Hi Jim thanks for the suggestions, I have included a new drawing showing most of the changes you had mentioned. I did slim down the area above the cluster. You had suggested lifting the top line 3/8" at the cluster end but I thought that it looked too thick when I did that. I used a 1200" radius to finish at 1/4" below the original height at the "glove box" end. I pretty much have all of the programming done to cut the whole top of the dash out of wood. I have cut the front section out based on the new design and I think it looks pretty good! Will post pics when I have a little more.
Thanks again!
BTW I do have about a 36" radius on the top from front to back also.

Steve........sorry it took a while to get back.....those changes take it to another level! You will like the way that light reflects off the curves when it's all done.
There's a lot of man-hours in that dash.....WE ARE ALL IMPRESSED
. :gitrdun: :gitrdun:

Are you using the GM dry sump?

Made brackets to mount the ecu and the pedal. The waterjet in the next room comes in handy!

Oops that last one is a little fuzzy!
Also making a panel to mount all of the Dakota Digital and Ikey stuff. These are the brackets we made to mount the panel to the cage cross bar http://<a href="https://imageshack.c...924/5KSEc3.jpg[/IMG]

slenning 06-15-2016 09:28 AM

I posted a pic of this on another thread yesterday but figure I should post it on here also.

Dakota Digital made this controller up custom for me to match the VHX-1100 I'm using in my dash. It's the first controller they've made with the black bezel and the carbon fiber face. Their shop is just a couple of miles from mine. Their shop is incredible and a great bunch of guys!!

Fabricated a new "speaker" shelf and got that welded in

got the down bars made and installed to tie the cage to the subframe, also you can see the tie down brackets we made welded to the front crossmember
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/924/PWG3Mf.jpg
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/923/sq669k.jpg

Was trying to decide how I wanted to mount the IIMuch fuel and rear end vents and decided to cut a crossmember in similar to the DSE piece on my 69 that the shocks mount to. Used 12 Guage and it welds to the frame rails at each end and provides a flat spot to mount the vents and probably the JRI shock canisters.

I don't know what your planned use of the car is but if you plan on any road course action you're asking for trouble with that small of a tank. You should use at least a 10 qt. tank. I started out with a 2 gallon in mine in the beginning and ultimately killed the bearings from starvation and aeration of the oil.

Thanks for the info Tim!! I definitely plan on road course use, what did you end up with for a tank? I don't have room for a bigger tank in the cowl area where I have the tank now but I have thought about modifying the tank with a bump out on the lower section like Stielow does.

You can add to the tank but I would put some baffles in the section you add. I built a custom tank that sits over the inner fender.

Not much of an update but;
Camaro went to the body shop a few weeks ago, FINALLY
I took a few pics 2 weeks ago when i was there. The shop is about two miles from mine, so I have that going for me, which is nice

The quarters are pulled 1 1/2". I had a second set of quarters sitting here ( the ones I said earlier in the thread fit like crap) that we used to do it. I stopped last friday after being out of town all last week and they have both sides fully welded, hammer and dollied, english wheeled, side marker holes filled, primed and back on the car.
They were stretching the outer fenderwells when I was there.

But!! I forgot to take pictures :twak:
I will be back there and taking pictures by tomorrow

syborg tt 07-14-2016 11:47 AM

Steve looks nice and I am looking forward to tomorrow pictures.

Any new updates?? AWESOME BUILD!!

Centerforce 08-30-2016 05:24 PM

We really like seeing someone go the custom dash route, as opposed the stock one. It really gives you the freedom to come up with a sweet design!

I need to get a dash custom built for my TA since the new roll cage comes down right by the A-pillars. No one near Charleston, SC that I'm aware of though that does this sort of thing so I may have to do it myself but I'd rather get someone better than me. ;-) !!!!

Thanks I think it's going to be pretty cool, but we'll see, maybe I'm just :lostmarbles: BTW I received my DYAD a couple of weeks ago, very nice!!

Then you have the exact same amount of experience as me!! Go for it

slenning 09-08-2016 09:14 AM

Ok Here's an update, although not much of one

Quarters, inners all welded on except around rear window as I am waiting for a Fesler flush glass set.
First two pics give an idea of how much the quarters were pulled (1 1/2"), I love the way it looks
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/921/0WiHH2.jpg
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/922/OLXIbV.jpg
Now the shop is tucking the bumper in to the body and working on getting consistent gaps around the perimeter. Also filled the seam between the qtr and tail panel
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/922/vhsgks.jpg
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/924/E4JxwE.jpg
Tried to take a couple pics to show how tight the outer wheel weels fit the qtr but it doesn/t show up too well. I'll try to get a couple with better lighting

I did also receive another puzzle piece from DSE. This has the new "Stielow" floater setup on it. The Baer 6S brakes are here also.
