I picked up a little bling to cover those ugly coils. I also have a set of Holley polished valve covers for it. ( I'm embarrassed to say I miss placed them and now I can't find them in all this chaos in the garage. )

Here are the coil covers, I tried one on for size. I'll use socket head screws.

Wow Wayne you have got some time in it 👍👍 good job

Che70velle 11-04-2017 10:51 AM

Wayne I love this build! Great work as always...
How tight do the coil covers fit to the coil? I like them, but I wonder if they will trap too much heat, and cause the coil to overheat?
Where did you get them?

waynieZ 11-04-2017 02:55 PM

I didn't really notice how tight they were but I think the aluminum would act as a heat sinc.
I got them form E Bay
Andrew has some different manufacturers covers on his Cougar and I've never heard him say anything bad about them. If I try them again I'll see if I can tell how much separation there is.

gofastwclass 11-04-2017 04:23 PM

Those covers are a nice finishing touch.

waynieZ 11-07-2017 09:04 PM

Thanks, Andrew had some like them on his Cougar and I liked them so I kept my eye open for something like them and found these.

Christmas goodies!

Well Santa was good to me this year with everything but weather and time to get in the garage. He did send me some goodies for the car.
The first is a Twist Machine Paddle shifter, Looks pretty good.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/7x1B4I.jpg

Next I got an E-Stop electric parking brake.

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/CNGxzC.jpg

The weather is a little better so I might be able to warm it up to a tolerable temp.

GregWeld 01-16-2018 08:31 PM

Parts is always good! LOL

tmadden 01-17-2018 09:34 PM

E Stopp

I really want one. Let us know if it’s righteous

Chiva 12-09-2018 11:22 PM

Anything happening the last year? Just really curious to know if you have any updates and how you are doing?

Rob

Waiting for the great return of Waynie !

Steve

gofastwclass 12-10-2018 05:22 AM

Me too. I would like to see Wayne drive this thing. :D

Besides making sure he's still on the proper side of the dirt, I'm also curious about the e-stopp. I thought about buying one now that my car is a six speed and has no parking brake. :sieg:

Goosesdad 12-10-2018 08:59 AM

Hey Wayne. Looking good man!
If I had my E-Stopp to do over again, I would not use the Al splitter set-up they sell, I would just use the one that comes with the Lokar cables. It's smaller and saves a few bucks.

waynieZ 12-11-2018 10:21 PM

Thanks for the heads up John.

Chiva 12-21-2018 01:20 PM

I saw that you bought some new gauges on the forum here so, just wondering how your project is going? Sorry, I don't mean to be a stalker I just happened to see you were the one who purchased them. I was looking at them too. They are nice gauges.

Rob

waynieZ 12-21-2018 10:53 PM

Thanks, I decided to go the Dekota RTX rout and use the the OBD connection to run them. Now I'll put up my Auto Meter Ultra Lite II gauges and the Metron dash for sale. It's been a tough year around here but it will get better.
Rob don't worry about being a stalker I love talking cars especially if it helps someone.

Wayne

Lenie 12-29-2018 11:47 PM

Really looking good Wayne!

waynieZ 12-30-2018 08:35 PM

Thanks Lenie. I hope the house is coming along for you and the wife. Have a good New Year

snappytravis 01-01-2019 12:08 AM

Rodney Dangerfield curse,

OK so it's been tough getting to work on the car for quit a while ( Need new hip). So I caved and looked for someone to get under the dash and take care of the wiring for me. As expected it's a long waiting list to get in. Then I talked to a guy and he had just finished a job and could take it as soon as I could get it there. BUT lots to still get done, steering column, finish brakes, fuel line and other small stuff. My son in law came home from work and came right over ( my daughter got lucky with this guy! ) stayed till 11-12 and got up to go to work. So we were set to send the car today at 8 AM , but of course Rodney snuck up and bit me in the BUTT! Last nights snow storm stopped that in it's tracks. There are no windows in or hood on it. I just couldn't see it going with all that salt, so it's now a Monday 8 AM pick up. The Rodney part is no snow for two months and it happens when I need it not to snow.
OK enough crying.
Here are the first pictures of the car on it's Temporary wheels in at least 4 years and with the drive train in it.

Progress is great Waynie, glad to see you working on it:thumbsup::thumbsup:

WSSix 03-07-2020 04:04 PM

Looking good, Wayne. I like your choice of rims. Good luck with the car and your hip.

waynieZ 03-09-2020 10:01 PM

Thanks guys, I sent the car out to do some wiring on it.

Here are some pictures of it on the road, well above the road really.
I hoped the first time out the tires would be on the ground!

https://i172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5uadpuli.jpg
Up Up and away!

https://i172.photobucket.com/albums/...ps56dlfo03.jpg

https://i172.photobucket.com/albums/...psr3m4oydc.jpg

And delivered safely!

Now to finish the wiring in the garage, insulate, and maybe sheet rock.

waynieZ 03-14-2020 12:35 PM

Man I wish GM hadn't taken so much out of the ECU on the connect and cruise package. No PWM for the fans ( there is a patch for that ) now it's no signal to show current gear to the dash. I should have gotten a ZR1 ECU and had stuff removed. It's been $100 here and 150 there to get the RTX dash to show what I want.
I wish I would have known, Meaning the GM ECM not the dash.

I think the issue is that Series of ECU was used with the 6L80E which has an internal TCM which communicated the gear directly to the BCM. The ECM had no need to send the gear info anywhere. They didn’t take it out, it was never there.

jmac 03-14-2020 07:27 PM

What problems are you having with the RTX guages displaying?

waynieZ 03-14-2020 07:51 PM

It's what Don was saying in the post before you, it's nothing with the RTX dash it's that the ECM doesn't use the signal needed to show the gear selected. They have a box to show gear selected you just need to use this box
Dakota Digital GSS-3000 Universal Sender Unit for Gear Shift Position Indicator
Then it will show on the dash.

waynieZ 04-09-2020 11:06 PM

I've got a small update on the car. The car is out getting wiring and the A/C installed. The wiring for the tail light section ha been neatened up, No picture of that. The A/C has been mocked up and some of the hoses for the heat have been changed to the -10 AN and run to the heat control valve. I needed a lot on different A/C fittings because of all the changes with inter cooler and pumps. But it's just wait for the fittings to be delivered.

Here's the challenges you run into when you run out of room. That RS headlight door has stung me a few time./

Here's where the dryer is going.

waynieZ 04-10-2020 12:00 AM

There was more progress. I'm running a Dakota Digital RTX gauge set up with a DD cruise control, fan controller, BIM box and because it is a connect and cruise kit the gear Shift indicator sensor.

Here's the plate they're going on

https://i172.photobucket.com/albums/...psidgyakiu.jpg

Here are the relays for the cooling fans

Here's the sensor for the gear shift

The trans was tight for connecting the controller wiring, the connector was too close to the floor. Brian dropped the spacer I had to get my drive train angle and took about 1/2" off the spacer and now the plug fits by 1/4". He tigged it back together and painted it up, and now were done with that.

Man, been looking thru your build and there’s been some amazing work done on this car! On your body seam sealer (reference post #299), can you tell me what type that is and it looks like it probably has a special application gun, maybe pneumatic? I’ve been researching seam sealers for my Nova project and i really like the way it covers the seams with “high build”...I’d love to duplicate that on the Nova’s body tub. I appreciate it and keep up the great work!

waynieZ 04-10-2020 02:20 PM

Shane here is the seam sealer Mike used on my car, the tube is a little hard to read.

I just went online with that number and 3M seam sealer came up.

CamaroAJ 04-10-2020 03:06 PM

Looks good, Wayne. That upper A/C line you should be able to bend it some more to give a little extra clearance for the door.

garage_engineer 04-13-2020 08:30 AM

Keep going on the build! The weather is starting to turn nicer here in MA so cruising season will be here before we know it. Trying get mine road worthy for this season...

waynieZ 04-13-2020 08:40 PM

All the A/C fittings, a-10 for the heater hose and Gates shrink clamps showed up today. Those Gates clamps wow some people think their Gold Speedway motors had them on E bay I saw $28 I send a message to them asking how many for that price they say 1 I sent them a message back but not to order. I got them for $3.59 after checking for an hour, and after I ordered them found them for $2.10. Guess I should have looked longer lol

waynieZ 06-02-2020 12:17 PM

I got a few pictures of the progress so I figured I'd post them.
Not sure if I posted this yet. Changed those long harpoon screws that come with it, I got enough scars from them.

https://i172.photobucket.com/albums/...psdotxovwy.jpg

I'm hoping now the the state has started to open up I'll get to go see it in person. It will be like a mini vacation. lol

214Chevy 06-02-2020 05:30 PM

Nice progress Wayne...
