Greg,

So the question is, how does this very ole skool suspension ride and drive?

Rick D 03-09-2014 05:56 AM

All I can say is well done!!! And Greg if Gwen doesn't like then I guess YOU have a new car to drive?? :relax: :trophy-1302:

This hot rod with it's live axle / coil over rear --- and dropped straight axle front rides way better than the '32 does with it's Kugel IFS/IRS suspension.

It's longer wheelbase... and it's heavier... and it was built by a guy (Brizio Street Rods) that understands what it takes to make 'em real drivable. Spring rates - shocks etc.

This body is also way heavier than the Wescott bodied '32 and that can't hurt either... add an automatic that's heavier than a 5 speed...

Basically this hot rod is a Rolls Royce in the way the doors and trunk close and open... it's pretty amazing to me! There's zero rattles...

fleet 03-09-2014 08:44 AM

Greg,

That is tremendous to hear.

Ole Skool...#FTW!

:D

congrats Greg! I love the car and I hope you do as well! I must say it looks way better on the road then it does in a show! I am really happy for you buddy!

INTMD8 03-09-2014 08:04 PM

After seeing this lil hot rod in person I gotta tell you, it's perfect! Not damn near, not really nice or kinda cool, it's perfect. Just the right amount of chrome, the paint looks a mile deep, hell the mauve interior works!

Never did hear it running but that LS looks right at home in the engine bay. I know Brizio doesn't build crap but this hot rod is so basic and clean that it puts it over the top! I say you just by Gwen her BMW and keep this one for yourself.

Nicely done Greg, the right builder and a perfect little hot rod!

Dan

How do you go from driving this back to the RPOS?

Thanks Dan!

I like the little red POS now that it all got fixxexededed up. It's a real nice car now! I might change the wheels and tires on it after seeing these that I had built for the '33....

You shoulda jumped in the rig and headed to Texas Motor Speedway with me! LOL

Just arrived here --- parked on the infield --- just WOW is all I have to say about that!

Even experiencing 2nd hand what it's like to be 'Brizzed' is a good thing.

DBasher 03-12-2014 12:05 PM

Trust me Greg, I was looking for a spot to stowaway! I can see why you travel to these events, the cars and action are great but its the people that made the event for me.

I was joking with the guys that I'm now best friends with Popp! Before going out on the road course he said "hey bud, could you buckle up the belts on the passenger side for me?" After springing into action he said "thanks, I appreciate it" I'm expecting a call any day now for a full time position! :bitchslap:

Have fun in Texas and try not to slop any BBQ on the interior of "her" car.

Dan

Two thumbs up on the car

I got a chance to look at this car up close, and it is very very impressive. Told my wife that it was for Greg's wife and she said why didn't you build a car like this!!!! Yikes, guess what I will have to put down on the bucket list.......Build Hot Rod for wife....nah more like build Hot Rod for myself and say its for my wife!!!!

Personally, I don't see any issues with this strategy.....

Ummm... that's how my "wife's Camaro" ended up with the "big engine, stiff suspension, and way-too-loud stereo"! Yea, I was busted but Greg has taken a much subtler approach... Pure quality!!!

Hot rod

My wife says if I ever leave her that the
Pantera has her name on the registration and she loves it...
as if I would ever leave her.. it took too much time to figure
out one woman.. not going to do it again

Any other time it is too loud, uncomfortable and smells

Now the Firebird was a junker 26 years ago and when I
registered it she was out of town so no name there
So that is really my car.. at least I say it is:)

So GW, you're just wurkin' all the bugs out and drive testing everything before you give it to your bride, right? How thoughtful you are!!

Jeff-

When she gets it -- it WILL BE perfect.

I'm having Don Hardy Jr dyno it (he's here in Texas)... and there's already a tail light out... and the driver window glass needs adjusting... and Phil (The Roadster Shop) was here and told me about some top adjustments...

So "maybe" the Good-Guys Pleasanton show..... and then back to Brizio until she gets it in June. I don't want the Lotus leaking on it.... :>)

GregWeld 03-17-2014 07:55 AM

2975 pounds..... 44.8% on the nose.

Thank you RideTech!!!

The Lotus will be out of oil by then.

Panteracer 03-17-2014 02:18 PM

another Hot Rod

Baja Cantina.. my favorite event of the year
The Thursday night before the Historics, Italiano and Pebble

Park the Pantera and get out and walk down two cars
and the Hemisphere is parked there. another year a real
Daytona coupe pulls up and parks.. sold later in the weekend

Every kind of car imaginable pulls up or passes thru

So the Brizo ride weighs 2900lbs plus.. I was thinking
more like 2500.. All steel, maybe heavier to make
it ride better

Think of it as floor conditioning... kinda like using a conditioner on your hair.

There's just something about those British cars isn't there? :>(

Panteracer 03-18-2014 12:33 PM

hot rod

Just found a leaking tray on the lift under my buddies Pantera
at the shop.. problem is it is leaking on the girls car (Boxter)
another buddies car.. not real good for the paint
He usually has his Pantera parked there.. so lucky
thing it was just that German car

GregWeld 03-18-2014 04:22 PM

I had lotus put the race pan on and apparently they didn't get something right. So I'll tear into it if charley doesn't charge me too much for the floor repairs.

Cuz flying squirrels like to cuddle on Sid Chavers' leather duds apparently.

Donny

I've found the weather and wind in Texas to be less than ideal... To say the least. I don't want to mess up a brand new car before it's gift time. Texas seems to have a bit of "dust". As in OMG.
