05-08-09 Update - WMC Design Hood Pin Washer

Good Morning All,

Continuing with the little detail theme this week.
Once I again we got a hold of Ron Wilson at WMC Design
[email protected]

In order to clean up the Core Support Hood Pin Ron & I worked on a core support trim plate.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._Plate_004.jpg

Ron sent me several Solid Works drawings so I could get an Idea of how they would look.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._Plate_005.jpg

Below is the final Product.
I couldn't be happier.

I usually explain to people that my car is "cheaper than a shrink." In you case however, I think a year or two in the psych ward may have been a less expensive alternative!

This thing looks sick! And the attention to detail is stunning. My hat is off to you and your builders, great job! No go get the damned thing finished!!

Shiny Side Up!
Bill

LOL - yep i will need a shrink after this project for sure.

Good Morning All,

The Rear Corner is on for the Final Time.

We needed to find a very low profile License Plate Frame.
So a Quick call to the Guy's at Billet Specialties.

Hi Bill,

While I was surfing one of the other BB's a member did an article on WordPress. It's pretty cool and it's all the therapy that I will ever need.

05-19-09 Update - Mesh Grille

Good Afternoon,

I've had many question about the mesh grille and how it was built.
So today's post is about the grille.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...25_KD_GT_0.jpg

Way back when, Kenny had the grille 3D scanned and from that Wood Bucks were made.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...25_KD_GT_2.jpg

The Mesh was cut and the laid on top of the wood form.
Then all you do is gentle hammer the mesh around the wood buck.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...25_KD_GT_5.jpg

Trim the excess material and you end up with something that looks like this.
It's hard to tell from the picture but the mesh is in the same shape as the factory grille

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...25_KD_GT_8.jpg

Cut out the old grille

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...5_KD_GT_12.jpg

Here is how the grille looks installed in the truck.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...7_KD_GT_17.jpg

Another close up to show how it lines up.

Good Afternoon All,

It's been a long week and I am sorry that I didn't get this post out sooner.

I've been working with Ron at WMC Design
(( [email protected] )) www.wmcdesigns.com

In Order to clean up the engine bay you have all seen the new color.
Now to make it stand out Ron is designing and cutting us some Billet Valve Cover Emblems

Here are the Final Renderings

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Syborg_1_1.jpg

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Syborg_1_2.jpg

In order to save money Ron cut the samples out of Plexiglass.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._03_WMC_17.jpg

Final Part - Cut to Size

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._03_WMC_10.jpg

Ron shipped Kenny a 6" and a 8" Version for fitment.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...5_07_WMC_3.jpg

Once Kenny chooses the size he likes on the valve cover Ron will cut the new billet emblems.

awr68 06-08-2009 09:36 PM

First class all the way!!

black2002ls 06-09-2009 06:52 AM

That is too cool. I'm sure you've got something planned for those plexiglass pieces?

Ricochet 06-09-2009 12:20 PM

Just can't keep up with you Marty!! Just about to get it all done and you go and rip it apart? I've been there - most people scratch their heads and think your crazy - but you have to do what you have to do, right?

When will it be back together in black?

syborg tt 06-09-2009 08:05 PM

LOL - I know, I know it's getting closer every day. Just trying to get it the way it needs to be.

ps - and nope Kenny hasn't threatened to kill me anytime soon.

The truck is looking killer. Insane amount of detail!

syborg tt 06-10-2009 07:53 AM

Back to working on the Garage again. Like I said getting ready for the next project car.

I needed space for Parts and Tires. The plan is to suspend a shelf even with the attic area.

Dennis at Hi-Speed Welding (( www.highspeedwelding.com )) ordered me some heavy wall
2 x 2 Square tubing and welded tabs on the ends.

Spent about 2 hours sanding them smooth, getting them ready for paint.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Garage_006.jpg

All painted in Chassis Black

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Garage_014.jpg

Picture of the center support brackets that will tie into the ceiling

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Garage_016.jpg

I hung the first 20 footer, man is that hard to do by yourself. You can also see that the
center supports are already hung. Okay that was also a pain in the butt.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Garage_020.jpg

There are three 3/8" lag bolts that tie the center supports in the ceiling rafters. I had to put in
two extra boards in the attic to anchor the center support.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Garage_025.jpg

Okay the shelf is up.
The center will be used for Tire Storage and the corners will be used for parts storage.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...Garage_028.jpg

Still to do is build the uprights and I this time I am going to have the center supports
powder coated by Jay over at Pro-Tek Powder Coating (( www.propowder.com ))

Bring it down... we have an open chassis table. Just finished our new 1st gen Nova chassis so we have freed up the chassis table and are ready to design a new chassis.
