Duh...it's early. Let's see them dyno numbers and video.
|
They show a 5.3L being 325 cid and you made 499 hp which is approx 1.54 hp per cu in.
If you could do that again you'd make 697 hp. |

Today was dyno day.. my guess (what I hoped for) was 650/620.. turned out to be a decent guess.
While the cam we're running is large compared to other LS cams it's not that big considering the displacement of the engine. COMP said I could pick up a bunch of tq/hp by moving to a more aggressive 112 LSA, but drivability and idle would suffer. Since I don't want too much power and I want to keep my street friendly drivability we settled on a 114 LSA. Fired right up.. idle was good and after some break in time Westech made some pulls and adjusted the A/F.. Best pull was 650 hp and 613 tq.. but the best part is that even down at 3500 rpm it's already making 550 lb/ft. The torque peeks at around 4600 and is still well over 500 up at 6500. That's the kind of torque curve I was looking for - flat and a bit weighted to the bottom/midrange area. Friday we start installing.. this engine should serve me well while I CAREFULLY build my RHS blocked / Mast Motorsport headed 460 engine. Wow Steve. That looks great.
Nice torque numbers and curve. That'll be a blast in Penny... |

:woot: Nice numbers Steve - Big Block numbers for sure. Now we will really get to see Penny's suspension and brakes working-it-out on the track! |
Here's a little video for you guys.. turn your speakers up and rock out to the LS goodness..

Nice pull Steve. Race Engine Development does some nice work on sleeving.. hey. Now you can have all the future power adders you want for next years rebuild LOL. What ever happened to the RHS block?

Great tq numbers at 3500.
You mentioned doing a 460. What will it be going into? Similar specs to the 454? |
