7/7 Update
Didn't get epoxy sprayed too much rain coming down today, go figure ... it's too hot and now it's too wet :unibrow: Continued with the citrus stripper and got the rest of the sill done and the upper gutter to the doors almost done.
Oh and the dash is ready for epoxy ... hopefully I can get some primer sprayed tomorrow before it starts to rain. http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/8983/120707963.jpg Working on the upper sill. http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/8062/120707979.jpg Door sills all done. http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/6672/120707967.jpg Just a cool pix  http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/8547/120707960.jpg Stripping the dash. Something everyday .... hopefully epoxy tomorrow should be in the 70's, we'll see  Thanks for looking |
How about posting up a few pictures of the process with that Citrus stripper? Seems to be working REALLY well.

Using the citrus stuff!

It's funny that you asked ... cuz I just so happen to have pixs of the dash strip. So this is how I did the dash I first put a good coat of the citrus stuff on (don't use your hand w/ nitrile gloves cuz you don't have a paint brush) and wait bout two hours, wipe the goo off w/ a shop towel and then use the wire brush and cross hatch the area and the paint comes off. I used a fiber disc on the DeWalt to finish the hard areas and it leaves scratches for the epoxy to adhere to. Here's a couple pixs of the dash undergoing the strip http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/2062/120707959.jpg Put a good layer on w/ a paint brush http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/8547/120707960.jpg Wipe off and then wire brush. http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/4168/120707970.jpg I used a fiber disc to scratch the metal clean That's how I did it .... if it is too thin and starts to dry it doesn't work as well ... just put another layer on that spot and she's good. Hope that helps all  |
Finally got epoxy
sprayed on all the parts, now just the body is left:thumbsup:
So at 1000 it's 70 out and the humidity is 67%, thought I was back in CT for awhile, I'm degreasing the parts and I'm sweating like a pig so I wore a t shirt around my head while I was spraying. I had to get going cuz the humidity was only going up so I put the car in the driveway and hung the fenders and extensions, the dash and the doors and mixed up some epoxy and got going. Even with the humidity the epoxy laid down nice, only one run  Anyway here is the pixs of the garage full of parts. http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/6726/120708981.jpg Hung all the parts and wiped em down. http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/2026/120708984.jpg Doors ready to go. http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/4231/1207081013.jpg Fenders now have epoxy inside. http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/6418/1207081006.jpg Fenders and extensions done http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5308/120708991.jpg Doors look good  http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5053/1207081009.jpg Ditto http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1672/120708996.jpg Dash is done too! So ... I let them dry and put them back in the boy's bedroom  I need to start attaching parts this week cus the boys are flying out in two weeks and I'm sure they will want them outa thier rooms :willy: :willy: Parts in epoxy is a good sight, now I just have to do the body, still have some areas that need paint removal. Anyway that's what I did today ...... thanks! |
