Holy Sh!#!! That is BAD ASS!! BUY IT!!:cheering:

Track Junky 06-08-2014 12:19 PM

Lost my train of thought after seeing that bad ass mamma jamma.

Spent a couple hours today replacing front pads and rotors. Dropped the car and torqued the front wheels. Went to the rear to torque the rear wheels just for good measure and noticed a shim of backing plate or something like that sliding away from the caliper. Don't think I'll look into that today. Probly do it next Friday after I pick up new rear pads but this is one of those instances where we're reminded to check our cars thoroughly after each track day.

Most likely the stainless anti rattle shield that comes with the pads. You can glue them back on or remove them.

Oh that's funny ... because there's truth in it.

P.S. I'm sure Sonoma was fun. LOVE that track.

Thanks Mills. Front brakes need to be upgraded. There just isn't enough stopping power with the 295 R6's. Power steering pump isn't working. I am sore this morning from muscling the car around yesterday. Other than that the car sticks but the driver needs to relearn Sonoma. I left after the 3rd session and still had the fastest time in TT1 but that's not saying much.....there was only 3 of us in that group.

Hey Gaetano. Great to finally meet you.

I was up on the hill during two of your sessions that ran before our qualy and race to spot for Davy. I noticed that you are leaving around 1/3 of the track width unused coming out of t-2.

Just an FYI

True, I remember when I used to be all the way to the outside of two and slightly sideways there at least a couple of the laps out of the session.

Trust me when I tell you I felt like a total retard out there this last time out. Trying to pin point the issue. Getting used to the 295 Hoosiers up front is one of them in conjunction with my power steering pump going out.
Tire probe temps are telling me I need to change my alignment.
My last and final excuse is wheel time. Last time I was out at that track was 8 years ago. I thought I was going to be able to jump back on the horse and ride like nobody's business. Not even close.

What I do know is that I will be spending alot more time out at sonoma so I can get back into the groove.

BTW...it was great to put a face to the name. See ya' soon

Thanks for the compliment Bob. Like I mentioned above....wheel time, wheel time. Car feels way different with the bigger, stickier tires up front. The steering is heavier but that feeling could be from the pump.

Regardless, I'll figure it out.

Ron in SoCal 06-18-2014 10:19 AM

Love the before and after. Car looks meaner with age, just like its owner...:rules:

Panteracer 06-18-2014 12:35 PM

Yes wheel time in the car is what makes
us faster and more confident. I can jump
in the Pantera and run any track as it has
been the same for about 6 years (except the
200 tires I had to put on it for Optima)

My firebird has been down for many years and
before I could drive the wheels off that car
I have changed so many things it is hard to
get used to it (plus I am still changing things-
new springs just showed up today)

Get it set and then start relearning the car
I told one of my buddies that just started out
it takes time but eventually you and the car
become one.. that is what we strive for

I think our problem now is we have so many things
we can adjust that it takes a while to figure out
what works and what does not

Back in the day I drove my firebird with springs too
soft the ball joints almost falling off but boy could
I drive that car

Keep at it as the track times are the best
My Pantera buddy use to say "its all about Racing
everything else is just waiting" I think he stole
that saying from Steve Mcqueen

One of the major reasons I don't keep lap times and stuff..... We just don't get enough seat time. It's like expecting to play par golf when you play twice a year. Just play and enjoy the day. Just drive the course and stay on track and have fun.
