I liked your car, I kind of took a little peek at it. But I don't recall seeing it on track, what group were you running? I was busy fiddling with my car most of the day anyways.. Your car sure looks mean though, I liked it! For a camaro :P

Sorry to get back to you so late. Lifes super busy right now and I'm fighting to get the chance to play with my car stuff right now. Actually spending this weekend digging footings for a detached garage/shop on my property. Thank you for the compliment on the car. She really isn't much more than a track car but I love her just the same.
I was running green group but got approval at tech to run blue group if I chose. I had never run with the NorCal Shelby Club and needed to get an idea on the experience level.
I will definitely be running blue group next time.

New garage eh? :gitrdun: I'm jealous. I am doing my front end in a cramped 2 car garage

Vince@Meanstreets 10-13-2014 10:54 AM

is it done yet?

Track Junky 10-13-2014 04:57 PM

The car is never done. Haven't heard from Joe about heads ands cam but as soon as the shop is complete I'll install the Wilson intake and most likely hold off on heads and cam. The detached garage/shop will be done end of the first week of November. today roof got loaded with roof tiles, I framed the bathroom, painted the fascia, completed rough electrical and the panel is now hot. Gutters getting installed tomorrow. I'll post some pics in a bit.

Thanks buddy but don't be too jealous. Been doing a lot of the work myself and I keep forgetting I'm not getting any younger.

you have enough room to get your trailer next to it?

No but if I cut some more dirt out of there I can definitely get another car there. Going put a fence there and use that area for all my ladders, wheel barrow, etc

Track Junky 10-13-2014 06:39 PM

Heres a pic with the roof loaded and fascia painted. Gutters go up tomorrow. Stucco guys start next Monday. Rough plumbing should be done by Thursday, inspection on Friday, start sheet rock in two weeks.

no details impressions from the last track outing?

Track Junky 10-23-2014 12:05 PM

Forgot to buy pics so I didnt post. You know how much we all like pics.

Overall impression of the new back side....loved it. Car handled extremely well. Truly hard to believe with just a 40 year old subframe, Global West arms and leaf springs.
Apparently nobody around here believes it either. But fact is I never got passed and all I did was pass......new Mustangs, Vettes, etc. Probably had alot to do with the experience and confidence level of the other drivers but either way my car sticks like glue front and rear and is a pleasure to drive around a road course.
Alot more wheel time is needed in order for me to find the limits because I just dont have the balls right now to push it that hard.

I think the simple answer is Mahle realizes there is an oil control issue and a narrower ring set was the solution. Also tighter piston to wall clearances .003" to overcome the wear associated with the stroke dimensions.

In other words --- Even the manufacturers have figured out there's issues with big inch small blocks....

Have you found the booth that has the fix for those bi monthly exploding short stroke Ford motors? :action-smiley-027:

Yes a couple months ago --- a different engine builder seems to have done the trick nicely.

Ready and waiting my friend. Other than a recent chassis tune that gained another 42 hp and 42 ft/lbs of torque I have installed a Traqmate data aquisition system. :relax: Busy with work right now but if I get time I'll post pics of the dyno session and traqmate install.
I think the million dollar quetion is when is that bucket of bolts your calling a street car going to come out and play with us. :whistling:

He needs to sell the hauler first to pay the local crack dealers then he can pay the sonoma guys to finish it....wait, i'm thinking of someone else lol...

Gae, what times are you turning at t-hill on the Hoosier's?
You going with Gregs group in May? i'm 90% sure i'll be there.....

Do yourself a HUGE favor and don't get caught up in what times someone else is running.... These cars are ALL different -- different power - different weight - different gearing - different size and compounds of tires (for instance I run a Hoosier A7 - whereas Gae runs the R6).... Different suspensions - Different SKILL levels.

Figure if you can run Thunderhill EAST (the original) with the Cyclone at 2:10 you'll be running with the bulk of the "group"... Without the Cyclone (known as the Bypass) that's a 2:06.

The Lotus is going to run that sub 2's --- and there's no way our old crap is going to get there without MAJOR suspension changes - and weight loss - and horsepower increases. Or MAJOR skill improvements. Best and cheapest fix for the car, is the nut behind the wheel.

No times with the Hoosiers yet Mike. As soon as I get the opportunity I'm going to run an NCRC or NASA event and see how it goes. Goal is 1:59's.

T-Hill with Greg and the boys is a no brainer.

Reminds me of the old saying... 'People who live in a glass(man) house shouldn't throw stones... unless they're absolutely sure they can get away with it.'

Yeah. I don't post in this thread much I but I read it. I'm looking forward to what you learn with your traqmate data and how the car is doing these days.

I don't think he got any track time due to what time he got up there but knowing him it didn't stay in the trailer... I guess he did great for a parade car.
No details yet. If he is feeling anything like I do he is asleep under his supervisor desk.

Here are a few pictures of the cell box and mounting cage.

Looks bulletproof, cool build.

Track Junky 06-10-2015 11:51 AM

Thanks for checking in guys. No track days planned for this year. I'm in between money right now with rental properties, the build of my new shop, the rebuild of motor in the white Camaro, and my 13, 15, and 17 year old digging deeper into my pockets.
Very frustrating because my car is finally where I want it handlng wise now and the only excuse behind low lap times now will be on the driver.
Was talking to Weld the other day about starting a track day fund.......set aside a fixed amount of money each month so I can at least make 3 track days a year starting next season.
We'll see.........
Thanks again

Flash68 09-03-2016 11:23 PM

Gae,

I hope you didn't blow your track day funds on A's tickets...
