ooh shiny metal:drool:

clill 04-02-2007 02:17 PM

The headers were chemically polished. Takes about 1/1000th off the pipe. Will turn kind of golden after some heat.

olds87 04-02-2007 04:17 PM

The headers would look sick even if it turn goldish.

Also, how much torq that engine make? Any one?

:D nuff said!!

ProdigyCustoms 04-03-2007 04:03 AM

Wow that seemed like a very long run. If it will survive that, it will surely handle Charlies lite foot.

Are the results being released?

clill 04-03-2007 06:54 AM

It is a very mild engine for being a 565" I think the hp was 575. I thought I had the dyno sheet on my computer but windows Vista has managed to make doing anything a pain in the ass. I emailed Kurt at W2W for the info. It has been over a year since it was done.

Sales@Dutchboys 04-03-2007 07:46 AM

Man! that is going to be a sweet ride:thumbsup: Keep us updated.

clill 04-03-2007 10:32 AM

Tq was 594@4500 and hp was 569@5600. Nice torque engine. I will email Scott the dyno scans to post.

olds87 04-03-2007 04:11 PM

I guess you can shread the tire easy. :D

was the motor tuned for drive ability or just a number?
looks good!!!

awr68 04-03-2007 08:16 PM

How does this compare to the old motor...power wise?

Does The Mule need a driver for HRPT? ;)

I'm sure they made it driveable and able to live on marginal gas. If they would have built it to make a number it would have made a lot more peak power.

It does have nice torque doesn't it? Over 570 lb/ft all the way to 5000 RPM.

Cool as usual Charley.

clill 04-03-2007 10:35 PM

I'm not sure how it compares to the old engine. When I bought the car off Ebay the seller was saying the 532" was making 630 hp. Mark never had any real #'s for it. I would assume with the bigger crank it will make more than before so I have to assume it didn't make 630 hp before. I know I ran 12:15@122 starting out in second gear. I'm just a sucker for torque. This car never cares what gear you are in, it just pulls. I can't wait to have my old friend back.

I'm a big sucker for torque also, cool car and I sense she is your favorite. Looking forward to coming up for a ride some day.

clill 04-04-2007 07:34 AM

It's a 9-1 compression engine so as before, it could probably run on beer without pinging.

I'm glad you're bringing her on Power Tour this year, Charlie. Me and a few other board members will be in Kalamazoo in June. When I saw it at W2W a few years ago, I thought I'd never get a chance to see it in person again. I think a lot of us (especially the '67 and '68 owners) have a soft spot for that car, and always will. I'm glad it has an owner that knows that a great thoroughbred would rather stretch her legs than sit in the stall and be pampered.

See ya on the 3rd.

Sales@Dutchboys 04-14-2007 11:41 AM

I sooooo Cant wait to see this thing in june! looking good.

awr68 04-14-2007 08:16 PM

Yeah rub in the fact that I'll be sitting here in Oregon while once again you all have fun!! ;) Damn I love that car!!

nvawgn 04-14-2007 10:22 PM

that hood brings back memory's, i used to make hoods for the guy that ran in the scca in a miget except we used to put kevlar in the center because he liked the yellow and it kept it intackt when it flew off the car

Camaro Zach 04-14-2007 10:38 PM

Car looks good

But I can't believe Rick's would send out an un finished tank. They should have atleast taken some scotchbrite to it...

 have you seen the other stainless tanks made out there? Ricks is the nicest by far. Not sure what you mean by unfinished, his looks scotchbrited to me, none of the others are even close to an even finish.

Here's a pic of the competitions tank as received.

Those grind marks are all over their tanks, to grind down weld marks. I am not bashing the other company at all, I've used several of their tanks in the past. But I feel Ricks is far superior in the looks department, so was a bit confused by the earlier post.

My guess is that the last picture is a Rock Valley. I always just figured the shop boogered mine up putting it in.
