very nice Tony, looks like a great package. So Im asuming all the engine and trans mock up in the pics was done before the car was shipped to Pete, Did you need to lift the tunnel to fit your t56?

It better be fun. If not we might need to start a collection to send Tony to mental institution.

I don't think we could find one that would take him back.....:willy:

speed inc makes a nice pulley set up for the lt1 that brings the acces down lower and cleans up the engine you should check it out, it would clean it up alot.

Thanks Rich! Yep, I'm surrounded by good peeps!! Team Karma has a bunch of great people and friends on board....couldn't do it without them - that's for sure!!

Pete and crew have done an amazing job! They have taken a garage build and turned it into a very special and very NICE car!

The drive train is a ProCharged '96 LT1 that I sent to Mike Lewis to work his magic on! Among many things, he installed a billet splayed 4-bolt main kit, forged Scat crank and rods, custom blower pistons from Diamond, custom ground cam and valve train from Comp, all ARP fasteners, ect. Stainless Works 1-7/8" long tube headers and 3" exhaust. A modded Accel DFI intake Jody had done to work on a LT1. Holley C950 EFI. MSD ignition. P1SC ProCharger w/ intercooler. It should make a comfy 600+ hp/tq. Mike sent me back a nicely done short block w/ many boxes of new parts! Then Bob (96z28ss) helped me turn it into what you see in the pics! We have been waiting a long time to fire it up! :unibrow:

Trans is a rebuilt T56 from a '97 Camaro. The driveline is aluminum and the one Jody took out of Malitude when he rebuilt the car...Thanks again Jody!

The rearend is one of Currie's aluminum housed 9" and has Dutchman 31 splined axles and 3.89 gears. Wilwood brakes front and rear.

That's about it! The problem with taking 9 years to build a car is that everything seems outdated now! But I think it's a cool package and will work well! One day WAY down the road I would like to swap out everything for a LS based motor....probably keep the SC though. That won't happen for a very long time if ever!

Thanks for asking, here's a few pics!!

I will look into it! The a/c compressor fitment is a concern with most of the setups I've seen...although the car has a new Speed Tech frame now not the stock frame like I was working with before....might have a little more room?

Thanks Rich! Yes I did mock up everything...a few times actually! I had to raise the trans tunnel .75" to fit the T56....however I'm told that was mostly due to the .5" lower body mounts I used. The T56 should just barely fit with stock height body mounts and a stock frame....at least that's what I'm told.

I know its been said a million times already!! But I'll make it a million and one. Tony is going to have one hell of a nice car VERY soon. Pete and the guy's have this car dialed in. :hail:

KPC67 11-17-2010 07:25 AM

Wow!
Tony,
I was going through all my old e-mails the other day and found one from you in there from about four years ago. You were asking me if I was going to paint my 67 the same color as the mule. You said your car was going into paint shortly and you wanted to see how mine turned out.
Well here it is four years later, and your car is painted and mine is not.
In a round about way I am glad yours has taken the journey it has, in the end it has turned out to be one kick ass ride!

tones2SS 11-17-2010 07:29 AM

awr68 11-17-2010 09:37 AM

Basically speechless.......

Ok, I take the little guy to school, come home, logon, and check the site......BAM! Karma's back on page one with tons of pics! Woooohoooo!!!!! :woot:

I truely don't know what to say and that's very rare for me to run out of words....right guys? So here I go!

As many of you know this has been a very long journey for us to get the car to this point....we are knocking on the door of 9 years! This build has had many highs and lows....many times I wanted to through in the towel! But Jennifer would talk me out of it and help me re-focus on my (our) dream and keep moviong on, thanks!

As you can imagine the 'blue car days' were not so fun! I fully trusted that shop/fellow L-g member and even when he failed the first time I trusted he could fix it the second time...which we all know the outcome of that! That was the lowest low of the build! Jen and I were very hurt by all that!

Then, not knowing to me, Curtis went public with 'The Tread' that started us on a much better and happier path! It took off like a wild fire! I could not believe how powerfull a forum like this could be! You guys quickly turned the negative into a positive. With Scott's approval used his paypal account and raised enough money to get the car to Pete and most of what it will take to get it back home! Mario stepped up BIG and sent Pete a very sizable check to help with the needed materials to re-do the car! And Pete jumped in and said 'if I could get him the car comp-spec would make it right'. I had a couple phone calls with Pete to let him know the actualy condition of the car and give him an out....he said to send it to him! So I did! Brother, words can't express how greatfull we are for what you have done! :hail:

Meanwhile, Steve and Nick over at Camaro Performers took interest in the build/story and wanted to addopt the car to do tech articles! I was very excited, you see as a child I dreamed of having a car in a magazine...so yeah this is truely a dream come true! We had to name the car so the public could easily follow the build.....in the end Jen (and I) thought Karma was the winner for all the good hearted people that helped us when we needed it most!

Over that last couple years we have picked up a nice list of sponsors, most were already friends of ours and others have become our friends...all great people! With the help of these companies, the members of Lateral-g.net, and hugely Pete and Crew at Competition Specialties we now have a beautifully done right car! Our dream car will be heading home very soon....I couldn't ask for a better Christmas present!

From the bottom of my heart and with tears of joy running down my face.....

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!: :woot: :lateral:

Yeah that shot is very special to me too! You see my good friend Curtis donated that valance when you needed an OE part to work off, I helped you design it, and then you ended up donating it to Karma! Curtis had to sell his car, but a part of it is still in the family! How cool is that! Thanks again Mike for all you have done! Can't wait to see the custom grill installed for the total package view! Oh and the OE window trim, lets not forget about you saving my ass there too!

Trust me I am going to do everything I can to have it in Vegas 2011!!!!

Your part looks really great Mike. Thanks for sponsoring the cars and being a great friend.

awr68 11-17-2010 10:16 AM

Pete, the car looks crazy nice! It's just what we envisioned! I love the colors! The subtle body mods....and look no more gay blue trunk!!

You have truly done an incredible job on it! As you know I went with these colors and no bling to show the craftsmanship of the build....it's already working!!

Thanks again my man!!! :woot:
