I started fabricating a panel to go behind the glovebox area of my car where I could mount all my ignition electronics. I didn't want to drill or butcher my firewall so I made this panel and welded nuts where I needed to mount things.

I'm getting really excited to finally bolt things onto the car for the last time. Hopefully. I've been working on the wiring with a good friend of mine. We decided to install a new electrical bulkhead for all the wiring forward of the fire wall. I used a Delfi connector and it will be moved to the outside driver's edge of the firewall where it will be hidden by the fender. In order to get to that area I had to run the wires into the pocket where the air vent was. I am replacing the vent with speakers so I can use the original kick panels.

You have a lot of good ideas going on here !! I wish we was this far along .

:thankyou: :thankyou:

Fresh wiring looks great going in there! I think I mentioned this before, but love that shot of the rear quarter. I get messy everytime I see it:wow: lol

Nice job on the panel, it looks good installed. That's a sweet clutch set up.

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to get the trunk floor finished up this weekend and finish painting the under side. That'll be a huge moment when I can really start rolling on the assembly.

Not super happy with the trunk floor pans I got. There's a couple subtle differences like an extra drain hole in the middle and the raised beads on the bottom ran too high in the back. They prevented the pan from sitting flush against the rear cross member. So I had to break out the torch and hammer and flatten them out. Other than that they fit good and I sectioned it in a way that from underneath you could never tell they were replaced. I can make the inside undetectable as well but I'm not going to spend a ton of time on the top because I'm gonna Dynamat the floor.

Flattening them out on the end worked out well and most of what you see was covered by the cross member , including the butt weld

With what you had in front of you, you have to be happy with the outcome. Looks like the rest of the build, CLEAN...

Thank you pro66tour

Finishing up the trunk floor. I spent a lot of time trying to make these aftermarket pans fit and hiding all the seems so you can't tell I ever put pans in it. It's taken a while but I'm happy with the progress so far.
This is the only visible seem and it cleaned up really well. Can't tell! http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/...psvwtobzdh.jpg Little grinding and some putty http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/...pshzzsnumm.jpg |

I used this SEM Trim Black. It's really easy to spray and has a nice factory sheen when it's dry.

:gitrdun: That finish looks great. Nice job!
|
Wow, that turned out great! Nice work.
|
I'm liking that finish a lot!
|
Thank you, me too!
|
Looks real good! What are your plans for the front suspension and brakes?
|
Thank you! I'm going with Ride Tech coil overs, tubular control arms, and tall 2" drop spindles. I plan on going the Kore3 C5 route for brakes but to be honest, I might get the car back together and do the brakes after. Plus that way I have something to compare it to. I have a big front sway bar but would like to go with the Ride Tech one also. I've heard mixed reviews about the hydro boosters but I'm about to put one on a friends 67 Chevelle so I'll make my mind up on that after.

The paint came out great. Nice work.

Thank You! Happy 4th of July everyone! Spent some time over the weekend putting the rear end back in and hopefully for good. It's kinda nice pulling out the locktite and finding new hardware.

Happy 4th! :flag2: Wow…All looks fantastic!!!

Thank you! I guess sometimes it's not always better to have a bigger pipe! LOL, I have a hard time going from the old drag racing ideology to pro touring or resto mod. I had these Hooker Super Comp headers with 2" primaries and a 3 1/2" collector. They hang really low and there's little room for spark plug wires, steering, etc. I got these Headmen Elites with 1 7/8" tubes and 3" collectors and gained almost 2" of ground clearance!

For the application the Headman's are great fit. Are those the: Hedman Husler® LS Engine Swap Headers 45216? I will be purchacing these this summer (although the pic in the add may not be the specific application) and from the research I've done they are what you've just installed. That confirms things for me…Cheers!
|
Thanks Joe. No they aren't the Hustlers. I have a big block chevy. I'm kinda stuck on old school for now but haven't ruled out a future LS swap.

Installed my new Tanks Inc fuel tank. Well kinda. I rushed it in to see what it looks like but it'll come back out when my strap insulators come in. I'm going to put a sheet of Dyna mat on top too. But here's a sneak peak!
I'm kinda bummed all my goodies are hidden though. I haven't seen a tank in this car in more than ten years as it had a fuel cell mounted in the trunk before. I posted a question in the engine fuel section if anyone who see's this has any input on this setup http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/...psg4rek6iy.jpg |

Looking good buddy, I see the panel you talked about under your glove box you talked about on the phone. I am going to look into that suggestion.
