Looks great! Thanks for the answer!

Well done. I think you hit the magic recipe. I tried the pie cut method...your solution is cleaner! Looks great.

I put the front spoiler on just to get an idea of what the finished front will look like, I have been going in circles as to what will be the color on these pieces, Im thinking that bumpers will be chrome and the bezels and marker lights (not shown) along with the brake vent bezel will be silver like the wheels and grill, body color is going to be flat white with a wee bit of pearl, Thoughts?

Goosesdad 03-09-2018 09:27 AM

Looks wicked Alex. Any other chrome on the car? Chrome and white do work well together, in my humble opinion.

alex n 03-09-2018 09:52 AM

bumpers and door handles are going to be chrome so far

214Chevy 03-09-2018 11:07 AM

All of you guys are making me wish I had kept my 72 RS....damn!! :(:headscratch:

Goosesdad 03-09-2018 11:31 AM

My humble opinion....love the matte silver of the wheels. Would be elegant to keep that silver/white combo throughout. Either way, love your car!

214Chevy 03-09-2018 01:47 PM

I went back thru the thread and unless I missed it, what rear end/kit are you using?

alex n 03-09-2018 05:25 PM

Speedtech torque arm with an aluminum Strange center section, I don't think I posted pics of that set up

I really like your paint choice......matte white. Of course you are the master of your own domain just throwing it out there, front spoiler matte black, bumper & door handles black chrome matte- https://www.arlingtonplating.com/cap...hrome-plating/

Grill, headlight bezels, vent ducts, markers painted a shade of gunmetal that doesn't look too far off the black chrome.
On my Cortez silver car I found that the chrome really didn't stand out like on darker paint jobs. That's why I went with Endura front bumper instead.

Whatever you decide post some pics so we can drool.
Simon

If it still doesn't work, might try clearing your cookies for lat-g and login again. I've seen that weird message only once or twice on another vBulletin forum.

Well it let me post one pic and back to duplicate post issues with different pictures and now more token issues, social media is so much easier to post on I wonder why forums are so difficult

Love the rendering! Needs gold wheels....then again, I say that for many builds, but not all...LOL

Alex....great concept....take Chevrolet's Euro theme to it's logical extreme. They should have gone this far back in the day!

One constructive comment from an ex-GM body designer (me) .....NEVER use a straight line nor flat surface on an auto body, they always look negative (hollow).
Case in point is your turn signal housings....they need to be curved across the front face, preferably in both directions. Imagine taking a file and drawing it across the front face while rotating your wrists.....mmmm nice flowing reflections (called highlights).
Also the mesh needs the same treatment, by making a simple press tool from bondo to form the mesh forward from the rear ( gentle pillow shape ).
Use a timber or steel outer frame the same shape as the surround to maintain the mesh flatness where it goes behind the surround.
A little research you will find OEMs NEVER have a flat surface anywhere.
Great project.....more power to you.
Jim.

Fantastic work, Alex! Love the Euro look. It clean and flows very well.

I think I agree with Andrew on the rims. Maybe not a true gold, but I think the silver doesn't contrast the white enough. Just a thought.

Keep up the great work

XLexusTech 10-28-2018 04:14 AM

I cannot complement you enough on this car ... so very well done

The lower turn signal housing are flat like the originals, I'm still playing with the idea of using a different mesh there , perhaps perforated metal of some sort, as for the round upper housings , there's not much I can do to change the shape without modifying the valance. I'll have to have a scotch tonight and stare at it for an hour or so. sometimes when I do that I'll get an inspiration out of it

I though this billet grill would be an awesome addition to my build , it is made by Evod industries. They make a lot of one offs for SEMA cars etc..., 7grand they want, I think I’m going to pass and stick with what I have. It is a beautiful piece and uses a giant slab of aluminum before machining

Sheck44 11-07-2018 03:00 AM

Yeah, I thought I wanted one of their billet grills too that I saw them make for a first gen until they said $8k for my 69.
