I'm in for a donation, been thinking I hope the family has access on his profile here and one day can see what a total stranger did to help and touch soo many . You're right his daughter is way cuter ... I think it's the lack of 5 o clock shadow lol. Anyone can message me and let me know how to contribute.

David Pozzi 07-16-2019 04:50 PM

I don't want to speak for the family but perhaps a donation to a Cancer charity in his name would be a good idea. But please please please pick one with a good rating, there's quite a fake rating game going on with Cancer charities.

TheJDMan 07-16-2019 06:14 PM

The American Cancer Society is the only organization I would consider. You can donate online in the memory of someone.

As GW reminded a few of us frequently..... It sucks to be you guys. He's right again. :sieg:

He was the most loyal friend I've ever had, just an amazing individual that was incredibly generous with his time and knowledge when it came to helping a fellow car guy/gal. And without a doubt one of the best trouble shooting minds I've ever known.

The last four days have been real tough. There will not be a day during the rest of my coherent life that I won't reflect on some contribution GW made to me.

Secondly, if not...I think we should being that Greg has helped many of us out on a plethora of occasions, rather physically or just sound advice. He's made an impact on this forum. I doubt anyone disagrees with what he brought to the table. Therefore, I know this isn't financially on Lat-g, so we could pass the hat. Nothing big...just a small donation from a few of us to send a reef, small spray, bouquet of flowers, etc. For anyone who wants to take the lead who may know how to get in contact with his wife/family to have it delivered. I'd be the first to fork over my $5 for such a cause. Provide a Paypal, Ca$h App, Zelle, etc. account. For example, if 20 guys gave $5/each...$100 would buy a nice gift. Something to think about. Lastly, I hadn't been back and read thru all of the posts in this thread, so if this has been discussed or already taken care of, I digress. I'm sure Greg would give his $5 for one of us, knowing the Greg I know.

I have been wanting to do something in his memory, and I like this idea. I can handle the donations also, just need to research which organization is best.

Last summer around this time I felt Greg was in a funk - weak poor appetite etc. To try to cheer him up, I off Handedly said to not give up, otherwise Sieg will run off with Gwen after, you don’t want that do you? I asked - without hesitation he says “Omg she would kill him...” lol he perked up and appreciated the normality and simple joy Of bs ing about life and car stuff - he loved our latg community without a doubt

groovyjay 07-16-2019 07:58 PM

Thanks GW for everything. Miss you already buddy!

I love that idea David. Also the Mayo Clinic, and cannabis cancer research

We definitely talked about his health issues but also never stopped the normal banter we’ve shared for years. When I helped him move his Thunderhill shop I remember cleaning out the old shop and some sappy country music song came on his play list. As I walked past him I mentioned that this **** was straight up suicide music, he said-I’ve got a bottle of morphine and a .45, I replied with my usual response, you go I go. We both paused, looked at each other and just started laughing.
I feel like he fought to the end to get things the way he felt they’d be best. He championed and made it out to the track a few times, saw his friends a couple more times and was ok with the world around him.
This pic is the last Sonoma trip when Dave was running his car. Rob Dickey convinced Weld to get out of the house and “just go”. We all met and spent the weekend at a wet track doing what we do. I have pictures of Greg wrenching on Dave’s car, fixing some electrical issues but this is more fitting. He absolutely loved being with his friends and helping where he could.

I'm in, let me know when and where to send a donation. I kinda like the cannabis research idea, but whichever you choose, I'm ok with it.

This was the first time I had been around Greg outside of the shop. This was the Del Mar Good Guys show 2011. I do believe he sported this hat for a little bit on Saturday morning of the show after proudly wearing it during our entire meal at the Mexican Restaurant the night before. I always appreciated Greg's honesty, sense of humor and overall passion for the things and people he loved. He was always encouraging of my career and never held back on his opinions and inputs on how I should go about my business. These are conversations I will cherish for ever and will continue to look back on when I need a boost. Thanks for being a Mentor and Friend Greg! Rest in Peace

Krazed 07-19-2019 07:11 AM

I realize that none of you likely know me, especially since I haven't really posted on here in a few years, but I have been around for a good 12 years.

Between all the car sites I visit (not often enough) Greg was always the one that stuck out. In a good way. He always had the passion, the drive, and the attitude that made up entertaining posts.

Everywhere I look, Greg was posting something. Always helpful and funny, never afraid to speak his mind.

I never spoke to the guy, messaged him, or interacted with him in any way, but after reading the Dirt Missile thread these past few months I was going to make it a point to seek him out at GoodGuys in Scottsdale (if he was there).

Sad to say, I never got to do that this spring, and it looks like I won't this fall either. I feel like I lost a friend even though we never spoke!

Rest in peace Greg, you were a one of a kind guy, a friend to all.

We should all be a little more "Greg" every day.

When you go to GoodGuys Scottsdale, find his Daughter Adrienne, she is a chip off the block, a Wonderful Woman with the same Passion & Energy as her Dad. She lives there and works as a Sous Chef

A friend sent me this a few days ago and it got me thinking. This trip started with a text that said— Are you going to SEMA, if so where are you staying? I let him know I hadn’t decided and just wasn’t sure about any of it. He replied something like, ok it’s settled you’re staying with me, do you need a pass to the show? Why he brought me into the fold I’ll never know and honestly I quit trying to figure it out. A week in Vegas is way too long but spending it with him, his family and close friends made it all worth while.
Taken at the track during Optima with Sieg on the receiving end of the love in the picture.

I think I was running at that one. I remember Sieg being there and was parked next to greg iirc. Maybe not. He helped introduce me to the track. Godspeed my friend

Well damn.... I haven't logged on in close to a year. I couldn't sleep so I decided to pop in and see what the hell Weld was up to. I never met him but I always felt like he was a friend. It's amazing how he was able to touch so many people's lives. Always there with advice or a great joke. He leaves a void that is certainly impossible to fill.

Several years ago I was in the middle of completing my son's room and was looking for items to "decorate" it. Several members shipped things to me and Weld stepped up in the Weld way and sent a package with some really cool stuff.... one of them being a Rat Fink clock.

I think I have a picture somewhere of my son opening the package... I'll see if I can find it.

So sad to see that he is no longer with us but I am happy he is no longer suffering..... RIP and I hope he is still giving the finger on a regular basis!

**EDIT just found the picture from 2012 of my son opening Greg's package.
