Well, smallish, but major update to the car.
After running the single adjustable QA1 coil overs, I was pretty much told by everyone (Jimi Day, Scott Parkhurst, Randy Johnson... et al.) that I really needed to step up my shock/spring package to dial in more speed. That's where these Ride Tech TA's come in. Everyone I talked with wouldn't shut up about them so I figured it was worth a shot. I haven't any track time lately to fully test them out, but here they are in all their glory! Sorry about the crappy cell pics, it was dark in my garage that day. Bleh. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8037/8...5f84efe2_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8040/8...d6a90234_c.jpg |
Well, I suppose it's been a while since I made an update, but here goes.
Why removable steering wheel??? BECAUSE RACECAR! No, seriously the big reason was to help me get in and out of the car. Damn these long dancers legs!! LOL Thanks to Randy at D&Z Customs for helping me find the right hub/adapter and letting me talk his ear off at all hours of the night! NRG claimed that it wouldn't fit a '68 column but apparently they have no clue what the hell they are talking about because it fit just fine. The car is put away for the winter. Hell, I even got stuck in a snow storm 30 miles from home, but we made it just fine! Ok, on to the pics. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...56357198_o.jpg http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...09770467_n.jpg |
I love the picture of the new wheel.
Between that and the dash insert you have it makes the interoir look awesome! I hope winter is not being too much of a pitha for ya, it sure has been challenging us so far. |
Please Don't tell us you drove in the MN salt!

It's finally spring!
Time for some mods! Now, I picked up a rear spoiler from Jakes rod Shop which should help my downforce a bit in the corners, so we'll see how well it works in June when i go back to Road America for the OPTIMA Challenge. Mmm.. Dat ass. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...52192460_n.jpg Secondly, I took a ride up to Bighley's autobody and removed the heater box, blower and heater core. Should save me 15-ish pounds off the front of the car :) http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...82420561_n.jpg http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...08347004_n.jpg So far that's it! just waiting to get on the track to get the Ride Tech's all set up for road course season! |
Car looks fantastic!

So some minor updates to this.
It's finally spring and I hosted an AutoX recently and got spanked by a Neon... how sad. Regardless, I can finally get it onto a big track and let it loose. A have to admit fully that I did a major facepalm today after I looked at my dyno graph again and noticed that the redline isn't where I thought it was at 6K... nope, closer to 7K. I'm losing 50 horsepower alone! Stupid me! Should go faster now that I know I can rev it up more *insert maniacal laugh* So, spring time brings in fluid changes and a nut and bolt session. $165 later, the car has new fluids. *insert money raining from the sky* http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...68-nutbolt.jpg Seeing this my son had a little melt down that Daddy's car was "broken" and insisted on helping me put the tires back on. It was adorable. Kid was impressive to say the least, he's 2 and 1/2 and got all lugs started, takes after his dad haha! http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...g-1967-max.jpg Some car swag for me and the new little lady during our trip to OPTIMA http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...969-shirts.jpg Completely unrelated but I had a ZL1 upgraded to a custom "ZLR" that makes roughly 850 to the wheels in my garage... Looks good next to the 68, dontcha think? http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...g-1970-zlr.jpg |
