Hard to believe it's been 15 years...a world changed forever.

 Thanks, seems like just yesterday! I was in the Navy and during our morning brief our Duty Petty Officer called all to the shack and we witnessed the towers in flames and the ongoing chaos, I"LL NEVER FORGET 9/11 it's ingrained in my optical memory thumb drive !!!!
I'm getting there!

They are a work of art, hopefully I can do them some justice on my car!!

Working with Jay at MillerBuilt I came up with a 56.375" between housing ends, hopefully if our math is correct I can use the same wheel and BS on the front and rear end (315 on a 10.5 w 8"BS), simplifying the choice of wheels and ability to rotate the tires!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Front wheels are on order and the rear axles and pumpkin are in progress!

Trying to finish the passenger mini-tub in a few days vs. years on the driver's side, lol!

Thanks for looking ...

I have to admit, the more I think about your "body prep", then wrap, it'll just speed things up, and look good. Wonder what my paint buddies think lol?

Cheers Michael...lookin good. Lemme know if you need a weekend hand, I'm bored lol

Mike, thanks! Yeah, I'm gonna get the outside straight and sanded w 400 grit and call it good. The wrap will show any low or high spots so you do have to do some bodywork, but nothing compared to guys prepping for a black paint job!

You can come on down anytime you want I'll find something for you to do :hitaxeonthehead:

Yes, after you work for it, lol!

Wow, second side is going a lot faster ... lol! Mini-tub closeouts are done and test fit the inner, cut the flange and re-bent the flange for a closer fit to the outer. Of course after you cut you have to weld em closed ... ready for some epoxy primer, maybe tomorrow I'll spray these items and the rear end.

Looking good Chief! You know the bond between those wheel tub halves is strong enough.

Thanks Wayne, I did have one run that I had to sand down w 500 grit, I'll respray epoxy and get some 2K flat black on to protect the housing from scratches.

Truck showed up today :trophy-1302: I really appreciate the Made in the USA, thanks again to Jay Miller for quality, now I have some reading to do .... instructions.

Quarter panel fitment and problem areas are no different than the driver's side ... here we go again!!

Update //21

Good garage day ... what started as a skin over the OEM to welded to OEM quater panel, now I have to drill out the spot welds in the jamb and take it off as a unit. The jamb area on top of the rocker will need rust repair and then I can put it back on after I epoxy and spray Lizard Skin on the back.

Take a look ....

glassman 09-21-2016 07:16 PM

It'll pay dividends in the end. Then you can beat on it too break it, then make it better. It never ends its a vicious cycle lol

Mikael A 09-22-2016 02:28 PM

Definitely looking like something now, great work.

Thanks Mikael, it is looking like a car now and that means I'm getting close!

Thought I'd update a couple pics ... I finished the graft of AMD to OEM quarter and then drilled out all the spot welds in the door jamb area to take care of the rust and get the back side in epoxy. I did get the inner quarter panel and the inner support down to bare metal, and it's ready for epoxy, just didn't get pics of the cleaned up areas, duh!

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/NfbDvF.jpg
Got all this down to bare metal too!
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/si571H.jpg
Dang NVH stuff, rusted!
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/nEcyl3.jpg
This will buff out :lmao:

These pics show the rust between the panels and where GM put that dang NVH putty in the door jamb ... which has an affinity for moisture, grrr! Now I'll get the back side in epoxy and Lizard Skin, fix the corner and tail pan radius and get her bonded on the car for good!!!!

Thanks for looking ....

BBC71Nova 09-30-2016 06:11 AM

Looking good. What kind of clamps are those you are using for the butt joints? Look much nicer than the typical ones.

John

waynieZ 09-30-2016 11:21 AM

Your definitely doing a complete rebuild on every part of the car. It's going to be worth all the extra work your doing and will show up in the fit and finish.

John, :thankyou: I can't find those clamps anymore, I purchased them from a speed/ hot rod shop, Made in the USA! I bought a set of 10 for me and my brother and when he passed I got dibs on his set, so now I have 20 clamps.

Wayne, it's a labor of love for me and I think I may have OCD. There is too many cars out there that still have rust hiding under that $$$ paint job, just not going to be mine.

When I get back to Cali I'll post up some more pics ...

waynieZ 09-30-2016 07:21 PM

sweet, I'll be watching for them.

Looking good Chief ! Quarter panel work scares the hell out of me, although I have some ahead :shakehead:

Man it has been weird warm weather here in the Fort, 66-68, I was watering my yard yesterday, go figure. I am sure you don't miss it :-)

Take care!

Joe

I have only ordered the fronts and they are 10.5X18 w 8" BS to fit the Speed Tech sub. If I did my math correct the same size will fit the back end also, soon as I get the passenger side buttoned up I'll put the rear end under there and try the fronts on the back.

Michael

The inside paint looks better than some folk's external paint jobs.

Centerforce 12-01-2016 07:04 PM

This is some true dedication! All of your body panels are clean enough to eat off of, inside and out!

Sonar Chief 12-02-2016 09:12 AM

Good garage day!

And the plan for today is epoxy the inside firewall, dash, and wheel tub so I can get body parts installed finally. Giving the Lizard Skin another day to dry and then get this bonded to the car. Oh yeah, the roof still needs to get bonded too, never ends

Thanks for looking ...

Wanye, thanks and I am not going to paint the car I am using 3M wrap so I don't fuss over the paint and it's an easy fix if I need a repair!
