Thank you.

This go round of the build is all the stuff I wanted to do the first time but with that cancer thing the goal was to just get the car done and make a nice driver. This go round I get to do all the little details that most people won't notice and the timing couldn't be better as with the social distancing and the lock down am fairly certain my family would kill me if was in the house all night. I'm not much for sitting around so this is keeping me sane.

streetbird 04-21-2020 01:05 PM

wow the pedal setup look really pretty. is this custom?

Yep, a Gentleman from New York I think made them and thankfully I put the clutch pedal, small brake and clutch reservoir from him as he is no longer making them.

Still plugging along (01-04-20)

Redoing the factory shifter assembly and I need to thank Jay at Pro-Tek Powder Caoting in Joliet for doing such a great job on the base bracket that will never be seen.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...10e4e34-me.jpg

So at some point I would love to talk with the guys at DSE and see if I can get the billet shifter they did in the Chevelle.

Planning for the Holley EFI Harness ( 01-07-20 )

The goal is to hide as much as possible yet still be able to get to things if needed so I am going to hide some stuff in above the Anvil Inner Fenders.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...b46c382-me.jpg

When Larry redid the firewall I had him take the ugly lip off the firewall. I am still not sure if I am going to put a weather strip across the top. But at least I planned for it if I needed it.

syborg tt 04-23-2020 07:43 PM

So do you have just have one of those days !!! ( 01-09-20 )

Well that is exactly what happened on the Jan 9. I closed the door and I heard something fall inside the door. So I went to
open the door to see if I could figure out what it was and then I realized it was the rod for the door handle.

Ugh !!

So off came the door panel

Dear Lord talk about an awful task. Hell I have small hands and I could barley get the clip back on.

syborg tt 04-23-2020 07:51 PM

Looking for Old School Window Cranks (01-10-20)

Seems like an easy enough task and oddly enough it was. All you have to do is go to the Autoparts store that has been in your
town for 80 years and see if they have a window crank.

Not sure how old it is but it has been on the shelf for years.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...44e6f76-me.jpg

Next up...Adjustments to the G-Force Trans Crossmember.

So you know when you ask all of your car friends and even the guys at the trans shop if the 700R4 and the 4L60E have the same
size case and the tail-shaft mount is in the exact same position and the case dimensions are the same. Well, don't believe them
because they are not and the blue tap represents where the new holes need to be !!!

Of course I have to drill new holes in my freshly Powder Coated crossmember. Not Happy at all.

Hey let's tighten the window glass nuts and see if that is the rattle.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...96778b5-me.jpg

I have had this tool since the early 80's and it's kinda cool that one of the last cars I used it on was my buddy Ken's 70 Split bumper Camaro.

Strictly a street car as I don't feel it has enough safety features in it that would save my life if I crashed. So this
one will do the Power Tour and see a bunch of mountain bike trails.

I also have the Cayman R and the 2010 Camaro if I want to hit the track or autocross. Something about having
airbags, ABS and updated safety features that at this point in my life seem really important.

syborg tt 04-24-2020 04:15 PM

Coil Brackets (02-02-20)

So at this point I am assuming at this point that my coil brackets are upside down so I am going to flip them to see if the coils come down just a little bit to take the tension off the plug wires. If not I am going to have to remake the wire as I don't like how tight they are.

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...562ab91-me.jpg

and yes that is a mountain bike tool being used on my car. Which got me thinking....

Back to the Holley Terminator wiring and I am hoping all of my planning pays off with all of the hose routing and
wiring. Confirming the location of where I want to mount the relays. Once I feel confident I will install the "Weld Mounts"
which are a stud that are glues in with panel bond.

I used an adhesive based heat shrink so it's nice and tight and I am hoping the engine heat doesn't cause an issue. I am also

Back to the Holley EFI Harness (02-20-20)

Remember the blue notes.

Since this is a ground stud I removed all of the paint and I also removed the paint from the inside of the cowl.

Marty, that stay at home advisory is really working in your favor by getting a bunch of small detailing stuff done. I picked up some of that wire wrap to use as a conduit for wiring going from the trunk area to glovebox, keeps them nice and neat & protected.
Hey if you don't mind...... in the pics of your spark plug wires, your grommet on your firewall that feeds your main harness looks nice and snug, care to share which one you used. Thanks.
Keep up the tidy detailing!
