Well... remember.... just because you can doesn't mean you should.


This is a big undertaking... not financially (for me), but in terms of use. I have a large driveway and parking area for it... so I don't have to store it somewhere else. But this thing is a class 8 truck - and at 75' it's longer than your average truck... so that means you're not filing it at the local Chevron... and there's roads you can't drive on - and bridges you can't go under... and on and on. What I'm hoping for is that it's not so much hassle that it isn't worth the effort.

I have a large bucket list of shows I'd like to go to... and places I'd like to see... and with both Gwen and I retired now... I'd like to just take off and go to them. I want to sleep in my own bed - and eat my own cooking etc. I'm just hoping the learning curve isn't too steep!

I just hope Charley gets the driveway widened out before September... but I guess I can stop out on the road and pick up his '66... and a Busch car... so when he flies into Bakertucky for Buttonwillow, he'll have something to drive.

i know when we were racing Hard and had the 50' trailer with 3 cars and the lift gate, and lounge and and, it was alot of work once you arrived at tne track. lol wait till you have to wash it the first time.
super handy to have EVERYTHING in it's place, it doesn't come out of the trailer so you now need 2 of everything, but i bet once you hit the roaad and get comfortable you will be gone fo rmonths. flying the wife in.

Well -- You've been in my "shed" -- I've got a few spare tools.... and the stuff that's already in my current trailer will transfer over. I had one of the big cabinets in the stacker converted to tool box drawers and one has a 4hp compressor... then there's two more on the other side... so it should have plenty of storage.

Since I'm not a "race team" -- if there's an issue with a car that isn't just a simple hose clamp type fix -- it'll just be loaded up and fixed when I'm at home. This is all just for fun so I'm not busting my arse over a hot car trying to get through the next 10 laps.

It's funny - originally I was just going to do a 14' living quarters in a 44' gooseneck trailer - and everyone told me what a big hassle that was going to be - and that my dually wasn't really big enough and blah blah blah...

and here we are

You are a race team and you will be fixing more than just a hose clamp. You think that stupid little wheel bearing or u-joint is going to send you home ? You think that water pump will send you home when there is one in town at the Napa store ? Hah ! Dream on.

The other day we're in the car and her ex CEO calls -- starts asking her what RSU's to give a VP and signing bonus etc.... Mind you - we sold this biz over a year ago - and she retired December of 2011.... This is a 1 Billion dollar company in sales... and he's still asking her what to do! :lol: We're friends so it doesn't matter... but when she hung up -- first thing she said was -- "thank gawd I don't have to do that stuff anymore!"

She'll never go back to work anywhere -- except Boards of companies or something along those lines and then ONLY for fun... and if it isn't something she thinks would be fun -- it ain't happenin'!
