All is done (well never done), except body, paint and glass...but I'm going to drive her for a good while till then. :hapdance:

All the best with your builds!

Joe

Great looking car! Congrats on a job well done & sticking w/it through life's challenges. I like the current wheels more than previous versions. They just fit the original intended theme 'better' (my perspective).
Same sizes I assume?

Thank you Scott! Yes, I agree... just a basic but timeless set of vn215's and a conservative 18x8 front and 18x9 rear until the body work/tub happens. Then I'd like to go a Forgeline Heritage type set-up or a Weld S71. So for now, off to work I go lol...

tubbed69 10-16-2019 06:58 PM

Car looks great Joe,glad you can enjoy it now.Very cool pic with you and Steves car👍

214Chevy 10-16-2019 07:18 PM

I like the white color on it. Very classy!! Been fighting with should I leave my 69 white or not.

Interesting you say this, I will in the end go either white, black or a rich deep red such as Mark S. PPG Salsa Red on his 69'...decisions, decisions...

Thank you...
J:cheers:

Man, those Torq Thrusts in gray look soooo nice against the white!
If I were you I’d leave those wheels be and spend that money elsewhere.

If you do splurge, keep the TT’s to swap out. IMHO, you nailed it with those.

JD

rixtrix1 10-20-2019 01:27 PM

Car is looking good! I, too, like the TT's. At least you're is driveable, even if not finished. I'm still miles away from that stage with my Malibu. Thanks for sharing and motivating!

Much appreciated JD! If anything when I shorten the diff, will go an 18×10 with a 285 or 295 tire in the rear and call it a day👍
