Aint that the truth, good luck with the new paint shop

Thanks, I defiantly have a hard time staying on track with what I originally wanted out of this car. I love the whole process, so it’s all fun.

Looking good!!

Jimbo1367 11-18-2018 06:55 AM

I absolutely love all the pics in post 72. One of my favorite forum builds of all time.

glassman 11-18-2018 07:24 AM

So good!!! It resembles mine in many ways, and still can't get enough of it. I must say, your gonna really really enjoy driving it!!
What's the ETA on paint? And what are the interior plans? (Stockish or custom?)

Thanks Mike, you have a pretty awesome car!
I just found a new shop for paint and body work, they are telling me a couple months to get it in there. Interior is going to be basically stock, with some custom seat stitching to resemble factory standard interior. I really wanted this car to be as close to factory appearing, but be enjoyable to drive.

Jim, these are all the products I used to do these panels. After body work and primer I sprayed the SEM texturing paint and then sanded it lightly with 400 grit to get a uniform texture. Once that was done I sprayed with the OER black paint. I also included a pic of the panels before the plastic filler!

Hope this helps!

Sorry about not getting to reply until now. TYVM I reference your build thread a lot on what I want to do next. Your work inspires me immensely.

No problem! I’m no expert, hopefully some of my ideas work for you.

Car is getting some exhaust

I’m having my exhaust done on the car while I wait for a spot at the body shop.
I wish I had some welding skills like this guy https://instagram.com/frankensteinsp...d=gqbyqt64gwy4

He’s doing something a little driffrent, I think it should sound pretty awesome. I’m sure my nieghbors will not be pleased lol. I,m running 3” with Borla XR-1 mufflers. Can’t wait to hear the car running.

Goosesdad 11-27-2018 07:43 AM

Beautiful!

syborg tt 11-27-2018 12:54 PM

Holy crud does that look cool and honestly I can't wait to hear it.

I also jumped on Facebook to look at his stuff and I am blown away.

You all need to go check out his exhausts. His welds are awesome.

ps I hope it's okay that I went snooping and found him on facebook and then posted it in your bitchen thread.

Tommy is a machine when it comes to perfect exhaust and other welding across all types of metal.

Can't wait to see/hear this thing in person... when do you potentially think you'll be in the body shop and when do you hope to have it roadworthy? Spring 2019 for bodywork and driving anytime 2019?

I hoping to have this car wrapped up by late spring. It’s basically ready to start, all my plumbing and electrical is 95% done. I will most likely get it running when I get it back from Tommy. The shop that’s painting it is pretty busy so hopefully I can get it in there in the next month or so. Once it’s done it’ll be great to meet up with everyone.

Thank you Sandro for letting me get a bit creative on your car. its a beautiful build and its gonna be sick when shes done!!!

And thanks for the comments guys, very grateful

Awesome! I'm starting to entertain looking into potential places for a nice repaint job, for when I'm ready to commit to winter bodywork in 2-3 years time. I'll be interested to see who you go with and the resulting quality of work.. since your car is such crazy good quality so far!

Cheers,
Joe

Joe, thanks for the compliments. Im definitely no expert but I do enjoy working and challenging myself with these projects. It also doesn’t help being on this fourm and seeing all these amazing projects coming together, incuding yours. Looks like I’m going to be getting Travis, from Sharp Touch Restorations, to finish my car.

WSSix 11-28-2018 03:51 PM

Welcome Tommy! The pipes look great. Why two x's though? I haven't seen that done before.

Ive always wanted to do it i guess and ive seen it done here and there. Back in the day ford offered a double x pipe exhaust upgrade for a 01 cobra. Its supposed to make a different sound and im tired of hearing the same ls motor sound. i figured id see what some nice borla mufflers with a dual x pipe will sound like.

I've heard a lot of good things about Travis and his work. After seeing your post about Tommy I gave him a call about doing the exhaust on my 69.I really liked what I saw on his web site.Have you decided on a color yet or did I miss that part?

Thanks David, that’s good to hear about Travis. Tommy does awesome work and he’s a great guy too.
I’m painting the car 2008 corvette machine silver with the black z28 stripes.

Thank you and that it was. The best part is I learned a lot from that build and have since built a much more usable car.

On a side note it looks like the Syborg Truck is going to Barrett Jackson this January. I may go just to buy it back...wait that would be a bad idea

Dave, you definitely won’t be disappointed!

Dave Pratt 12-06-2018 07:45 PM

Mind me asking where you picked up your Borla mufflers?I'm hoping somewhere local seeing as I was looking that way for my exhaust as well.Your system is insane by the way...

Thanks Dave, I bought most of my parts for this car through Summit Racing. Seems like the border guards are getting to know me, even once and a while they ask why its taking so long.lol

These are the ones that I bought, Borla XR-1 Racing Mufflers 40943

Dave Pratt 12-07-2018 08:29 AM

Funny thing about that border...I'll order a bunch of parts and be over and back a few times a week then nothing for a month...I get the "where you been" speach from the guys and the "oh,car parts" from the ladies working there.Always try to pick the right booth is tough!

Dave Pratt 12-10-2018 04:44 PM

I went out to talk to Tommy about doing my exhaust and your car as well as Ryan's 69 were in there.Seeing the work you've done in person was really impressive to say the least.Mine goes in sometime towards the end of January, just ordered mufflers and supplies today...that car of yours is going to be a beast...Tommy mentioned Raj is getting work done out there soon as well. What a great shop...

Thanks Dave,
you don’t even know how disappointed I am with the body work that’s been done on the car, or the lack of it. I’m excited about getting the car back on track with the new body shop.
Tommy is one of those guys that obviously loves what he does and it shows in his work. Your in great hands.
