Working on a buddies '56 BBC with 8 stacks -- We now refer to the FAST XFI 2.0 "upgrade" as the "three hour tour..." He wanted to change oil -- and do that upgrade - and THREE LONG days later we drove it to GG Show in Puyallup. Long story. But it included a butterfly that was BLOWN from flat to being bent 90*'s.... OMG! That "explosion" still has me jumping. The SpeedTech crew just left my house... and are headed home -- but I have a whole lot of really "killer" equipment around my place right now! I think the plasma will blow through the padlocks in no time.... and keys were left in the Nova that is in "the shed".... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm........:captain: |

That '56 with the BBC is a really nice car. Your buddy was telling me about that explosion, how could that happen with everything shut down like it was? I was good to catch up with you at the show. The cars all looked great, but the 32 really stood out I think. |

If I could answer your question I would - but I'm still scratching my head about that.... nothing turning over - fuel pump disconnected - key "on" for 3 or 4 minutes... and all of a sudden.... KABOOM! Inside the shop and with the car on the lift --- it was f'n LOUD and HARD. I'm an internationally licensed pyro --- so I've been around a few large explosions in my lifetime.... but this one was so unexpected... and inside the shed like that... and I'm just sitting there doing the XFI update.... it was a real shocker! Thanks for the kind words on the '32.... We did have a sweet "camp" set up this weekend! Shade - bathroom 50 feet away - food.... what's not to like! |
Yeah, you guys had some prime real estate at the show!
Save that butterfly for a wall hanger.....good conversation piece. I can imagine the crack from the explosion was pretty intense in the shop. Glad I wasn't there....woulda called for a change of shorts......:_paranoid |

Well.... Since I have to haul a trailer south to Charley's place to pick up the Mustang ---- I called Brizio this morning to inquire if I could drop off the '32 at their place for them to replace the clutch and do a full alignment on the car.
Good news! They said heck yeah - bring her on down! So instead of an empty haul - Miss Redo will go down for a nice needed fix. Not sure what SAR did to this clutch (hydraulic) but it's never been right... and I'm 100% certain that Brizio can make the required fix, whatever that is.... I just don't have the time or space with Rudy's Camaro still occupying the lift.... and I have to get the '37 out of the trailer... so it has to go into the shed... and blah blah blah. So Dave.... if you want to see her - she'll be there sometime this Thrusday... |
Sounds like a good idea for a number of reasons Greg.
Bring your 'A' camera, huh? |
Poor car, Just can't seam to get a break. I would have them go over and look at everything..That shop knows 32"s

I would like to have a 'relationship' with Brizio's shop - so this works out perfectly. Ordinarily I'd service this part myself but will take advantage of the trip and become a 'paying' customer. I find paying customers get good service when they need it... I'm still thinking over the '37 Ford project.... and this would be just the shop to handle that IF (big IF) I decide to have part, or all of it, built somewhere. My wife has been very busy with MY time lately... and it's getting worse! :willy:  And we all know how many hours it takes to crank this stuff out, and I'm not getting any younger! |

My plan is to get the '37 out of the trailer and the '32 in today... It's been POURING rain up here off and on... Then hit the road tomorrow (Wednesday) -- and be at Brizio "early" (before noon if possible) THURSDAY... then head back up to Woodland area with the empty trailer so I'm set up for Friday. You have my cell I''m pretty sure? |

Skippers..... I promise you I WILL NOT take any photos of a certain GOLD '55... but will snap anything else that is actually good looking! :unibrow: :D |

But put it out of your mind before you meet Roy. Otherwise any gold he is wearing may set you off....again! And remember, gold and yellow are fraternal twins, so show some of the same tolerance we are giving you for owning that rapid banana mobile. |

Charley had it painted that color because the Northern California Shelby Clubs NOVICE group color is YELLOW.... and he knew I was going to buy it!  It will go nicely with my pants and the green harness.... |

But I think that green harness will work with the right pants. http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.107345325.jpg  |

Chad,
Great pic. :) Greg is obviously a good sport, and I think its cool 'The King' gets to take his '32 to 'the King of 32's. |

You are right about Brizio's, I don't think anyone knows their way around a deuce better than they do! |
Hey Greg, if you have time Thursday after 5, you could swing by for dinner. You can even stay if needed.

Wow! Thanks for the invite! I've got a hotel in Woodland for Thursday night... that way I can bug Charley early on Friday! LOL The reason I'm headed down "early" is to make sure I have the seat adjusted right. I don't want to be struggling late Friday afternoon trying to rebuild a seat position for Saturday AM.... it's a long ways down and back for me to run into a problem. Let me see what happens Thursday at Brizio - what time I get there and go over all the stuff I want them to do etc... I'll call you when I have a decent idea what's up. Remember I'll have a big azz trailer (I'm 50' long when all hooked up!) so we can talk about that then. |
She's finally where I should have STARTED.....

long way to go to get a clutch looked at...........
so when we get to see a pick of your new toy? |
Quote:
All kinds of pics in the "for sale" section right here on Lat G!! Yeah --- it's not about the clutch replacement - I can do that at home myself -- this was a "relationship" trip... get them to know me.. and me them... Funny how a "paying customer" is somehow a better guy - than just some DB they talk to at a show once in awhile.... LOL |
First date kinda thing

Now I'll be a PAYING DB! That's just one notch above a non-paying DB but still a DB.:woot: |
Greg,
Besides the clutch issue, any other work you're having done? How long will 'The Red Menace' be at Roy's? What are your impressions of their operation? Any builds there you particularly like? |
Quote:
Not sure how long it will take them - they're very busy - and they really don't do "repair work" but were willing to take this on... so it will just be done when it's done. I've always been 100% impressed with their shop - and the way they treat customers. This explains why so many people have had several cars built there. Here's a comparison.... Brizio is happy to see you - and happy to have you tour the shop and work with you.... SAR's attitude is that you're lucky that they acknowledge you.... Which explains why they have few repeat customers and very little work in the shop. Brizio is slammed with work. HUGE difference! Rodders Journal just did a piece on ANOTHER Eric Clapton car... they've built him several... and the article shows the car in bare metal. It's now painted and is in the area where they do final assembly. It's super kool. There were 4 cars in the final assembly area... and all were just WOW. Funny how clean the shop is -- they don't do bodywork... no bondo dust flying around - no primer in the air... just metal. I'm so po'd at myself for having made such a bad choice having SAR build the car - when this (Brizio) was my first pick to start with... but I kinda felt sorry for SAR having so little work, and felt it was closer to me, and blah blah blah. :drama: |
Greg,
Thanks for the info. You really painted a picture of how Roy Brizio treats people, and not surprisingly how busy they are. I think you're referring to Clapton's 4 dr RHD Vicky. Looking forward to seeing that one done. |
Greg, any news happening to your car? Great place to store it say till about May then Road trip:unibrow:

I have the electrician coming this morning to finish up Rudys' wiring... Rudy was here this weekend and I have a plumbing fitting shopping list which I'll pick up tomorrow... and he'll be back this weekend and we should fire the pig off! Then hang sheetmetal. Of course.... in my usual "it can always be better" manor... I was at Art Morrisons the other day - and ended up buying him a coil over conversion and pan-hard bar... so once it's rolling/driving... we'll tear the reared out of it and get if off the leaf springs. :wow:  |
Greg, my son just bought a little home up in Kirkland which I will be over at regularly for the next couple of months remodeling. I'll give you a call when I'm in the area and we can talk shop/cars, what a life:thumbsup:
|
EGGS SELL LANT!!!
I'm here 99% of the time.... Well... unless I have something more interesting to do! LOL |
Greg, how could it possibly be anything more interesting to do then to be on here LOL. You can always come down and work on my wagon.
Tonny |
Tonny!
I'll be down there over New Years for the Seahawks/Cardinals game! Well -- that and also to make sure the condo is E M P T Y so I can donate it to some charity. :unibrow: :D Then I have to get my wife to Bondurant for her class sometime between then and the RTTAlamo event... Oh - and then there's the Grand National Roadster Show in there too... :willy: :D |
I get your point
