It seems that Tyler has made my selections for me without prior notification.
Not sure why Tyler (hell I don't even know him) posted this but they definitely are sick. The wheels have not been chosen and Im far from making that selection. Im all up for having a little fun but I would like this thread to be more professional and ACCURATE, so lets keep it that way. I ran into Tyler at Columbus to give him a new shade of hair color for doing this. But if some of you know him, its his way of making the sale. Again good intentions, no need to thrash on Tyler I have that under control (I think).
No doubt the wheels are cool and the concept would be killer. So maybe he did make a future sale, will see. When I finally make a wheel selection it will be mounted on the car prior to photos in lieu of you guys asking if those HRE's are mounted yet.

I hate to see a thread posted ttt without real progress to view. I just needed to clear this up.

Dave is good humored at least. These are the wheels I feel would be the only logical choice for a build of this caliber.
I did post these as kind of an inside joke between Dave, Rodger and myself. Only Dave wasn't in on it.

I love the idea of Carbon Hoops. However they scare the heck out of me. Here is what I did to a set of Carbon FIber Mountain Bike Cranks while i was climbing up a hill.

There used to be chain rings attached to those tabs. I sheared the ring off the crank and yes my knee hurt like a SOB when it hit the stem.

That's not carbon fiber's fault; it looks like poor design to me. It looks like they milled a critical mounting surface down to almost nothing. Beside losing critical mass, you would also be milling away a layer or so of fibers which ideally would be oriented to add structural integrity. Considering the possible legal implications, I would bet on the wheels to be properly designed. HRE isn't receiving shipments from the Far East are they? :_paranoid

Yeah, not remotely the same idea, or type of material. HRE uses a forged aluminum center with a carbon hoop. The center isn't going to fail, and the CF hoops are stronger than steel. If it does get impact damage they are toast though.

And no, HRE does not make their stuff in China.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your cranks and we hope the damage to yourself is healing well. We will get you a new set of Next arms under warranty coverage. As we talked about on the phone today you can have your new shop contact me and I will set up the warranty claim with them. This kind of tab failure is not something we expect to see, although we have made some changes in the carbon lay-up to strengthen the chaintabs further. The new Next cranks will serve you well.
